  1. Thanks again y'all! I will admit that it gets a little depressing over here, that's why you'll see something different from me soon!
  2. Nice idea and action in this quite, definitely gave me a laugh!
  3. Thanks a lot everyone! Thanks Mazin! Most are held on using a 1x1 stud brick but I ran out of those so some are placed unattached to the build.
  4. Thanks, I was hoping the build would give a nice, creepy vibe! Thanks Captain Braunsfeld! i totally agree about the tree needing a few more branches but I was afraid it would come out looking too cluttered in the photos. Something to keep in mind for the next one though! Haha, thanks LV! Thinking back, I have been on a serious tree building binge here lately! Thanks! Thanks Gunman! Thanks Kabel, glad you liked it! Things are just too happy in Mitgardia, the doom and gloom of Nocturnus is just so much fun to put into bricks! We'd be more than happy to have you in the Darklands my friend! Thanks Jorrith, that tree was a little frustrating to say the least! Yes, dark green is quickly becoming my favorite color for Nocturnus! Thanks Infernum, means a lot coming from an excellent builder such as yourself!
  5. Nice interior, not over the top but rather quite elegant. Nice work, and keep it up!
  6. Awesome first freebuild Dubbadgrim, the apothecary looks great. Nice work on the texturing and the potted plants are a nice detail. Having seen your work elsewhere, I'm definitely excited to see you joined Nocturnus!
  7. Nice build Carson, the pedestal and angled Rockwell are great touches. Awesome entry!
  8. Welcome Dubbadgrim, glad to see you in Nocturnus! Got a new freebuild up for the glory of the Darklands, The Tree of the Dead.
  9. The Tree of the Dead is one of Nocturnus' many holy sites, shrouded in mystery as dark as its bark. Said to be one of the original trees of Nocturnus, the Tree of the Dead has long been venerated by various groups in the Darklands. Many make pilgrimages to the site to pay respect to deceased loved ones. Others offer personal belongings in hopes of finding them in the afterlife, while magic men seek it for the power it supposedly contains. Though only a few branches remain and none produce leaves, herbologists claim the tree is still alive. Skulls were placed inside the tree by worshippers long ago but some rumor the tree actually serves as a gateway to the underworld. Thanks for looking, feedback always appreciated!
  10. This is some top notch winter landscaping, the snow and dark tan path really work well together. The icy pond is the best I've ever seen, fantastic technique with the layered tones. Superb work good sir!
  11. Great series, definitely one of the most creative entries yet! The hunter and Black Spire captain are my personal favorites here. Great descriptions too!
  12. Thanks Kabel. I try to set my expectations really high so when I fail to meet them, I still have something decent built! Thanks Mazin! My favorite part of this build too. Thanks dG!
  13. Wonderful scene and story, I really love the inn's windows! The greebling on the chimney and lower stone work looks great too, but I wonder if a few more dark bley accents would have helped make it really stand out. Great work on the irregular base too! Really nice entry.
  14. Gosh, can't believe I've missed some of these fantastic challenge builds for so long! SK, again you show your mastery at setting up a realistic and engaging scene. The rockwork and various tiers are very well done. The armory looks great, a lot of steel for the upcoming battles!
  15. A cool looking build, good work with the SNOT sections. Looking forward to the description!
  16. Thanks a lot Kayne, glad I'm not the only one with that problem! Thanks Kai, for the feedback and suggestion! I tried using light bley for the exploded sections but then they looked a little too out of place. I was thinking an easy fix would be to extend the exploded rock further away from the cliffside, but I was afraid of pushing the "reasonable overhang" requirement a little too far. Thanks blufiji! Thanks bud! Thanks LV, glad to see you back! Thank you very much Jorrith! Thanks man! Yeah this is my first Avalonian build and I figured the key was loads of trees and plants! Thanks Captain! Thanks SK, glad to know I'm ok on the dimensions here! Thanks Andrew, I'm looking forward to your contributions around here! Thanks Slegengr! I've become quite partial to that dark green!
  17. Wow Jorrith, can't believe I missed this build until now... this is definitely one of the best challenge builds entered! This is a seriously awesome interior scene, the various details like the fireplace, the lion heads and wooden furniture really make this shine. Great idea with the spy prying up a floor board to take a peek. The rafters/support beams in the upper floor roof are a great touch. Nice story too! Really awesome work!
  18. Haha, a humorous and nicely detailed build! The punishment photo, is that a teaser for a build to come?
  19. Boom! Now here's an excellently done Nocty build! The castle looks great, especially how you built it up from the surrounding landscape. The bonfire up top is a great touch. Love the swamp too, great choice in colors and vegetation! And that giant salamander with the wooden armor... awesome! Overall, a superbly done build... so glad you decided to join Nocturnus! You're definitely making an awesome contribution to the guild!
  20. Fantastic build Evan, great colors and overall wonderful composition. Love the lushness of the scene and those great brick-built sheep (from which set is that cow?). The river looks good too, the carved out sections of the river bank is a technique I haven't seen but looks very natural. That's the type of river bank I look for when I go noodling! The only suggestion I would make is raising the ground adjacent to the river one plate above the water. The crook looks great to me - personally, I prefer purism as much as possible so my hat's off to you for going with a realistic, brick-built version!
  21. Hey Matthew, thanks for the feedback! Hmm... now I'm a little concerned though! The dimensions are 16x64, which is the same number of studs as a 32x32. In the past I have seen challenge build limitations based on stud count rather than actual dimensions - I hope this is true with the Ch. III builds!
  22. Wonderful use of colors here V, the inn looks great with that rounded stone addition. Love the drunk, passed out guy in front of the inn with his drink spilled out. Another inspirational build from a master MOC'er. Very deserving of that MOC Expert title (congrats on that bud, BTW!).
  23. Interesting build and story! Nice forced perspective but yeah, the bush throws it off a little. Anyways, a lot of suspense packed into this build, reminds me of 2001 Space Odyssey!
  24. Hey Drew, welcome to GoH! Your character's background sounds awesome, but it appears you're having some issues embedding your Flickr photos properly. The last one is fine, but the other links don't look like they were added correctly. Anyways, if you're having any troubles, you'll find plenty of help around here! Again, welcome! Look forward to your builds!
  25. Thanks Graham! Thanks a ton LordDan! I appreciate that Behemoth! Thanks! Man, that is a great idea! That would give the rocks a nice "being affected by magic" look. I kinda want to mess with this build before I tear it down, I'll have to give this idea a try. Thanks for the feedback! Wow, thanks Garmadon, glad you liked it! Haha, thank you sir! I have to admit, it's been fun building outside the Darklands for a change. It can get a little depressing over there at times!
