mifody Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) All greetings! I represent to your attention the review of a novelty of 2011 4643 Power Boat Transporter!!! Stats Set name: Power Boat Transporter Set number: 4643 Theme: City Subtheme: Harbour Release date: 2011 Minifigs: 2 Pieces: 254 The Box The sizes of a box approximately as at a set 7686! Contents Minifigs Details The Build - boat Comparative photo with other boats: - truck - trailer Finished Model Spare details of a set: Comparative photo with a set 7686: And so, a small result: It is possible to carry to set pluses a truck design (the windshield especially was pleasant); a boat which can swim on water and all! And here the set has more than minuses: a small quantity of details; not so successful design of the trailer; a huge box; again labels!!! But at all thus - the set is smart, and I don't feel sorry for a droplet about its acquisition!!! Edited May 15, 2011 by Zorbas Indexed
Vindicare Posted May 14, 2011 Nice set, I don't get why they're race suits are the blue octan torsos when there's no blue or octan sponsors on the boat. The boat is well designed and very sleek looking.the hauler is cool as well. Also, with the license plates, I'm assuming the "JL" Is referring to the designer of the set? I've always wondered what they stood for, if anything. Seeing as the numbers are the set number I'm assuming the letters are that.
L@go Posted May 14, 2011 Thank you for the review! It's informative and has helped me stick with my decision not to get this set. The idea is so good, but in my opinion the design is very poor. It's far too <insert that tiresome argument> and simple for my taste. And that steering wheel in the middle of the windscreen? Very strange. Don't like it. All is possible and it is necessary to alter!
lightningtiger Posted May 14, 2011 Thanks for the review 'mifody', boat - , trailer - fair, prime mover - cab best part. Sorry to say this is the worst set of 2011. I'll build a prime mover out of scrap parts, but I wont be buying this set. The other harbour sets have caught my interest. Brick On everyone !
Fuzzylegobricks Posted May 14, 2011 I agree with LT that it is a bad one. But the truck is pretty nice.
Arigomi Posted May 14, 2011 It looks like there was a memo to the designers that they had to use those extremely long slope bricks as much as possible. It seems to be popping up in all sorts of sets despite its limited usefulness.
XimenaPaulina Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks for sharing this pictorial review mifody! Not really a bad set IMO, though not that great either, I'll give it an average rating.
dr_spock Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks for the review. It is not a bad set. I think there is room for improvements. Since it is Lego, we can always MOD it to our personal tastes.
LEGO AFOL Posted May 15, 2011 I really like the color scheme.
Zorbas Posted May 15, 2011 Very nice review with lots of photos, thanks mifody! Although that it's not something too mind blowing, it's still a nice concept for the Harbour subtheme. The truck with the trailer is average but the speedboat looks pretty good and the colour scheme works great.
gogocar Posted May 15, 2011 Very nice and detailed review. The set looks fairly good. Thanks, mifody!
Big Cam Posted May 15, 2011 Excellent review! The set doesn't completely blow me away but the functionality of LEGO sets continue to improve over the years and this is no exception. Thanks for the review with so many wonderful pictures!
jangofett Posted May 15, 2011 Nice review I still cant whether to get one or not. cheers jango
The Yellow Brick Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks for the review Mifody . I'm actually quite excited for this set to arrive. mainly for the boat not the truck. The colour scheme is great and the design of the boat is very modern. I'm sure it will fit into anybody's city
Gryphon Ink Posted May 15, 2011 Lego needs to find a new "corporate sponsor" for the Legoverse. It seems like Octan sponsor everything in the world from farm vehicles to auto racing, and now two of the boat sets for this year feature Octan uniforms. Octan is starting to seem like Weyland-Yutani. The boat itself is a nice sleek design, but the truck design is a little too bland and boxy. I'd rather get the Fishing Boat and mod that hull into a racing boat.
Masked Builder Posted May 15, 2011 Not a bad set! Nothing I'm going to get but still good looking. Great work.
YavinBase Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks for the good review. IMO I feel that LEGO didn't do a good job on designing this set, especially the cab of the trailer. The windshield is too tall, and the steering wheel sets too high. LEGO has been including doors on the recent releases of their trucks, but this doesn't have any. There are also no exhaust pipes. The best design feature is the side view mirrors. The only LEGO trucks that I own are 7900 and 7998 and they have spoiled me. I feel that these trucks are more accurate than their successors since the cabs fit two minifigures comfortably and the tire heights and cab heights seem to be more in scale with the minifigures. LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 16, 2011 Great review 'mifody'. I highly anticipate getting this set, though I am definitely waiting for a discounted price. Anyone know how the size of this boat compared to the one from 1996?
LEGO AFOL Posted May 16, 2011 When will this arrive in Singapore. Can't wait.
Out of Sight Posted May 17, 2011 I see many differing opinions so far, some like the truck some like the boat, and some don't like it at all. Well I'm in between, it's not bad actually, i kinda like the upright windscreen..looks like typical modern Euro cabover, heck looks like a Scania R series. if it came with doors, it would be perfect. I'll be getting this set merely just to add to the growing collection and my affection for six wide articulated truck. the color scheme and powerboat really sets it apart. earl grey Posted May 22, 2011 The colour scheme is nice, really catches the eye. Is this set already available in Russia? Haven't seen it in the stores.
Aanchir Posted May 31, 2011 Very nice review! I wish there were more words and not just a lot of pictures, but it still reveals a lot about this set. I really appreciate the comparison shots, as I was worried that this boat was far too large, but compared to other LEGO vehicles including the classic River Runners (my first set!), it seems to be a more reasonable size than I expected. Still feels a bit long, but it no longer strikes me as ridiculously so. Some of my favorite features are the streamlined stripes on the boat and the way the helmets and life jackets are stored on the trailer. The motor is a nice detail I hadn't anticipated, and probably makes the boat look really impressive when it's actually floating in the water. One thing that bothers me about this set is that the windscreen makes the cab seem awfully tall, but that could just be because as an American I'm more used to trucks like the Helicopter Transporter you show in a comparison shot, with engines mounted in front of the cab rather than underneath. Thanks so much for taking such great photos and writing this review!
