Nice build, the vegetation really makes this shine. It would be great if we could see a picture of the entire MOC. -
Blocking the Road to Queenscross [G:D7, HC vs U]
MassEditor replied to Gideon's topic in Guilds of Historica
Fantastic build and beautifully photographed. The variety in those cacti and the darker dirt under the road really adds to the realism of this scene. Clever fortification and gorgeous landscaping!- 19 replies

Awesome build and very intriguing story blufiji! More foot soldiers for the Desert King's campaigns, and more civilians to hail him as a hero. Love the Kaliphlin architecture and the texture, especially those piles of sand. That's a small but really aesthetic touch. This is a pretty build, I can totally imagine this building within a windswept desert city. Great work!

Excellent entry! The overall photo looks great. Nice work on the SNOT aqueduct and that awesome pumping mechanism. The landscaping and banks are also well done. Also, I'm glad Osric is on our side!

[CG:F13, DK vs U] How to deal with rustlers
MassEditor replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very clever counter, the posing is perfect! The gallows is well done too. Even Kaliphlin's cattle choose the Desert King! -
Awesome chamber room, great way to show the power of the Desert King! That he can give away such prizes! The ambassador fig looks good too.

Thanks LordDan, Captain Braunsfeld and Gunman, glad you guys liked this one! Thanks! The aqueduct doesn't have a curve, but it is set at an angle. There is also a one plate gradient running the length of the aqueduct to make the water look like it is more realistically affected by gravity. I appreciate it! Well, Anfauglir is still embroiled in the Nocturnian resistance movement and is currently visiting Vlaidivus in Shadowmere. Though he is watching the Kaliphlin Civil War with apt attention, it is doubtful he will be able to play an active part considering all that must still be done in Nocturnus. The Black Spire's minions are everywhere! Back to your question, that remains to be seen my friend! Although Meh'nak takes much of the glory in this particular action, we have not seen the last of Abd-al-Malik!

Oh hell yeah, Emma's here, which means all those Ulandian and High Council supporters are about to find out why they picked the wrong sides! Sweet build, love those mummies popping out of the sand. Very clever! Love how you added the Nocty colors too, now I'm a little ashamed I haven't done the same!

Taking prisoners in Arkbri WZ1:E7, High Council
MassEditor replied to de Gothia's topic in Guilds of Historica
A charming little build! -
(Edit: messed up on the title... again. Faction name should be Desert King. My next pick is B7.) The Desert King's minions could barely control their laughter at the sight of the High Council scout now. The scout had almost escaped them, until one of the mercenaries had the idea of catching the reeds on fire and flushing him out. Naturally, the Desert King's mummy regulars were skeptical of anything involving fire, but the scout had to be caught and he would be impossible to find in the maze of reeds. The mummies had stood a safe distance back as the fire ravaged through the vegetation. It wasn't long before they heard a yelp and saw the scout scramble up a palm tree. Surrounded and nearly roasted, the scout had quickly pleaded for mercy. The mummies got a few more chuckles in before ordering a mercenary to rescue the scout and place him in custody. They were anxious to hear what details this poor fellow could share with the Desert King. ---------------------------------------- Greetings! Close to the eleventh hour, but here's my Warzone 1 build! There's been a lot of good entries in this challenge, it was difficult trying to do something unique! The glowing fire was done using LEDs from LifeLites. Thanks for looking, and glory to the Desert King!

A ferocious looking ballista! The design is excellent and quite realistic. Certainly not something I'd want to be on the wrong side of!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MassEditor replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hmm, same thing happened to my Toshiba Satellite several years ago. It's an A135 so yeah, it's around a decade old. Random keys started going out (including the ones I need to enter my password ) so I have to use the onscreen keyboard anytime I want to log in. Never did price out what it would cost to fix it, but I'm sure it's not much different than getting a new laptop! -

Book II, Chal IV - Kaliphlin Civil War (Results Posted)
MassEditor replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
And I'll third this. I've been thinking the same - I certainly haven't been here as long, but I've never seen such activity in the forum. It's obvious Ska put a ton of thought into this one, especially by giving newer builders a chance to participate with many smaller builds. This is definitely set to be a very exciting chapter, and quite difficult to top too!- 272 replies

Nice action poses! I second Gideon though, a little more texture or color to the ground would have really spiced this up. But man, it is hard to work with such a small space!
-
Wonderful work on the snowy landscaping, your best example yet. I really like the texture and how it realistically looks as if the craggy rock formations continue underneath all that snow. The tower is very well done, as is the story. I hope there is still a chance of victory or at least escape for our two Mitgard heroes!

Thanks again everyone, glad you enjoyed this build! No need to fret good sir, we will all be on the same side soon - when the Desert King is once again ruler of all Kaliphlin! Yes, it took some time to get my mind around this chapter, but now I'm ready to help raise the glory of the Desert King! Major kudos to Ska for getting such an interactive and awesome set of challenges together! Thanks robuko! Can't say there's any secret as I didn't really shoot any different than normal. I would suggest, as in this build, making the layer of trans clear round plates really thick so that they maintain their color instead of being washed out by the white background underneath them.

Great scene and well photographed. The vegetation fits the particular warzone well. Though, I don't think DK troops would give up so easily - every death is a new martyr to the king's troops!

A beautiful and brilliantly photographed build! The last photo is fantastic, portrays a ton of emotion. The color scheme works great here too, especially the tan and white in that outpost. It's great to see another "behind the scenes" build. Battles, armies and assassinations always get a lot of coverage, but it's not often enough that we get to see signs of the war's effect on the common people. A giant " " to you Disco!

Great introduction and build! Love the rockwork, I haven't been able to master those SNOT techniques but you obviously have a talent for them. The path and overall landscaping are nicely done as well. I really like the narrow, limited depth of field photos and how you eventually shot wider to show off the whole build. Makes for a great presentation I think. The lighting in the story photos is atmospheric and works well, but the overall MOC picture could use some better lighting. The simplest thing to do is shot on an overcast day to get nice, equal lighting. Maybe a little photo editing to remove the lines where your backgrounds meet. Anyways, your story is intriguing and has a great GoH spirit about it. Glad you joined and look forward to seeing more of Adira around here!

Defending the Councilors [Minichallenge, High Council]

Elegant architecture and nicely done interior scene - the looks on the faces of those two nobles barricading the door is priceless! The action shots are well done too, an awesome group of warriors for sure! Definitely deserving of a " " if you need one for this minichallenge.- 13 replies
