LDD Brick Version 2248.1
legolijntje replied to StarWars8Spoiler's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
what I thought above seems to be correct, because it's now official. This update (which added only a single new brick) was because of the contest at the Ideas Testlab: -
LDD Brick Version 2248.1
legolijntje replied to StarWars8Spoiler's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Part 26604 is a part used in set 31058. That set is one of the 4 sets that can be used in the Lego Ideas Testlab contest. It's allowed to enter with digital models too (LDD/LDraw models). So, it's probably a small update because of that contest. -
LDraw on a PC and a Mac?
legolijntje replied to kibosh's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yes. LDraw is a file format and all LDraw software can read and use LDraw files, either on Windows, Linux or Mac and in a multitude of different programs. Although, some programs do add their own specific things into the file. For example, LDCad has its own way of generating flexible parts (which works really well btw). You can view those parts in any LDraw program without a problem, but only LDcad can edit those flexible parts in a meaningful way. Same thing goes for a few other programs and features. -
Well, yes and no. LPub3D doesn't create the instructions (as in the steps and all of that). It's a tool to generate the instructions and make a nice layout. The actual creation of the steps, rotations, submodels all of that is all manually done. It's really a lot of work. I made the digital model using a program called LDcad. It's a really powerful tool, but it does have a slightly steep learning curve. And, it's only for Windows and Linux... Most of the LDraw based software is actually often only for Windows (and Linux). There are a few programs out there for Mac (such as Bricksmith), but they are often not as feature-rich or modern as their Windows 'competitors'. And if you have any other questions regarding LDraw, LDCad, LDD, LPub3D or whatever, feel free to make a topic here.

Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciated Regarding the orientation of the plate 2x2 with technic hole: there's not much I can do about that, it's a limitation of the software. And about zooming in on the head: it's also kind of a limitation of the software. The software (LPub3D btw) always zooms in to the center of the model. There's a hack though; by placing an invisible brick somewhere far away from the model, the center of the model changes and thus the software zooms in to another spot. I didn't really had time to do tricks like that, the instructions were done really quick. I never expected all the enthusiasm and popularity. If I knew that beforehand, I would've certainly done some things differently The other things are relatively easy to fix though, might do that when I have some time.

That's a cool idea! Almost makes me actually wanna buy the set Looking forward to the end result.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion

The airport vehicle looks a lot like this set from 2003 btw (although that's quite obvious, cause they're both representing the same kind of vehicle...) -

Also, looks like 42070 has a sticker with UW on the front. Would that mean that the designer is Uwe Wabra? -

Technic 2017 Set Discussion

Wow, I was under the impression every year had 5 H1 sets and 5 H2 sets, but apparently most sets are already H1 nowadays. Never realized that -
Technic 2017 Set Discussion

Thing is, so far we've seen only 3 out of (probably) 5 or 6 models, so who knows... Maybe they keep the best stuff as a surprise. But yeah, so far, 2016 looks way better. -
Technic 2017 Set Discussion
legolijntje replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You know, I think it's really nice they keep producing Technic panels in more and more colors. But the annoying this is that I keep wanting to collect those more and more colors. And Technic panels are often relatively 'expensive' on Bricklink so I often just buy the whole set, because for a 'few' euros extra I get a couple hundred (thousand) extra parts. And it looks like they're using more panels every year. Whoosh! There goes some money. Ah well, we'll see. My first impression based on that image: looks cool, but so far last year was waaay better. -
Lego instruction software
legolijntje replied to Robenanne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The only instructions-program for LDD as far as I know is Blueprint. There are a couple more for LDraw, of which the most widely used one is LPub3D. I'm personally a heavy user of LPub3D and I think it's pretty nice. Other than that, I don't think there is really anything else I'm afraid...- 6 replies

Technic Pub

It looks like I have an unpopular opinion, but imo the 16T gears are a little too detailed. And, the 16T gear is also being used for the Technic tag, Technic Pro tag and the bronze, silver and gold Technic medals. I personally think an 8T gear would look better. And, it also official exists in LBG, DBG and red -
Nice work! When the first (preliminary) images of this set appeared online, I instantly knew that this would make a super fun project to make remote controlled. So, I bought one early last year (or late 2015, can't remember), but in the end, I never started modding it Still a cool set though. Your version looks to perform pretty nice. Also very cool that you also made the claw controlled by a string. The claw in the original set was so awkward to control with the controls on the claw itself. And the sound effects are also obviously the star of this build Nice work!

Nathan is like extremely busy at the moment upgrading/fixing/'firefighting' the new major Rebrickable 'V3' update, so I don't know if he'll reply very quickly But in the end, I believe these images come from Lego itself, so I think it's not that big of a deal. -
This is about the only 1H 2017 set that I'd really like to buy. The other sets are kinda meh, just some nice parts packs here and there. But this set is actually quite nice. And I've never bought a Technic motorcycle before either, so it's extra nice Nice review @Siegfried!

Posts like these don't belong in this topic. You can post your LDraw files of official Lego sets here and that's about it. Please don't talk about your own creations or anything else here.
