  1. A very charming build, the jungle vegetation is just spot on... This will be a hard one to beat! I really like that you added a stream into the environment. Concerning the photos, I'm also leaning towards the second. Halhi made an excellent point about framing the atmospheric shot with a full LEGO background. I've also had some luck using natural light to get the effects I want. It can be really frustrating getting the right light outside, but try shooting in the sunlight and time of day that you want to convey in your build (also, it feels a little weird sharing photography advice with you - you are the best, as far as I'm concerned, and when you share advice I listen!). An example of this working for me, if you don't mind me sharing, would be this photo I took of my Swamp Outpost build:
  2. Nice counter The way the tower is built into the rocks looks good. The path is nice and rugged as well, much how'd I expect it. SK is right, just try experimenting with the rockwork and you'll figure out some neat techniques. One suggestion I would have is steering away from using many 2 x something pieces and stick to the 1x slopes. The thick slopes don't break up the pattern as well and look a little too blocky for landscaping purposes. Either way, a good build and counter my friend!
  3. Good build and idea Nice work on the mountainside, the addition of dark tan slopes is a good touch. The doorway looks cool too and the figs are top notch. The lighting in the first pic looks pretty erie. I think shooting with a lower exposure would have helped a lot, and using a different color background. From my experience, white backgrounds lead to some overexposure unless checked and washes out light sources in the build. Try a darker background and reducing the exposure. Try shooting in darker settings too, I've found that darker lighting and longer shutter speeds helps enhance the lighting in a MOC.
  4. Sweet looking chariot! It's awesome to see Razcal back in action. The hitch is indeed well done.
  5. Wow I'm really no good at this - thanks for pointing that out. I checked all the other GAs to make sure g15 wasn't taken, I didn't think to check the warzones! Sorry about the confusion. Is G14 an eligible choice?
  6. Nice build and enthralling story once again! I love the build, but the story is the real treat here - very well written and I like the (somewhat) nonviolent route taken. As for the build itself, the dark green/sand green/dark brown combo is great and would perfect for Nocturnus. The irreg base is quite interesting too, the tide effect is nicely done. The tower itself looks great with the dark bley mottling, though the smoothness of the battlements doesn't quite match the rest of the structure. In any case, great GA and one we'll have to work hard to counter! You're making a great contribution story- and build-wise, keep it up!
  7. My Guerilla Action against G15: Freedom to Worship
  8. This guerilla action is against zone G14 . The wall at Qaryat-Dul-Khat has stood for ages as a place of solace and worship for the people of Kaliphlin. One of Kaliphlin's many holy sites, the wall bears ancient inscriptions describing various religious beliefs and practices. When Ulandus stormed through the southern Rakarths, Qaryat-Dul-Khat and other shrines fell under the First Centurion's dominion. Pilgrimages ended almost immediately as worshippers feared how Ulandus would treat visitors to these sites. Rumors spread that the authoritarian Ulandians regarded such worship as dangerous and backwards-thinking. Whether or not these rumors were true, the Desert King saw this as a perfect opportunity to strike Ulandus and demonstrate his devotion to Kaliphlin's traditional values. He sent a small group of civil and military officers to capture Qaryat-Dul-Khat who then invited worshippers to once again pray at the holy wall. In this time of suffering and uncertainty, the shrine has seen a huge growth in visitors. Guards dispatched by the Desert King ensure offerings are not stolen. So far Ulandus has not reclaimed the site, no doubt fearful of further antagonizing the local populace. Worshippers come from all over for fellowship, to pray and to leave personal offerings. Below, a Desert King civil officer helps an elderly worshipper while another recites the shrine's ancient inscriptions: ----------------------------------- Hello! My first Guerilla Action entry, hope you don't mind the stickers! They seemed to work here and finally gave me something to do with the Moria Mine stickers I've collected. I'd have to admit the rockwork needs some finesse. I would have liked to go a bit bigger to give a better impression of a shrine embedded in the mountain - unfortunately, most of my dark bley slopes are tied up in another build and this was all I could scrape together. In any case, thanks a ton for looking. Hope you enjoy it!
  9. Wonderful to see this hypnotizing creation in its entirety, though this must be seen in person to truly appreciate! I am glad you shared this and, earlier, the sections which made up this amazing work.
  10. Beautiful and well composed build! The long grass looks great, as does the dirt flying from under the horses' hooves!
  11. Beautiful entry! I love the uniqueness of this aqueduct and its curves! Gorgeous landscaping as well. A superb and beautifully photographed build!
  12. Woah! Jacob, this is epic! Certainly one of the best siege towers I've seen. Most impressive! The rhino steals the show for me, however! The shaping on this beast is wonderful and it's a perfect choice for a Kaliphlin beast of burden. Excellent work, really glad you're on our side!
  13. Gorgeous build LJ, definitely one of the finest entries thus far! I love how lively this build is and its colorfulness (the tan and white aqueduct looks fantastic). The first pic shows how well composed this build is, too. My only suggestion here is perhaps using blue plates under the river to give it more color. I think the blue would have really helped this build pop. As is, however, the river does have a nice muddy look to it. Either way, great work!
  14. Very interesting story and great build to show it off! The various minotaur figures look excellent.
  15. Great work Robuko, the pumping mechanism looks awesome as does that very elegant aqueduct.
  16. Excellent texturing on this keep, the dark grey mottling is a great touch. The stone work on the upper portion of the keep towers is particularly impressive. Great work! I have to echo a few others on the landscaping, it seems a little too Mitgardian! Also, I would have suggested placing some black construction paper or something dark behind the build when photographing it so the hollowness of the wooden section wouldn't have been so evident. Nevertheless, a top notch build!
  17. Clever counter and fantastic ballista design! The landscaping is quite lovely too.
  18. Beautiful build, the various rock layers and the high water marks really enhance this build. Lovely palm tree and water as well! If I could make one suggestion, it's that the angles in this build are a tad too straight. Perhaps a curve in the dam or more angling of the reservoir would have been great. Small nitpick for an otherwise awesome entry!
  19. So, the High Council chooses instant gratification over ensuring Kaliphlin's posterity? Funds intended for the reconstruction of Kaliphlin after this devastating conflict will now be squandered on liquor, gambling and other vices. The Desert King will not take lightly the plundering of his coffers! OoC: Sweet build Bregir, love the use of those printed pieces! Great looking figs too!
  20. Excellent work Robuko, very awesome how much attention you put into recreating Everlast! The architecture in between the mountains is quite lovely. All around awesome entry! In character: It is important for the people of Kaliphlin to know that the Desert King has their best interests in mind! Although our fighters are ferocious on the battlefield, the well-being of Kaliphlin's common people is among our top priorities! I see the possibility for a great future of cooperation between Stedor and the Desert King! I hope Lord DaMaximus will provide us the opportunity to become strong allies.
  21. Great looking rock formation and build! The water looks great too. Just one thing, you're on the wrong side!
  22. Beautiful entry, the colors really make this shine! The gold accents stand out very nicely against the white and tan. The power and wealth of Mypa Stedor is on full display here!
  23. Thanks everyone! Haha, yes, I noticed this the second after I hit "post topic." I guess I'm on a roll - I screwed up the WZ2 title too. Maybe Ska can change this one for me too?
  24. Pretty build! As others said, this has such a nice classic feel to it. Many little details to appreciate here, but my favorite has to be the bird house and the little bird in the tree! I really enjoy this build!
