Book II, Challenge 3, Cat A - Tunnel Recon
MassEditor replied to mrcp6d's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very creative entry, this looks like it was a lot of fun to design and build! The drum idea is great and I love how the build is split into two levels. Cool tree designs too! -
Fantastic entry, the landscaping and crumbling tower are extremely well done. Wonderful action scenes too, like the bolt slamming into the tower, the various fighting scenes, etc. (like Kai pointed out, the crushed Drow is a hilarious detail). Wonderful work and photography as per usual!

Great work as always LD, superb blade design and I for one think the colors work well. Great techniques all around on the windmill.

Great point, even though I could really use a deadline extension right now! It does seem unfair to those who aren't quite so good at procrastinating as the rest of us. While I would certainly love an extension, I for one will not be offended if no such extension is granted! (just my two cents here) I've already planned on little to no sleep this week to finish up! -
Excellent landscaping and use of vegetation, Markus! Lovely tents too. Top notch as always!
-
Lovely build as always Brother Steven. Love the base and the elegant timbering on the inn. The subtle texturing of the inn's stone walls is quite nicely done too. Another work of art my friend!
-
Haha, even a rush build for you is pure art! Lovely tree, the inset windows, door and balcony are fantastic! This will take a lot of views to fully appreciate! Mods and Regs, give this guy a MOC expert tag already!!

Stunning! Such a clever and unique build Cesar as always! The rockwork is quite nice and the structure itself is magnificently done! The ramshackle walkway hanging over the precipice is a very nice touch. Again, hats off to you sir!

Woah, this is looking great! Truly a stunning build, simple in some ways but elegant in its entirety. The vegetation and exterior details like the flags and colored accents are superbly done. And that interior... amazing! I looked on your Flickr page to check out the other modules, everything looks fantastic! I am definitely waiting in anticipation for the completed build, this will be a huge crowd pleaser!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MassEditor replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Don't feel too bad, I've just managed to eek out a Cat. A challenge build, and I don't have children to use as an excuse! I just got into the Nikon world myself, the wifey got me an entry level DSLR for Christmas and so far it surpasses the flexibility and overall quality of my Canon DSLR. I look forward to seeing your future builds with your new setup! -
Awesome build Captain Braunsfeld, you've been on a serious building-binge lately! Dunehill Castle looks great. The environment is a very unique setting for this kind of castle, neat idea! So much to appreciate here, but those interior scenes take the cake for me. The floor designs, glass windows and other interior details are first class work. Man, that cactus is great too - I've never seen one that well done! The exterior is well-done too, the various windows, arrow slits and other exterior touches work really well. I would have liked to see you do more of the SNOT-type rockwork like you did to the right of the draw bridge. I think that type of rockwork looks awesome and gives a much more realistic "dune-look." The studs-up rockwork seems a little too rugged and rocky for what I think you are going for here. I would suggest toning down some of the colors around the dunes too, the dark red and dark orange bits look a little out of place. Other than that, top notch work sir! Also, I saw you are claiming UoP credits. I'm thinking you meant to post this in the Guilds forum?

Ch. III, Cat A: The Trees are Listening
MassEditor replied to MassEditor's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks Gunman! I had the idea to use the spy birds for some time now, I'm just glad someone didn't beat me to it! Thanks Graham! I appreciate that! Thanks Kai! Your rockwork was a huge inspiration here! Haha, thanks Tomsche! Actually just a ton of scarecrows! Thanks! Thanks mrcp6d, I thought the same! Thanks Nocturnus-brother! Thank you sir! I'm glad you liked it Captain Braunsfeld! Thanks mccoyed! Thanks! Thanks a ton Garmadon! -
Woah, a very pretty build kabel! The vegetation is excellent here, especially those clever birch trees (one of my favorite trees, though there are none where I live). The wooden bridge looks fantastic and adds so much vibrancy to this scene. I like the rockwork too, simple but elegant - a perfect example of how great studs-up rockwork can look! Glad to see the mead series continue, though now I'm really thirsty! I'm jealous of the cart-driver who seems to be making the ride go quicker by sampling his product!

Great work Kai, on both the story and builds! The cracked, broken floor is a definite highlight here, looks really good. The chamber room looks great too, the little details like the flags and torches are nice touches. I like the red floor as well, stands out quite nicely amongst the rest of the build. Good work too on the Avalonian farming scene, I always like to see peaceful village scenes like this. I think the dark bley path running through the scene could use some color variation (maybe a patch of grass or mud peaking through) but other than that, this is an excellent entry!

On the Mitgardia/Avalonia border, a group of grim-looking dwarves discuss their plans to bring war to the Drow. "It took us long enough to find this cave, let's hope the elves haven't prepared something for us on the other side," said one dwarf, likely the youngest in the group. An older dwarf, probably the group's leader, studied the cave entrance and shook his head. "No one has stepped inside this hole in some time," he said. "The Drow carved out hundreds of these tunnels when they invaded Avalonia. As cleverly as they were hidden, I doubt the Avalonians found but a few of 'em." "Aye! Now we'll succeed where others have failed, and the Drow will flee to their holes for fear of the dwarves!" cried another. "They'll never suspect our trickery!" shouted a fourth dwarf. "Those stupid elves think our attack will come over the border, I want to see the look on their face when we go under them!" A white splat struck the dwarf's helmet, which rang faintly. The dwarf looked up to see a group of black birds resting in the trees overhead. "Bloody crows!" he shouted, tossing a stone at the flock. The other dwarfs laughed. "Bullseye!" one yelled. "That bird has better aim than you in the loo!" said another, laughing. "Enough," said the old dwarf. "We have to inform headquarters that we found the Drow tunnel. Then we'll march our entire army right to the Drows' doorsteps. By the time they know we're there, it'll be too late!" The dwarves turned and began marching back to their camp. They had barely left eyesight of the cave entrance before the bottles of meads were produced. Their celebration for having found the Drow tunnel could be heard throughout the valley. But the dwarves, unattuned as they are to the great variety in nature, had failed to pick up on one crucial point. These black birds were no ordinary crows - they were Avalonian ravens and allies to the elves. Although the elves could communicate with many simpler creatures, the ravens of Avalonia had always held a strong connection to the elven lords. As spies they had often provided vital information on the field of battle. And now, the information collected could possibly prevent open war between the dwarfs and elves. When the dwarves finally passed from eyesight, the ravens lifted and flew towards Avalonia to share their exploits. -------------------------------------------------------------------- A shot of the whole MOC and a couple, sans figs: This is my Challenge III, Category A build for the Men's Side. Thanks for looking! Feedback always appreciated!

The anticipation! This is sure to rock the community when finished. Such brilliant design work so far... can't wait to see it done!

Phenomenal take on Gollum's Song! I love how the darkness emanates from Gollum and looks to engulf him. The trans-yellow disc is a great touch. Like Josh said, this is a piece of art!

Looks great, especially those interior shots with the dwarves mining gold! The statues look great too. Very fun build all the way around. Nice work!
