  1. I would recommend to export the ldr to pov using LDview. L3P and stuff is really outdated... You can try if it works with LDview
  2. That looks amazing. A lot of gears 'n stuff (I love gears) into a relatively small package. I always really like your mocs. I've already built the Swingloader and the truck (although both dismantled now, because I needed the parts) and this also looks really nice. Might I ask the usual; any chance for instructions?
  3. For the best results, someone should redraw it to create a new image (vector) instead of a scan
  4. Apart from the beads I linked a few posts up I also bought these beads. The exact same beads in the exact same color you have
  5. I've bought 100 of these balls/beads from ebay. I haven't yet tested the balls in any the Ball Factory yet (I'm still waiting for a lot of bricks, the balls arrived way earlier). But, these beads look about exactly the same size as the Lego balls. They also weigh about the same as the Lego balls. They're not perfectly round though, they have a little ridge where the two halves are glued together or something like that. Because of that ridge (and of course the hole) they don't roll as perfect as the lego balls (and stop rolling earlier on a flat surface). But, they still roll. I have high hopes that these will do perfectly fine in Akiyuki's machine (and other GBC modules)
  6. There's nothing missing there. The step 5 is the end of the submodel and step 12 is a continuation of the main model (step 11 is at page page 7). I have to say that the difference between submodels and the main model is not very clear...
  7. Any news on the LDD file? I'd love to try the model for myself
  8. I can help with the LDraw file if needed I don't know if I have time for full instructions though.
  9. Thanks for the tip. Never thought about ordering them from Lego directly. I've never done that though (apart from a PAB once). Do you maybe have any idea about the price for the balls at Lego?
  10. First of all, I've looked at Lego's instructions for the Market Street or the Cafe Corner and they don't look that bad to me (at least not as bad as the Technic instruction pdfs were at around 2010, those were horrible). What's exactly the problem? But, regarding recreating the instructions in LPub, in theory it's possible. BUT, it would take quite a lot of work. You can't just drop an LDraw file into LPub (LPub uses LDraw files not LDD files) and get some magical instructions out of it. You need to manually add all steps, submodels, layout etc. It does actually sound like a fun challenge to me (I'd like to make instructions for MOCs in LPub every now and then), but on the other hand, it might be better to spend time on creating instructions for models (mocs) that don't have instructions at all
  11. That's something what I'm afraid of when buying some other kind of 14mm balls, that they don't fit or work properly somewhere in the machine. But those Lego balls are annoyingly expensive.
  12. I'm considering building this amazing piece of lego engineering, but (apart from a bunch of parts I have to buy), I don't have any lego balls. I was wondering if anyone knows a cheap alternative to the lego balls that work with this model?
  13. Oops. I meant quality/time ratio. While I was typing the message, in my head I was thinking about quality/performance ratio, but then I also realized (in my head) that it had to be quality/time ratio. However, I still typed the wrong one
  14. Well, I do find Pov-Ray's renders of a higher quality (if everything is setup right). Still, this renderer is probably better when you look at quality/performance ratio
  15. Nice video. How long did it take you to get that huge pile of ice-cream boxes?
  16. I was thinking exactly the same. The part about the McLaren as well as the part about looking good
  17. I was wondering exactly the same...
  18. LDraw files don't include a Lego logo on the studs. The LDraw files just include studs, without anything on top of it. Some editors or viewers (for example LDview) have the ability to add the logo on the studs. This can be done relatively easily, because studs are added as "submodels" in the LDraw part. So a editor or viewer can just replace all studs with a modified stud. I have no idea how the software decides what orientation to use, but I think it just uses the same orientation as the studs. But, a part author doesn't really care about the orientation of the studs, because studs are round (so it doesn't matter how you place them). You could try to rotate all studs in 3947.dat and see if the logo also changes direction in LDview (I suppose you used LDview?). At least, that's what I think what's the "problem" here.
  19. Using this link, you can find a "Download" link at the top-right to download all images in a .zip file
  20. Thanks for the instructions, bj51 The instructions look very good and very well made (as does the car ;). If I can find some free time, I'd like to make an LDraw file of it
  21. I just came across this little fun project by user "DasMatze". (So, let me be clear, this is NOT my work) The link takes you to the LDraw forums, here's the EuroBricks topic, but I thought that people here might be interested as well. It's a game where you have to build a model as if you are a minifig. The models are based on LDraw files. You can read more about it, following the link above.
  22. I don't use LDD very often, but it's still quite a nice little tool
  23. I thought you had all Technic sets. All these years, I was under the, apparently false, impression that you had all sets... Seriously though, is there any reason you don't have that specific set?
