  1. MOC Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR in Lego Technic Dear friends of the LEGO Technic theme world, in this post I present you my latest MOC of the VW Golf GTI TCR. The model has an elaborate front axle for the front-wheel drive, a 4-speed DSG transmission, steering, brake and a pneumatic lifting system. I used two SBricks for control. My version is built with 3d printed wheels, but lego wheels fit, too. Drive: 2 XL motors Steering: 1 servo motor Gearbox: 2 servo motors Brake: 1 M motor Control: 2 SBricks Light: 3 pairs of LEDs First, I'll show you a picture and the YouTube Video In the following I would like to introduce you to the individual functions and the history of the project. Preparations: In 2017 I saw a photo of the prototype for the first time and as a VW fan I knew directly that this would be my next project. Because there were no blueprints from this vehicle, I took the blueprints of the basic model, VW Golf 7, and overlaid it with appropriate pictures of the vehicle. The scale was set with the choice of tires (Wheel 56mm D. x 34mm, Tire 68.8 x 36 ZR (15038 / 44771)), to 1: 9. After that I converted all dimensions into studs. Construction of the front axle: Now it was time to get the bricks out of the boxes. First, I built the front axle. The model has a front-wheel drive with Ackermann geometry, caster, stabilizer, suspension and brake. The drive axle for the fake engine runs in the lower part of the axle to couple directly to the XL motors in the back. Without consideration of the Ackermann geometry, I have created a YouTube video for the front axle. For the construction manual I am not sure if I should install the Ackermann geometry there. Some used parts are very rare and expensive. In the video you can also see how the brake works. By rotation, two rubber bricks are pressed against the differential. With the SBrick control, I have created a sequence that first lets the M motor press against the differential and releasing it again. Due to the scale a disc brake was not possible in the wheel. The suspension was massively strengthened in the course of the project, so that the vehicle weight is held up. Unfortunately, the stabilizer (red) has no longer a technical function. YouTube - Front axle Construction of the rear axle: For the rear axle, I initially had the idea that the wheels should have a slight camber. I have implemented this as followed. Maybe someone else can use this. However, this was implemented later due to the vehicle weight and the desire that a multi-link axle by VW is represented. Construction of the 4-speed DSG transmission: The construction of the transmission took the most time. I wanted a transmission that could be controlled blind with the smartphone. It should work reliable and without constant monitoring of the moving parts. In addition, it had to be so small that it fits "between" the front seats (The model has like the original only a driver's seat.) and under the seat, but in front of the drive module. Overall, it was very limited. Here is a photo of the final version, which is very trivial operated with two servos. One servo controls the 1st and 3rd gear, and the other servo controls the gears 2 and 4. This allows quick and smooth switching. An extra video is also available. YouTube - Gearbox Construction of the pneumatic lifting system: At that moment I was done with the chassis. However, the pneumatic lifting system fascinated me and in other MOCs something like that was already realized. Since there was still room for the necessary works, I developed and installed three modules with cylinders. Here's an example of how I built the front left cylinder. In general: I built and organized the entire model in modules. The chassis is subdivided into the following submodels: front axle, transmission module, drive module and rear axle. The rear lifting cylinder is integrated in the drive module. The front lift cylinders connect to the transmission module. Then all modules can be assembled to the entire chassis and fastened with a few connectors. Other modules are the fake engine and the dashboard with steering gear for the moving steering wheel. The conclusion has formed the body. Again, I worked with many submodels, so you could always work on small to medium sized submodels. This has especially facilitated my work in the Stud.io program. The entire model is already built in BrickLink’s Stud.io with all building steps. I am still considering whether I should offer the construction manual for sale or keeping it unique. Too many companies are copying MOCs and do not refer to the artists. You can find more pictures on BrickSafe or my Social Media channels on Facebook and Instagram. Give me a feedback and ask your questions here in the thread. I like to explain the things even further in detail. I love the render function in Stud.io :-)
  2. *Your entry has earned 17 XP* After we've successfully managed to get a heavy-duty cargo container at one of the abandoned warehouses of the old Tie fighter factory here at Foundry, we only have one task left. We need to find and pick up the medical supplies somewhere. A rumor shows, that on Foundry is an old, but still operating Medical base. Former Techno Union members are experimenting with some medical Nano-Droid as high efficient cures. Since the Trade Federation was wiped, most of them only survived in black market. They are our best change to fight the epidemic on Kuat. Our diplomats are already on their way to meet their leaders, but based on our previous experience with Skakoans, there are some tough negotiations ahead. Later... I've just received the message about the location of the medical facility. It looks like the they have made the deal, I don't now the details, but I heard Coaxium was involved too. After we've arrived to the base, their old and rusty droids immediately started loading our container with crates. During the loading time, the leader of the labor showed me their product and some of their and the production process. Skakoans can be very proud of their work, especially if something unique was created. You can find more details above:
  3. *Your entry has earned 4 XP (x2 for limited challenge)* After or "adventures" on Foundry, we finally headed out to Kuat to deliver the package... We have reached the ring of the planet and it looks like the Commenor Remnant already has a visible presence in this sector. The Remnant often uses all kind of cruisers, like the Dreadnought class, instead of Stardestroyers. After the fall of the Great Empire, not much big capital ships are remained and their can't be as effective nowadays as smaller capital ships, because the amount of crew is the weak part.
  4. *Your entry has earned 4 XP (x2 for limited challenge)* The Commenor Remnant has quite good accesability to old imperial equipment, such as old ships. As now the conditions on Kuat aren't the greatest, we had a good use of a wared down Arrestor cruiser. The ship has been sent to Fedalle to warn the travellers about the risks of visiting Kuat and to steer the not necessary traffic away from there.
  5. *Your entry has earned 8 XP* Somewhere on the desert planet Molavar... Sr. Stormtrooper Sergeant, TK427: I don't get it son. Every night you clean that armor. Y'know the remnant ain gonna give two pieces of bantha pudu... Cadet, TK1144: I don't like sand. It gets in everywhere! /// Sorry for the quick build, I wanted to get something out before I go for a short vacation.
  6. *Your entry has earned 10 XP* * I know, I'm very late, but I wasn't able to finish my build before the deadline. I wanted to complete the MOC as I've planed anyway, so here is it: Risdi So'la is a collector of ancient relics. She is traveling trough the galaxy, searching for hidden treasures. As a Chiss, she is a skilled warrior too and she takes good advantage of her abilities often. Her latest research is lead her to a ruined temple on the planet Fedalle. She've found the object, what she was looking for, but a couple unexpected difficulties too. Native spider crabs nested into the ruins. 7. *Your entry has earned 15XP* During the time of the Old Republic a Jedi task force, led by the Cathar Jedi Master Kainai, was sent to examine a powerful dark side current in the force, on the volcanic planet Sarapin, uncovered by Vodo-Siosk Baas through meditation. The current came from an ancient and very powerful sith holocron that had been activated in the depths of the forgotten temple on Sarapin. The four jedi were steadily moving deeper into the maw of darkness. Unaware but inevitably moving closer to their fatal fate... /// Seedpart is the black stud shooters making the pattern in the tile floor. The unknowing jedi moving further into the temple... To their ultimate demise... /// Let me know what you think... ;) Below is some behind the scenes and detail shots... I hope you enjoy... ;)
  8. *Your entry has earned 9XP* Mission Log from Cpt. Bannon: After retaking our base on Dennaskar, high command has tasked us with rounding up additional rebels and insurgents from surrounding systems and escort them to the top secret IDS Incarcerator orbiting the backwater planet Molavar. These prisoners are supposedly an important part of Operation Stronghold. The Incarcerator was the last of its kind of Imperial Lictor-class dungeon ships. After the loss at the battle of Endor, warden commander Col Gran hid the IDS Incarcerator in the Outer Rim. Commander Col was eventually contacted by Admiral Rovv and convinced to join the Commenor Remnant cause and remain a secret known only to Rovv and a few high standing members of the remnant. The IDS Incarcerator was a highly modified Lictor-class ship, designed as an inescapable supermax prison. All prison cells onboard the ship has two entrances. One leading into the ship, and the other towards the empty vacuum of space, with only a ray shield keeping the prisoners from being sucked into oblivion. A little peek behind the scenes... Let me know what you think. :) Cheers
  9. *Your entry has earned 23XP* After the battle of Jakku and the destruction of the Empire, we alongside the remaining troops, traveled from planet to planet on board of cruisers and corvettes. We lived onbroad of the ships for months, but on most of that, we only got a couple beds in crowded rooms. As we joined to the Commenor Remnant, we continued to serve as a Special Forces Squad. We found an old Imperial AT-Hauler in an abandoned depot. These kind of ships were used to move cargo and Walkers around the battles, and it's perfect for our missions. I've got powerful engines, hyperdrive, armoured cockpit and even a shower for longer trips. However, we've made some modifications to the vehicle, we added a couple more seats to it and a bed too, that makes the interior a bit more crowded, but now we all can sit down in the cockpit and someone from the team could always rest onboard. The other big change, we made, is that we needed to update the navigation computer, to allow us to travel wherever we need. The main place of our Faction is Commenor, which was an Imperial planet like many others surrounding ones. Uquine was a modern Imperialized world with great agricultural past. After the fall of the Empire, a these planets becomed independent, but some place remained loyal to the legacy of the Empire. Usually when we need to go back to Commenor, we are accommodated in a hotel at one of Uquine's main city, Urqanis. This building was formerly used by imperial officers and special guests, and now it's offered to the Remnant. It's funny, how I got the Room No. 2 on the 22nd floor, since my codename as a Stormtrooper was TG-0222. Now this place is the closest thing to be called "home", here we can relax a bit between the missions.
  10. *Your entry has earned 15XP* Mission Log from Cpt. Bannon: Our second mission to Dennaskar was to regain control and if possible recover my former squad. We tracked the attackers to the back entrance of B Dock, an old imperial facility, where the outlaws had set up an ambush. We were prepared. Two squads of stormtroopers and an AT-ST neutralized the attackers. The survivors have either been captured, or escaped deeper into the forest. Our casualties have been minimal. No sign of the missing squad. These outlaws seems to be a breakout cell of the former rebellion against the empire. I will try to get more information out of the ones we captured. It will not be an easy task to get these scum to talk subjugated the Galactic Concordance. Hopefully they are not aware. Until the leadership advice I will continue my investigation from our new base of operation. Cpt. Bannon commands and leads his troops into battle... The outlaws are making a last effort... The first squad of stormtroopers supported by Cpt. Bannon's death troopers... Troops behind cover... Star Destroyers above Dennaskar... Some behind the scenes photos: Let me know what you guys think... :)
