[Cor - FB4 March - Ship] Friends Forever, a captured ship

Recommended Posts

“My good men, I present to you, Friends Forever” Sir James.

Leuitenant Watton and the Ténotclaxcan, Akatu followed Sir James onto the main deck.

“Friends Forever? Wasn’t that the pirate ship that the Pandora captured last month during a trade run?”

“The very same”, replied Sir James, “I’ve had her refitted and she’ll be sailing under Corrington Colours this month. I’ve accepted a commission into the Royal fleet and I’ll be captaining her.”

“Well she seems to fit the bill, you’ve certainly given her some big guns, I hope they’ll serve you well against your attackers, the Sea rats are sure to want her back” Watton smirked, “Looks a bit cramped though, is there actually enough room for them all in there?”

“I am sure there is” Sir James snapped back, “right to business, you’ll be manning the fort while I’m gone and overseeing the construction our plantations with Akatu, and I need you to purchase me a suitable residence on the islands, I am expecting company.”

“Company?”

Yes my brother, Mr Greyshaw, married to my eldest sister Maria last spring will captain Jezebel. He will join us and he brings with him Mrs Greyshaw and my younger sister Miss Elena Chase also being joining the party.”

Sir James failed to notice the new shade of pink that Watton turned at the mention on Miss Chase and continued undeterred.

“With all this new activity going on I will need, some help to keep my personal affairs in order and Miss Chase will keep house for me.”

As a captured ship from last month's MRCA, Friends Forever belongs to the Royal Fleet of Corrington and is licensed as a 4A. And as this is my 4th freebuild of the month (and likely final) for Corrington Approvals are appreciated alongside C & C.

Very nice, those sails are great! The shaping is really good as well!

Nice seeing some bigger ships on here! I'm honestly surprised how well the tumblehome with the jumper plates looks, didn't expect it to look that good;)

The sails look great and the rigging, while simple, does its job. However, the part below the stern is a bit to sharp with the steps in it, having those bricks on hinges would improve the looks of the ship a bit. As well as that you seem to be forgetting the same thing I feel like forgetting most of the time too - an anchor or even two:P

And sorry for mainly mentioning the parts which I'm not as exited about - I'm just giving hints what could be improved on the next build or even on this one;)

I see you kept the name! That surprises me!

The hull curve is very nice, and I love the sails! I have been waiting to see that finished product since you teased us!

Very nice ship and awesome work with the sails here! pirate_satisfied.gif The color-scheme is great as well, and the gunports are excellent! I do agree that a couple more toward the front would help though pirate_wink.gif Great job overall! from the leadership!

Great work BrickOn! She's a lovely looking vessel. The white and black highlights work especially well with the red sails.

If you wanted to change the name to something slightly more... naval... may I suggest HMS Infinity? Kind of still references back to her original name!

Good to know we have an additional escort out there this month!

A well executed ship hull with great colouring (the white with black is amazing) and amazing sails.

Definitely: Eslandola approves

Good job!

Nicely proportioned ship, good choice of colors, the jumper plates based tumblehome works on this scale, sails are great... the name is not so, however pirate_laugh2.gif

The beakhead looks a bit too 'heavy', and it might use some headrails. Also, I suggest to add a spanker... the sail that is!

All in all a very good ship!

Great looking sloop-of-war, BrickOn - I really like the curves of the hull, and the integrated cabin is looking both great and realistic. I do agree that the concentration of the guns look a bit strange, but I think it is reasonable enough. I would probably put more space between the guns, which would also distribute them more evenly along the hull. I think the number of guns is very fitting for the class. (A sloop (rating, not rigging, mind you) would often carry around 12 guns, typically 4 pounders or 18 pounder carronades)

I agree that the beakhead looks abit overwhelming, but it does give the ship a sturdy look!

The rigging is very good too, but I would suggest adding a spanker sail to the mizzen, and perhaps another headsail (jib). As the foremost mast is (just) the tallest, she is actually a ketch, as a brig would have the aftmost mast as the tallest (main-)mast, but that is really a minor detail! :pir-laugh:

Great work on depicting on of the captured vessels, and congratulations to Sir James on his appointment! I hope his new duties will not keep him from further scientific pursuits! :pir-wink:

Thanks for the comments and approvals, it seems Friends Forever should undergo a change in her name after the MCRA since so many disapprove, if she survives the Searats, that is.

I knew I was skimping on the sails, but I was running out of time before a flight and the machine kept jamming up, so I abandoned more elaborate attempts, however I have plenty of material (its an old double bed sheet) so when I get back I'll add some more to the mix.

Sir James will be redoubly devoted to pursuit of science next month despite his new appointment. With his sister Miss Elena Chase at his side, he'll be out exploring the new world in his free time, and probably taking credit for her work when he is engaged with the Royal fleet.
