  1. Fantastic swamp-scaping, the trees and smaller vegetation look great, as does the SNOT water. The ruined stone pillars are a wonderful touch as well. Great job on the photography as well!
  2. I think Robuko and Jacob both make really strong arguments here. After five or six weeks of Challenge C, we're just now to an equal footing with U and HC (though not counting all those GAs Garmadon mentioned). And the situation could totally find itself reversed if HC members kick into gear or a few more members join U or if DK members get busy with real life. For instance, my work picks up as the weather warms so I doubt I'll be able to maintain the level of activity I've shown so far. Vacations by a few of DK members could kill our momentum. I just don't think DK's victory is set in stone just yet. Concerning the number of GAs against U this week, I'd be fine switching it against the HC if that's possible. I didn't realize we had already surpassed the threshold against U (though I am fully supportive of the threshold rule). I just don't feel severely handicapping the DK is the best choice, at least not right now. Besides, I think I remember something in the prelude about the DK's rise being a matter of prophecy. How can one stop prophecy? Seriously though, I think closing DK membership isn't a bad idea at this time.
  3. Nice entry LJ, I'm also surprised this is the only one from the High Council for WZ5, though it's a really good one! Love the desert landscaping here, but of course, it's the outpost itself that really steals the show here. The white, dark tan and red really blend well together. The built up clumps of sand next to the wall is a really good touch. Awesome work as usual LJ!
  4. Great little build, the mole and shrine look good. Nice entry!
  5. Wonderful interior scene LordDan! A lot of techniques to appreciate here, especially that mosaic and the SNOTed dais. Really nice guerilla, great work sir! It appears the DK is finding powerful supporters from all corners of Historica!
  6. Fantastic bunker-hut Garmadon! Love the hexagonal design, and great job matching those roofs together! That irregular base is great too, and the photography (especially that atmospheric sunlight shot) is quite well done. Great and clever work as always!
  7. Great build Narbilu, this is quite the imposing wall! The arrow slits and the soldiers peeking through them are a fantastic touch, and the whole wall is nicely structured. Those critters look quite fierce as well, love the teeth encircling their maws! I think a tad bit more landscaping, especially at the base of the wall, would have kicked this up a notch. Nonetheless, nice entry!
  8. Woah, great build here CB! Really enjoying those snotted dunes! That soldier looks as skeptical as me about the importance of this patch of sand! Also, so glad you joined the Desert King!
  9. Thanks everyone, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Jacob! I'm glad you liked the photos, guess I might be a little hard on myself, but I had some issues lighting this thing as I wanted. Fortunately, GoH has driven me to not just build better, but to put a greater emphasis on photography too. The problem is, I don't have internet at my home or a computer, so I have to take photos at home, drive to my business to upload them only to realize the photos didn't turn out, so then I drive back home, take more photos, and drive back to work... It can get frustrating and sometimes I feel as if the hassle is making me too complacent!
  10. Wonderful story, and a great little scene too! The snotted sand and the oil pumping mechanism look fantastic.
  11. Wow, the forced perspective here is epic! The shrine is just perfectly out of focus in that first shot. The shrine itself is wonderfully done, such nice shaping and detailing, especially the gold accents and the rugged, worn look of the top of the structure. Also, the way the sand pours off of the border looks phenomenal, what a great touch! The Manticore would certainly be a powerful ally in this conflict!
  12. Great scene, the landscaping and tower are particularly sweet! The bones are a great touch, and you have really developed an awesome look for those Ulanders!
  13. Sweet mini model, the flying jib/staysail is a great touch as is the cutout sections! Quite a detailed build for its size
  14. I got a slightly better photo of my recent GA and was wondering if I could replace the original. I thought I read it is ok to do so until voting starts, but I just want to make sure. That's an interesting question. I initially joined the DK because it seemed like it was going to have the fewest members (I think I was the fifth or sixth member to join, when the other two had like twice that), and I thought my undead Nocty fig collection would work best under the mummy-king flag. I suppose luck is the best answer as far as the DK's motivation is concerned, though I wouldn't disregard the underdog effect. In the prelude the DK certainly came off as the dark horse in this race, and started with quite a few less points than the other sides. That's certainly been a motivation for me to stay active and I'm sure others. Now, as Jacob said, this is also a game of endurance, and it will be interesting to see who can maintain the momentum the longest in this challenge! That being said, I've been nothing but impressed with Ulandus' performance. Especially Kai, and Garmadon. I'm glad there's not more of you two in Ulandus or the rest of us would be doomed!
  15. Wonderful dunes blufiji, I knew you'd have an awesome entry for this minichallenge This is a great scene, minimal but painstakingly detailed in its sandscaping. Love the caption too!
  16. Fantastic build and reference to one of my favorite monster movies! Really great posing, way to outsmart that grabboid the landscaping is great too. But the exploding campside is a real eye catcher. Sweet entry my friend!
  17. Great stuff Lord Dan, quite humorous too (though I hope your DK troops were well enough to keep control of the territory!). That's some great looking desert landscaping and the sandcastle is a hilarious touch! Fantastic entry!
  18. A GA for the Desert King against Ulandus at L16: A Helping Hand Also, I apologize for not doing a better job mentioning desired warzone selections in my other builds - I'll make sure to stay on top of that in future entries!
  19. Meh'nak looked at the forces arrayed before the old fort. Lord Anfauglir of Nocturnus had promised to assist the Desert King in his campaign, but it was to Meh'nak's surprise when an entire company of soldiers arrived at the secret rendezvous point on Ulandus' northern shore. Furthermore, Anfauglir had also dispatched a squad of elite heavy infantrymen, the Scourge of Nocturnus as the unit was known. Ulandus had not anticipated an amphibious operation and had not detected the growing concentration of Desert King troops. In just a few days the soldiers had managed to transform the dilapidated fort into a secure center of operations - which the soldiers nicknamed Fort Pain. From here the Desert King could launch raids directly into the Ulandian heartland. The Scourge of Nocturnus is a crack unit under Lord Anfauglir's command. Its members are considered some of the most fearsome warriors in all of Nocturnus, and have never been known to back down from a fight. In fact, to reinforce its commitment to assisting the Desert King, Anfauglir's soldiers dismantled their transport ship and used the parts to rebuild the old fort. Anfauglir's troops prepare to raid Ulandian lands. Although Lord Anfauglir is not present to help lead his troops, they are under the command of some of his best officers. ------------------------------------------- Hello! Another GA for the Desert King! I wasn't able to use my standard photo setup so forgive the somewhat crappy quality of the photos. I'm gonna try to get a better one before the night's up. Anyways, I've been wanting to get Anfauglir into the Civil War somehow, but since he's currently visiting Shadowmere, I thought I'd send a group to represent his command. So, thanks for looking, feedback always welcomed!
  20. Fantastic interior build! I'm somewhat partial to these massive interior scenes myself, so I always love to see others. The rounded base looks sweet as does that dark grey mottling across the walls. The pillars and little shrine are great touches as well. The chandeliers look cool too, if not a tad bit dangerous! I really like what you did with the stained glass, but if I can nitpick for a second, it seems somewhat out of place. Between the broken floor, the worn stonework and the moss growing on the walls, this looks like it was a really old building and that its stained glass would have been stolen/busted long ago. I also enjoyed the action-filled story, but I had trouble keeping track of who was who as I read it. My suggestion, for future story-intensive builds like this, is to introduce the characters one at a time within the first few scenes of the story. Or when you want to introduce multiple characters at the same time, as in the story above, try a little more camera work. Have one character talk, and take a picture with her/him being the only visible face, or at least the only one in sharp focus. Then take a picture of the listener when she/he talks, again being the only one in focus/visible. That way you've established the look of each character, and the reader has it straight as they read the rest of the story. In any case, another great build from you, this will make for a challenging counter no doubt! I had better examples of illustrating dialogue-heavy story MOCs with lots of characters, but I deleted many of the pics from Flickr to tidy up my photostream. Here is one however that may show what I'm talking about: The Forgotten Monastery
  21. Fantastic stuff, such a clever idea to put some life into castle building. I love the angled walls, this should make for quite a complex and nicely composed castle. As mentioned, the snow patches look fantastic as do all the great construction actions. I even spy Sir Glorfindel pouring mortar!
  22. Jacob, I use the term very rarely so know I'm being fully sincere: That's some serious NPU there! What a brilliant critter, way to show those hairy cattle! Great shaping on this beast, especially the head and hooves. I love that spear too (forgive me if you see some of those in my next MOC!). As an Arkansas resident, I reserve a special place in my heart for anything relating to the Hogs!
  23. Nice micro build! I do think you have the forced perspective backwards - the town should be slightly out of focus to obscure that it's micro, and the soldiers should be nicely in focus. In any case, good work and guerilla.
  24. Just a friendly notice that I have a CG against Adair at A15: A Warrior's Code Sorry, just realized this probably isn't the place for CGs just yet.
