I personally haven't read anything about Bricklink sharing those parts (if they made any themselves at all, I haven't double checked if there really are new parts in stud.io). But, I almost never visit the forums on Bricklink, so I can easily miss news regarding that. That being said, if they made any parts, I don't really expect them to share them since they even password-protect their save-files (which in the end just include LDraw files + some extra stuff)...

I'll receive my Porsche next week (finally found a deal I was satisfied with, although I still think that even the sale price is still ridiculous) and I'm definitely going to build it with this errata by my side. But, I want to thank you already for your great work, Didumos Btw, are there any mods that are nice to have (in your opinion) that aren't in the errata which are best to include while building the set (instead of adding them afterwards)?

Want to move on from brickshelf
legolijntje replied to Takanuinuva's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You don't have to install anything, just download and run. I tried running it yesterday and it seems to work fine on Windows 10. Even if for whatever reason it does not work, you can always right click on the .exe and run in compatibility mode (e.g. run as if you have Windows XP or Windows 7). -
Now that I think of it, the parts-list does have those 2 spring-loaded bricks (they are used in the head), but it doesn't have any of the projectiles you can shoot. So, if you don't have those, you might need to add those to your shopping list too

The earlier mentioned BSbackup worked fine the last time I used it. Having said that, that was a couple of years ago -

Thanks for creating the instructions! Great work Finally that huge pile of Bionicle parts tucked away in the corner proves to be useful for something (Piraka heads) -
The software says it's 45cm high, 44cm long and 15.5cm wide, but I don't know how accurate that is. @Raskolnikov should be able to confirm (or correct) the dimensions.

@Schneeds I just saw the images of that room in your signature. That's an epic room, I love it! Really cool to have that home-cinema decorated with those huge Star-Wars models. It also really shows the size of some of those UCS models. Will the AT-AT get a place in there too?

Thanks all! Great to hear you all like it. It would be great if you'd give us a 'like' on the Rebrickable MOC page, to try to prove that for once a non-Technic moc can win the 'Top MOC competetion' on Rebrickable. @broomhandle: there is no LDD file, but as said Schneeds, you can export the parts list on Rebrickable to a variety of formats, including Bricklink.

Aaaaand... It's up at Rebrickable. Faster than expected! Happy building!

According to my software, it's 45 cm high, but I don't know how accurate that is. Well, even better: they'll be entirely free If everything goes well, the instructions will be finished somewhere this weekend. It'll take a couple of extra days for the parts list to be accepted on Rebrickable.

I thought I was the only one having this problem (I missed this topic), but apparently not. I'm also using a GTX 1070. I think it has something to do with the drivers and not with LDD, since only 10XX cards from Nvidia seem to have this problem. I filed a driver bug report at Nvidia's website. I hope they'll (try to) do something about this. I mean, it's quite a niche problem I think the only thing we can do is bring this to Nvidia's attention (unless it's of course a LDD bug or something, but that seems quite unlikely).

It's indeed a zip file, including what @SylvainLS said. However, I don't understand why it's password protected. Sure, I can understand they want to keep the software closed-source, but the file format? Really? Especially the .ldr files: LDraw is an open-source format, why protect it? At least it's certainly not going to help with the adoption of this software because making third-party tools that can use .io files is going to be quite difficult if you can't access the file...

Ok, so my first impressions: The editor works quite well, very intuitive and easy to get started. Very low learning curve. As indicated earlier, the parts library seems to be LDraw, with custom connection and collision information. So far it seems to quite work well, collisions work a bit like in LDD, but it's possible to turn it off. Also, it's possible to insert 'Steps', just like in LDraw. I'm not sure yet what the use of this is so far for Bricklink, but the steps are included when you export to an LDraw file. However, I haven't been able to find something like a group or submodel feature so for instruction creation it's not that useful (maybe I'm just missing it though). There's also a render button, which renders an image using Pov-Ray. No manual fiddling around with settings and scripts, just click and run. The default render settings seem to be pretty nice actually. I cannot open an .io file in a text editor like LDraw files. It's binary or something. There's also a feature called 'my baseplate' which seems to be some sort of online storage for your models. You can create public and private models and you van view (public) models of others. It also has a browser-based 3D viewer and a 'Step viewer'. Which actually brings me back to one of my earlier pionts: the pupose of those steps: you can order bricks for a model of someone else and use the step-viewer to build those models. There actually even seems to be some sort of submodel feature (because I saw some models using it). I haven't found it yet though So, that are just my very first impressions after using it for 10 minutes or so All together looks very nice and seems to be quite a good mixture between the ease of LDD and the 'power' of LDraw.

So, I also got a beta-invite. It gives warnings everywhere that Windows users should NOT change the default install directory. 'Sure, no problem' I thought, I fire up the installer and it tries to install it on the desktop. What?! Also, the final installation size is 640MB according to the installer. That's quite a lot. EDIT: also interesting, at the end of the installation, the installer asks if you optionally want to install Pov-Ray. Is/will there be Pov-Ray integration? Interesting.

I think it's quite possible to buy all the parts for this AT-AT for under $300, but I have not verified that so don't quote me on it
-
The final part count ended up being 2493 I have a parts list for the model, but it is for a slightly altered version of the AT-AT in the photo-instructions. That's also the reason why I haven't made the parts list public yet, I don't want to create any confusion (my parts list doesn't work with the available photo-instructions and my digital instructions aren't done yet). If you want the parts list, you can send a PM, or wait a few days. I think (hope) I can get the instructions done at around the end of this week.

The digital model is almost finished. I only need to put the 'cannons' (?) on the head, but I don't know the part number of the round piece in this image. Then, I'll start working on some nice 'professional' building instructions. Also, as soon as I have a parts list, I'll publish it for you guys to use. Maybe Raskolnikov could put it on Rebrickable too then. For anyone wondering: number of parts (without the missing cannons) is 2467.

You're working on some big models lately, recifaliste. Nice work!

It's probably not LDraw, at least as far as I know nobody at the LDraw forums has heard about this before the announcement. I think it's either a custom library or the one used by Mecabricks. Those buttons catched my eye too. Especially the collision button. As far as I know it would be the first tool aside from LDD to have collision detection. Also, note that the announcement says that when you use the software with your Bricklink account, you can build together in real-time. Sounds interesting. I wonder if this tool is evolved from MOCBuilder. MOCBuilder was a tool released in 2014 by Bricklink that also included Bricklink part integration and had part-snap based on LDraw. However, that one died quickly.
