    [MOC] Star Defender 350

Beautiful! I love the "full padded leather interior in stylish beige"!

    Starglider

Lovely - that colour combination, simple as it is, works so effectively, and the I love what you call the "chunky" aesthetic. The two prongs, in particular, give it a very muscular feel, and I'm happy that even I was able to see the wonderful possibilities in the Nexagon piece when my son built one of the Nexo Knight mech-type sets a few weeks ago. It's nice to see my suspicions confirmed in such a nice build!

    Adventures End

I love the shark in the "tank" - very Damien Hirst!

    MOC - Oasis of Tears

Wonderful! I love the fortress - beautiful colours and excellent shaping - but I also love what looks like a stargate, with the dragon's head poking through. Beautifully done. The little robots are a nice addition, as is the use of the Aladdin Disney collectible minifigure. That's a perfect detail!

    [MOC] DF-47 Starfighter

Wow! That's beautiful. Excellent colour blocking, and like LegoMonorailFan, I think the angled cockpit is terrific. I particularly like the cluster of tanks and capsule-like structures in the main body, where the wings join it. Fantastic. Like Leonardo, I'm also wondering where the solar panel tiles come from.

    [MOC] Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Yes, I have most of a white one built, hachiroku, and I can tell you that it looks good - your design is excellent. I really want to build a black one too, but I have to order some parts before I can make a real start on it. I'm afraid that you've started me down the path of Speed Champions-style car builds, which I'm beginning to realize require a LOT of small parts - 1x1 plates, 1x2 plates, 1x4 plates, lots tiles of various sizes, a LOT of brackets, and lots of small slopes. At least most of the bricklink orders I make will be pretty compact!

    [MOC] Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Built this a couple of days ago - very nice build. The roof attachment is a little weak, but it's a small price to pay for something that looks so cool! I'm waiting on parts to build a white and blue version - a classic Mustang colour-combination! After that, I'm very tempted to build a few different colour variants - Red and white, Dark Red and White, Black and White. Excellent stuff!

LEPIN ripping off STAR WARS MOCs

Since it involves two large businesses, there are, of course, lots of aspects to this that complicate things, but I have to say that it always bothers me when people say that they don't care about intellectual property rights. The issue affects me directly, and when something I've published is translated into another language without my consent and/or made available in a format that deprives me of royalties (as has happened more than once), it is far from inconsequential to me. Perhaps as a result of that, I'm more inclined to be on the side of IP laws, whether they pertain to a large company or a single author, artist, or designer trying to make a living for himself or herself in the field which those IP laws cover. If we only ever cared about things that affect us directly, where would we be, exactly, in terms of civil rights, human rights, environmental law, and more? Intellectual property law is part of the same discussion. The fact that Lego is a large company does not mean that IP laws should protect them any less than they protect me (in as much as they do, that is). I admit that the converse is also true - those laws should never protect a large business more than they protect others - but that is absolutely not what is at issue in this particular discussion.
  9. Flash Speeder - at a great price on Amazon (I think I got very lucky), and the Force Awakens Millennium Falcon at $40 off. I had been eyeing it up for months, and decided to bite the bullet and go ahead and get it, for two reasons. Reason #1 Build it with my six-year old son, who loves the Falcon, and 2# Use it as part of a large Mos Eisley spaceport diorama that I really want to build. Tan baseplates galore, tan and dark brown bricks, slopes, plates, and arches, and bits to make Moisture Vaporators - all from a few Bricklink hauls. I'm looking forward to some building!
  10. Stunning! I know little/next to nothing about robotics, but have always been fascinated by the ability of the human brain to make thousands of on the fly calculations in order to catch something (a ball, etc.), and to see a lego-built robot do the same thing is nothing short of a marvel. It's funny that I've happened to see your post/video while I'm in hospital having undergone one spinal cord surgery to correct a neurological hiccup, and waiting on a second. I'm taking this as a good sign, and it's cheered my up no end! Marvelous! If Lego can do this, so can I (although I bet you robot has better clutch power than I do!)

    Scissor lift

That's perfect! I'll be borrowing the idea to build access lifts for my Star Wars fighters, none of which have any viable way for pilots to get into the cockpit (except for the stairs with the new Naboo Fighter, I suppose, although I don't have it yet). Lovely stuff!

    Minifig scale Star Wars sets

The latest B-Wing (from last year?) seems pretty close to perfect mini-fig scale, I think, although I haven't done the measurements/mathematics., and have never seen the UCS in hand to know better about it. Would I also be right in thinking that the 2014 (?) A-Wing is close as well? It seems just a little bigger than the new one (in the set with the Advanced Tie), and it's always struck me as a very compact ship, so looks right, particularly compared to the various Jedi Starfighters with the sort of bubble canopy, which really seem too small (although I like the second-most recent one a lot in terms of shape). This is a good question, though. I love mini-figure scale when it comes to spaceships.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I've always liked the look of the Parisian Restaurant, but while the Detective's Office might be less "flashy" looking, it's a wonderful build, with lots of really nice techniques. However, I always feel the best set to get is the one you like most. Seems obvious, I know, but why complicate the decision?

[MOC] Modular Building : Book Shop

Beautiful! I love the white window facades, and the creepy attic is great - a really nice way to cap off a fantastic build. I didn't see one, but is there a cat anywhere? I ask, because cats are very common in small independent bookstores, at least here in the U.S. I'm not certain why that's the case, but I'm an English professor, and spend a lot of time in independent bookstores, and nine times out of ten they have a cat! Excellent build!
  15. This is excellent. A lovely shape, and the red looks fantastic. And the torpedo tubes are genius. Oh, love the utility sub too. All round great job.

    [MOC] Modular inner corner park

That's a great idea - it looks fantastic next to the Brick Bank. Excellent stuff - I love the cobblestone effect with the use of 1x1 round tiles, and the brick built tree is lovely. I always love to see a nice brick built tree!

On the way to the forum

Those mosaics are beautiful! And the statuary is fantastic. Plus, the scale of that thing! Fantastic. The golden retriever in your profile picture also deserves a comment - a fine looking dog! I love Golden Retrievers (although currently I don't have one - current roster is a yellow lab, a Chow/Black lab cross, and a Pyrenean Mountain Dog who reminds me a lot of the goldens I used to have). I have to add - the colored wall detail is also wonderful. Great stuff.

    [MOC] 10 light-years...

Yes! I see it - where the tubing connects on the bottom-right of the cryo-pod on the left. Lovely detail.

    [MOC] 10 light-years...

Love it! The cryo-pods are beautiful, both in design and in the changing of just a single trans-coloured tile to help tell the story. And speaking of tiles, for me it's the two tones of blue tiles running perpendicularly through the build that really bring it all together. It's gorgeous! Actually, I just noticed another detail - the trans-light blue cylinders in the vertical pipe on the left seem to represent that there is coolant running through the pipe, as the trans-clear cylinders in the pipe on Marc's side seem to indicate that there's no longer any coolant flowing to his cryo-pod. Was that the intention? It's a lovely detail!

    Mariner Hotel Modular MOC

Gorgeous. It's got a lovely symmetry of both colour and shape (I love how the white and tan are inverted on the second and third floors, for example), and I love the front doorway and door - the shape of the arch echoing the shape of the door is lovely, and the wooden door itself contributes a lot to the Mariner theme in a nice, subtle way. The texturing around the windows is very nicely handled, I think, and I love the balconies - the only part that catches at my eye in a negative way is the gear detail over the windows on the top floor. Actually, it's not the detail itself, I think. It seems to sit a little too proud of the wall, pushing it beyond (or at least level with) the depth of the arch. And as a final point, the roof is beautiful - I'll be using that on my own builds, if I can ever get around to them!

    [MOC] Imperial Star Destroyer Tyrant

I'm a little late to the party, Raskolnikov, but that Star Destroyer is absolutely beautiful. The detailing on the exterior alone is worth examining for a crash-course in Lego starship greebling, but it's the proportions (of the engines, for example) that are crucial to how effective it is, I think. And then to cap it all off, a staggeringly good interior. My jaw was already hanging down to the floor when I got to the pictures of the hangar. Outstanding. My son is six years old, and as a result of his interest in Lego I'm coming out of a long Dark Age. We build things together, and he'd love to build a spaceship - he's asked a few times. Now I'm torn - do I show him this, and then have him forever disappointed that we could never even get close to something as impressive as this, or not show it to him? I will show it to him, of course, and I'll hope that what it does it inspire him and me both to just get building. Marvelous. Absolutely marvelous.

    10251 Brick Bank

That's what I was thinking, lightningtiger. In fact, I picked up that very bird in a recent Bricklink order to use as the Maltese Falcon in Ace Brickman's office!

    10251 Brick Bank

The problem, I think, is that there's always going to be something that somebody doesn't like, even if it's something small. Overall, I think it's a beautiful modular, even though there are a couple of elements that I'm not certain about (for me, the ingot bricks used as detailing on the façade just don't look right, and the detailing on the roof cornice looks odd to me too). I think it's a beautiful modular, with a nice sense of fun as well, and I'm more than willing to overlook the minor details that I'm not certain about, or to just accept that I will eventually change them/mod them. I love the Detective's Office, which is the only modular I have so far, and in the pictures I've seen the bank looks wonderful beside it, so I'll be getting it, no doubt. I love the neo-classical façade, I love the doorway on the side (rather than on the corner), and the clock on the corner. I may mod the Laundromat into something else - somebody on this thread had the great idea of changing it into an entrance bay for a security van. I like this set a lot.

    [MOC] Modular Tailor

This is wonderful, Peedeejay! It's not just the architectural details that you've captured in Lego bricks, it's the fact that it's so full of life and colour. Also, just from a practical point of view, I love you have handled the stairs, and access to the upper floors in general. Beautiful! I've saved the pictures so that I can try to capture something of what you've done in my future MOCs!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I only have one modular (the Detective's Office), as I'm just emerging from my Dark Ages, but I like the sound of the new set! The bank itself sounds like it could be really impressive and imposing, and I love the idea of a Laundromat (it's on my list of modulars to build). I may end of modding the Laundromat attached to the bank to be something else, and then transferring the Laundromat to its own baseplate and expanding on it. Good news, this! My son will love it too - plenty of play opportunities for his superhero minifigures!
