  1. Here is an animation I made for my Lego Ideas project, Air Galleys, using POV-ray: See more renderings and the full project at: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/108617 The most difficult part to animate was the flapping motion of the wings. At first I considered using a simple sine curve for the angle of the wings but the results were unsatisfactory. I ended up modeling the physical constraints of the model; as the wing shafts rest on the bottom of the ports they protrude from, their bases rotate with the gear they are connected to. As their contact point on the gear drops beneath the ledge of the port, the wings rise slowly and then quickly fall again as the opposite occurs. Here is a diagram:

    Koopaling's airship

I built this airship, in the style of the newer Mario games, to showcase my Koopalings at Brickworld Koopalings' airship by Cecilie Fritzvold, on Flickr

[HSH] Cat A - Rock Wranglers!

Looks like I still made the deadline! Rock Wranglers Rock Wranglers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr High above the desert plains below, Mr. Hezekiah Arrup checks his instruments in preparation for another day of work. Aided by his assistant, Sam Weskill, Mr. Arrup is one of the few brave pioneers who have popularly become known as “Rock Wranglers,” men who risk their lives in the pursuit of energy harvested from the skies—in the form of the rare and energy-rich triflutamine gas, that is. What is triflutamine gas, you say? It is an extremely rare, lighter-than-air substance which is generally found in rich deposits contained within floating rocks. Why, Mr. Arrup’s very base of operations is built upon one of these rocks. Rock Wranglers! by rodiziorobs, on Flickr The process is simple but perilous: when the two scout a viable sample for extraction, they fire a cannon with a winch and grappling hook at it, then reel it in closer until they can use the pick to open a hole just large enough to insert a tap and draw out the triflutamine. If the rock they wish to extract is not within range, Mr. Arrup sets out in his airship, the AeroCrow, and tows their home rock a little closer. Mssrs. Arrup and Weskill have everything they need to keep them for several months--of particular note (besides Mr. Arrup's precious weather instruments) is a triflutamine-powered vapor condenser, which collects water vapor from the air, purifying it and trapping it in a cistern for the adventurers’ use. This along with the small kitchen and sleeping quarters comprises Mssrs. Arrup and Weskill’s lofty lodgings, which they call home sweet home. The MOC measures about 56 studs long by 22 wide; however, it fits easily inside a 48x48 space when placed diagonally. See more photos on my Flickr page: rodiziorobs
  4. Behold! My first microscale model. It took a lot out of me. C/C appreciated.

    MOC: Brickbuilt Man-o-War Airship

Here it is! 6. Here is my first-ever render! However, since it is sci-fi, I post it here, right? I looked around and that seems to be correct. If it isn't, I apologize admins! Behold, the Indomitable Rush! This ship blatantly steals ideas from both my Man-o-war airship and my Manticore mech. But the end result, I think, still looks original.

    MOC Steampunk Ramship

Here is one I've been holding onto for some time. This is probably my oldest lasting creation. I just never got around to photographing it. To get pieces for my big airship I had to scrap it but I thought I'd take some commemorative shots prior to that. Here she is, the Ramship! As you can see, it depends on both new and old brown which may be why I haven't posted it until now. What do you think of it?

    Make Love Not War

This MOC was done by my wife (anabanana) for the contest. She asked me to public this on EB. She will be glad to read your comments. Year 1967 United States under pressure after the Vietnam War. Young couple Judith and Ray travels everywhere on their painted minibus "Volkswagen» (T1 Sumba bus). They are making friends and discovering new cities. The world for them is limitless! Especially because they have their own ... blimp! They deliberately rejected the choice of their fellow students of the Purdue University in Indiana to work for military defense. Instead, they decided to build an airship and go by it, bringing peace to the world. And what should it be? Of course freight! After all, where they can go without their "Volkswagen"? It would be great to control the airship from the bus then the gondola is not necessary. Judith and Ray found many like-minded people, and together airship rose skyward. This cargo airship can lift Judith, Ray and their minivan. The balloon has 4 stabilizers and two propellers. The platform is attached to the four beams that are connected in pairs holding tank with two black wide wire ropes. And there's an interesting feature: the minivan on the flight becomes cockpit. Ray made the controls of Volkswagen to be the controls of the airship by the radio waves.

    WIP Airship

I try not to turn to outside sources much for my builds, but when I have to do them solely on Digital Designer, at first, for the cost I find myself wanting help and encouragement. Pixels are much less satisfying than actual plastic. So, here is my latest airship. It is quite a departure to some of my other stuff, being much bigger in scale. Please tell me what you think. I need to know if it's worth continuing or if I should scrap it. The problem with it, really, is the cost of actual bricks. I would love any advice on how to finish it and also on if it's worth the price (I estimate it will be +100 US dollars). Comments/Criticism Appreciated!

    MOC: The Airborne Jade

Behold! The Airborne Jade! Originally a cargoship, this adventuring vessel was first commandeered by it's heroic pilot, Edvar Figgens, after he had an encounter with the Musina's Royal Air Police. Being an adventurer, Figgens of course did not pay for the airship but merely jumped into the controls while it's original pilot was eating a spicy sausage. Adventurers are not complete without a few scantily-clad females. Figgens has two. One was originally the mistress to a wealthy crime lord in Bulava. The other was part of the crew that manned the Airborne Jade when it was still a cargoship. Their names are unimportant, they are just garnishes, in the old heroic chauvinistic fashion. This was a really fun build. Please tell me what you think of it!
