Challenge I: A Storm Brewing

Recommended Posts

Deadline extended to April 7

Strange events have been taking place in the New Haven sea - ships gone missing, unusual weather patterns, kraaken sightings, and billowing volcanoes - and now it's the bravest of the brave who are venturing out to find out what's up!

Category A - build an MOC to show what is going on in the New Haven seas - no explanation of what caused the events is necessary (though of course you can specify or speculate), just show us what is actually happening!  Either sea or land-based builds are allowed, but they must take place within the New Haven Sea zones.  32x32 maximum size.

Category B - This is a story category - get us interested in your characters, the strange occurences in the New Haven sea, and excited to find out what happens next!  For this category you must introduce us to your figs (either you main character, secondary characters, or completely new ones!) - you can do this however you like, from pictures of your minifigs on a plate to a dedicated MOC or hero shots! - and 2+ builds telling your story!  No minimum or maximum except your ambition (and time).

Note: you may include your Category A build as part of your story (Cat. B) entry if you like, but it will not be counted with your other (2+) builds towards the final judging score.

Deadline: March 31st  April 7

Post your entries in this topic!

Prizes:

First place winners in both categories will get their choice from four custom Brethren of the Brick Seas faction minifigures commissioned from Rocky Mountain Minifigs. Second place winners in each category will get to choose from the remaining prize figures not selected by the first place winners. Prizes generously sponsored by @Jeff of Clubs.

As promised, we'll be keeping you busy with a number of transition challenges while we're waiting for all the details and automation work for Era III to be completed, so clear your building spots and get hyped!  A few general rules:

  • Entries must be linked in this thread, and should have [TC] prefixed to the title of your post (Transition Challenge).
  • All entries must be new builds, blah blah blah, you know the drill.
  • Prizes: First place winners in both categories will get their choice from four custom Brethren of the Brick Seas minifigures commissioned from Rocky Mountain Minifigs. Second place winners in each category will get to choose from the remaining prize figures not selected by the first place winners. See above spoiler for mockup of figures.  Digital entries are allowed and will be judged together with the physical entries

Ohh this is so cool. I'm gonna jump on this. Do we just post it to this thread?

Post it as a separate topic in the BoBS Forum with the 'Transition Challenge' preface [TC] and then link that topic here in a reply.

Welcome aboard!

I tried a windy build a while back. New pocohontas hair could be good :)

My first thought was a microscale build of an island with either a volcanic eruption our some big waves hitting the shores. But i am not so much into microscale... :pir_laugh2:

Hi, can we increase the maximum size? 32x32 is pretty small!

EDIT: I already have a build that fits.

Can you participate more often? I have another idea for category A...

You could segway it into Cat B if it's the same characters?

My other ideas are to different to segway them into cat B. But maybe I build some Transition Builds just for fun. (Not participating for prizes).

Category A: Sailing to the New Haven Sea

This entry will not take part in the challenge! Consider my entry in Category A as inspiration

If it's possible...

Technically no but the world is ending and it could be dismissed as a rumor.

How are the winners determined? Do we get to vote?  Or is there a panel of judges?

When will the winners be announced?
