Excellent build Captain Flint, I'm really enjoying these lovely architectural builds by you! Great atmosphere and Nocty vibe in this build. The rounded section is very well done, as are the roofs and landscaping. Excellent work!
-
Great continuation of the story, looking forward to more! The build is nice too, the wood blends nicely with the bley floor. The lighted fireplace, of course, is a wonderful touch. The decorations and interior touches are well done as well. Keep it up!

Good story and build. The action scenes are well done and really bring this build to life. The uphill path looks great as well. I'd second some of the suggestions above (mostly an overview pic!) and will add my own: I like the river but I think a couple of things could make it stand out a little better. Firstly, the banks should really be a plate higher than the river since water overtime eats into the rock below. I'd also suggest placing blue or trans-blue plates underneath the trans-clear plates, which will give the river a subtle blue hue. If you're going for the whitewater look, than rocks along the bank would be a good addition as well as some white cheese slopes to give it that choppy look. In any case, nice build and look forward to seeing more from you!

Wonderful idea and builds! I think each of these builds are so nice they deserve their own topic! This is an awesome tour of Nocturnus landscapes and architecture. I think the manor is my personal fav, the texturing is quite elegant and the roof is well done. Great tree design too! Hope we get to see some more builds from you!

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MassEditor replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Just create your signature figure (sigfig), get a story together about his or her background and get it posted here! You can choose to build a MOC to go with your intro or not - if you do, you should also post it in a separate topic on the main forum. Nocturnus issues you a dark welcome to these lands! -
Why doesn't Castle have its own section of Eurobricks?
MassEditor replied to thetang22's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well, all I'm suggesting is that new folks (like myself) adapt to the forums, instead of getting the forum to adapt to them. I guess I just don't see where the confusion is on this issue. Like Kabel said, "castle" is the first word in the description. If you've lurked around here for a couple of years, then you'd probably know how to navigate EB. Actually, so could anyone with even the most basic understanding of English - this isn't, after all, the DoD website or something. Just something to consider before you come to the History forum and declare it in a position of "lower status." Then again, these are the type of conversations which keep me warmly snug in the GoH subforum! Create a sigfig, build something and join us over there (in Nocturnus, of course) so you can lay this confusion to rest! -
Great creation Grahm, the off-angle techniques really make this some top notch work. I really like the worn stone walls and the crumbling houses. This indeed has a great slum look to it! Now let's get you building for Nocturnus!

Lovely cart, sounds like it contains quite a pretentious character! The story and build are both great and really entertaining (although I'm left wondering, what was this contraband??) I really like the little spot for the driver to seat, a nice touch there. I have to agree with Bregir that moving the wheels up a bit would make the cart look a little more... sustainable.
-
Nice little scene, Bregir, I like the references to other events happing across the Guilds. I hate to sound redundant but I agree the colors could be toned down a bit (though, I have a feeling your color scheme and technique would look really good on a bigger scale). The palisade looks good too. I wonder if using 1x2 cones in tan instead of brown would make the logs look a tad more realistic since the wood underneath the bark would be a lighter color. Otherwise, nice work!
-
That must be the reclusive snow monkeys and ice cobra, eh? Love the yurt man, great work again! A very clever little scene.
-
Great job my friend, unique and creative as always! The log wall rocks and the whole idea is really neat.

MassEditor replied to thetang22's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Amen to that! Just in my short time in GoH there's been about a thousand new topics. I wonder if some of those advocating for a split "castle" forum could spend less time arguing semantics and more time building! If you've only been here a few months, why would you bother trying to change things? -
Thanks Mike! LV has given us an awesome building venue with Shadowmere! Haha, thanks blufiji! I think we Nocturnians have always known the world to be round, it's those other guilds that still fear falling off the end of the oceans! Thanks! Glad you liked it! I appreciate that! The mini model was my favorite part of this (actually, that's where I started with the build, the rest is just there to fill the scene ). Glad you liked the presentation as well, I like to hid the size of these story MOCs until the very end. Thanks gedren! Yes, Shadowmere has much in its favor as one of the biggest and most cultured cities of Nocturnus! Thanks LJ! Thanks! Yes, it'll be very interesting to see where this goes! Thanks a lot Carson, glad you're enjoying the story! Thanks Yooha, for the praise and for continuing to follow our story! This is indeed the first time Anfauglir is shown without his hood. He felt it would be rude to enter Shadowmere with his face hidden so he let loose his rocking hairdo. Can't say just yet whether it's a wig or the real deal, I might have to make a freebuild to figure that out! Thanks LV for letting me build in your fantastic city! Thanks Gunman, really glad you liked it! Haha, thanks! Man, you have no idea how tired I am of winter! (though, considering I live in Arkansas, my definition of winter may be different than your's. Anything below 15 C is too cold for me! ) Thanks a lot Jorrit! Glad you liked the story and build, and I'm excited to keep this collab up! Thanks Garmadon, hope we won't keep you waiting long! Wow, thanks a lot for this comment Bregir! Really glad you enjoying this collaborative effort. I'm like you - I'd like to see more collaboration in GoH! I think those Mitgards got something in the works though! Thanks Captain Braunsfeld! Awesome Josh, glad you liked it! I also liked how those stairs turned out. You are right: to get the triangle shield flush, you use an arch. What holds it in place is a 1x2x1 panel. The vertical handle of the shield fits perfectly into the thin part of the panel. I don't know who came up with this technique but I learned it from Torgar. Thanks a ton SK, means a lot coming from a master interior decorator such as yourself! Glad you liked the furniture and overall design of this build.

Glad to hear the Nocturnian resistance grows stronger by the day!Z Great work Sarah, it's awesome to see you branching out, especially into Nocturnus! (We have spots open, if you want to do the right thing and join us haha!) Excellent job on the swampy environment, and the bloodbath is an awesome concept. I love the excited look of Quchqal (I think my co-worker looked at me funny when I tried to pronounce that name aloud). The tree design is great, though I'll admit I'm a little unsure about using such a variety of leaf color in one tree. I think having the big tree one color, and then some smaller trees around it in other colors, would look a bit more realistic. But then again, this is Nocty so who knows what kind of wild trees are growing out there!

Mmm, gluhwein, now there's something for a sore throat! Anyways, another great entry here. The building looks quaint and lovely, but the snow really steals the show here. The snowy landscape looks so realistic I didn't think it was LEGO for a split-second. Great choice with the background. The stands and chimney look great too!

Beautiful structure, I was wondering when you'd get around to posting this superb creation over here! You are really perfecting your roof style, the rounded sections are extremely well done. The stained glass windows are a wonderful touch. I also like the detail work done on the walls, really breaks up the wall pattern and gives the whole building an elegant look. Awesome interior as well, love how lively the scene is. Great work!

Absolutely stunning build, story and presentation Jorrith! You've obviously put an amazing amount of work into this stunning creation. There is so much to appreciate and say about this build... not sure where to begin! There is some stunning architecture here, with that crypt entrance on the ground level being my favorite (the roof is so sinister looking). I love how it quietly hides a massive complex of crypts and tunnels underneath. The path leading up to it is great too. The story is fantastic as well, and has an awesome mixture of humor, suspense, intrigue and action. The large crypt room is awesome done, you've played with some awesome angles in there and it looks great! The area with the bridge over the lava is some stunning work as well (love the upside down rockwork!!). The various scenes (the graveyard, Sonja addressing the tropps, Quintilla raising the dead, the troops leaving for Shadowmere) are quite epic and really help sell the story. I really love how, in your builds, you let no space go to waste. You use every inch to enhance the detail and story of your builds, especially this one. Man, this is really the best Nocty build we've seen in some time... top notch work! My hats off to you! Glad to know the forces of Lord Mortis and Sonja have pledged to aid the Nocturnus resistance!

Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 3 - A Failed Discovery
MassEditor replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
I always enjoy seeing your rockwork and this is definitely no exception. The cave entrance looks great too, as does the interior. The coffin looks like it certainly contains something evil (the light is a great touch). Great choice of head for the assistant, I know I'd be sweating in this situation! Look forward to where this is going! -

Another fantastic building, you really are perfecting your style with these awesome inns/homes! The detailing work and stone foundation are very well done and give this building an appropriate worn look to it. The landscaping is top notch too, love the swampy vibe and such a fantastic idea for those trees! They look awesomely evil! Excellent build and story!

Captive in the Barn - AoM: Storehouse Phase III
MassEditor replied to MKJoshA's topic in Guilds of Historica
Awesome scene, a great farm scene! Awesome work with the roof of that barn. The gables look good too. The stockade area is nicely done as well. I also like how you include the previous chapters. Great story as always, I look forward to the next part! -
Stellar wave, really nicely done especially how you shadowed the water underneath! The guy's expression is priceless too. Can't wait to see where all this is going!
-
Fantastic landscaping, this is some incredibly realistic rockwork! I for one think the gaps (large and small) look good here. Such a rugged, rocky scape would be filled with crevices and cracks of all sizes, so this looks really natural. The river looks appropriately rapid and whitewatered too. I really love builds which are strictly landscape scenes like this and help illustrate the wilder parts of the guilds. Great work!

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MassEditor replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
More from the collaborative project between Lord Vladivus, Jorrith and myself! The Resistance Forms -
Talk was light during the ride to Shadowmere. Neither Lord Vladivus nor Anfauglir could shake off the thought that one was leading the other to a trap. Although Anfauglir was alone and many leagues from his men, Vladivus suspected the disgraced Covenant commander might have a trick up his sleeve. After all, was it possible his allegiance had turned so quickly against the Black Spire? For his part, Anfauglir had no way to tell whether Vladivus would lead him right to the hangman's rope. His fate was currently in Vladivus' hands. Anfauglir and Lord Vladivus, flanked by two of Shadowmere's royal guard, rode through the massive black gates which had long protected Shadowmere. The other side was alive with the sounds of the city's famous markets. Merchants were lined up on both sides of the street to sell their wares and little could be heard above the din of haggling. A group of children swarmed Vladivus in excitement, hoping to hear one of his many tales of battle. For the first time, Anfaulgir was able to see for himself the glory of Shadowmere - Nocturnus' most cultured city and one of the mightiest in all of Historica. The group continued towards the royal palace whose towers and spikes rose threateningly towards the sky. The palace was not only home to Vladivus and his court, but served as headquarters for most of the organized resistance against the Black Spire. Anfauglir was led through several halls before entering a room deep within the palace. A shadowy figure stood in the middle, studying a large model of what appeared to be the Obsidian Spike. Vladivus moved forward to great him. "Ah, Lord Mortis, thank you for waiting on us. I apologize for the delay - there was a slight... erhm... misunderstanding at the border. Nevertheless, have you already met Anfauglir?" Lord Mortis turned and shook Anfauglir's hands. "We have not, but no doubt our reputations precede each other. Anfauglir, your escape alongside the Zugal and Dragon Master leaders has been heard across Nocturnus. That rabid dog has lost some of his closest allies, and now limps on just three legs." Anfauglir laughed at this thought of Raavage. "And many horror stories have been told over the reign of you and your minions - I am glad you have chosen to join us against the Black Spire." Vladivus walked up and locked eyes with Anfauglir. "Join us he has - it is you, Anfauglir, whose motivations are still unclear to me. Though my spies suggest your betrayal of Senurhem and Raavage is absolute, I'm still left questioning, why the change of heart? Had the blood finally run too deep?" Anfauglir lowered his head and spoke. He had been awaiting this question. "I was but a simple soldier, blindly following orders for what I thought was my people's best hope in this cruel land. Then I realized the Black Spire would have us march to battle forever, and that all we had fought for would be eventually consumed. Raavage and Senurhem seek a path of endless war that will not stop at the border of Nocturnus." Lord Mortis thought he could see their alliance crumbling before it had even begun. If Anfauglir and Vladivus could not put their past behind, this gathering would be for nothing. "Vladivus, I see no lies in Anfauglir's words. Here stands before you a man wishing to right his wrongs. I have seen the graciousness of you and your city... you would not forget it now I hope?" Vladivus relaxed. He knew he needed the Covenant commander. Their history, however injurious, could be redressed once Raavage's head was on a spike. "I hope you are right, Mortis. What we need now more than ever is able-bodied soldiers, and men to command them. Anfauglir, we still have much to reminisce about, but you are right: Raavage's goal has always been Historica. I'm afraid, however, the other guilds will not sit idly by. If the Black Spire is allowed to conquer all of Nocturnus, Historica will surely unite against our lands. The ensuing battle would likely lay waste to what little we have left." Vladivus walked to the model and mentioned for Mortis and Anfauglir to follow. "Fortunately, that day has not yet come. We still have time to defeat Raavage, but first we need a strategy. Here you see a model of the Obsidian Spike - the heart of Raavage's dominion. The stories you have heard are true: the fortress is impregnable. The Spike is protected by swamps on one side and buttressed by mountains on the other. This only leaves a frontal attack-" Anfauglir cut him off. "That would be suicidal. It would take a legion just to knock on the front door, let alone enter it." Glaring at Anfauglir, Vladivus continued. "-which only a fool would suggest. We need to hit Raavage where he is weak. Given your former alliance, Anfauglir, I was hoping you would have some suggestions." "We need to strike against Senurhem. Raavage is using the Covenant as a crutch now that he has lost the Zugal and Dragon Masters. You have surely heard, too, that the Drow and Varlyrian's allegiance with Raavage may be fracturing. If, as Lord Mortis says, Raavage limps on three legs, let's make him limp on two." Vladivus thought of the Dragon Masters and Zugal. Little has been heard of them since the escape from Lagash Ur. "And what of Anzar, Korrak and Rokkar? Will they fight with us?" Anfauglir took a deep breath and replied. "I don't know. I'm afraid their hatred for one another will not die easily, even under the Black Spire threat. Besides, I fear Raavage will focus his wrath on the Zugal and Dragon Masters for their betrayal. They may not have the forces to spare." Vladivus knew Anfauglir had failed to mention one detail - something his intelligence operatives has just received rumors of. He was about to ask when suddenly the door to the war room flew open and one of Vladivus' guards hurried in. The guard saluted Vladivus. "Sir! A group of warriors claiming to be emissaries from the Black Spire are outside the gate. They wish to relay a message from Raavage, to you personally sir." A look of concern dropped over Vladivus' face. "Looks like they were close on your trail, Anfauglir. Guard, order the garrison to man their posts and stay alert. We shall not fall for any of the Spire's traps! Lord Mortis, Anfauglir - will you join me at the gate?" Anfauglir nodded and followed the guard outside. "And you, Mortis?" "I do not wish to miss what foul message Raavage has sent our way, but there is something I must take care of first. I am expecting some encouraging news from one of my commanders. As you know, we vampires share many connections, and I am sensing something now - as if a veil of eternal sleep is being lifted." Vladivus placed his hand on Mortis' shoulder. "Is it Sonja, my friend?" Mortis nodded. "I believe she has finally returned." "Fantastic news, my friend. Please, take your time and join us at the gate when you are ready. I doubt these Spire scum will leave any time soon." The two shook hands before Vladivus turned and exited the room. Mortis sat down and concentrated. His mind began to form a picture of a dark crypt containing several coffins. Knocking could be heard from within one. --------------------------------------- A full shot of the MOC: --------------------------------------- About this MOC: Greetings! This is another part of the ongoing collaborative project Lord Vladivus, Jorrith and myself are working on. Thanks to everyone who made it through this long, long story - we had a lot to set up in this part of the project! Hope you guys stay tuned because there's much more awesomeness on its way!
