The Medieval Market Street is an impressive MOC but has nothing to do with an actual LEGO set. Not in style, not in presentation and most certainly not in number of bricks.
-
That doesn't explain all the white/yellow fort structures. But yeah, I am aware that ships came in all sorts of colours and sizes.
-
While I do have some issues with this new Pirates line (most notably the new bandana and the unoriginal and uninspired ship), the colour palette sure isn't one of them. I think the use of dark red, brown and grey really makes the sets look much more 'real' and mature than the sets of the first pirate line, which had plenty of yellow (an odd choice, really) and black (in places where brown had been more fitting) instead. This is actually the first theme where I've really wanted to buy all sets since Kingdoms. Is it perfect? No, far from. But it's still pretty damn solid, and well above most other current themes in quality.

Lego Mini Catalog 1996 / 1997 - A Nostalgia Trip
Hive replied to Vorkosigan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for sharing the catalogue, it's a nice find. There are, of course, a few nice sets here and there - but generally, I consider this a terrible time to be a LEGO collector. The sets and themes are generally (with a few exceptions, of course) of rather poor quality compared to the times that came before and after this period. And I'll claim that those of you who calls this a great period of LEGO only due so due to nostalgia, because you grew up with it. -
After initially being somewhat repulsed upon learning the true nature of this "Friends 2.0: Elves" theme, I'm beginning to warm up to some of the sets. I think I'll be getting at least the ship and the tree top set for sure, perhaps even a couple more of the sets - since my gf really digs the colours and brick assortment of this theme. The ship, I'll rebuild into something usable for Castle - and the tree top set, when modified, will function as my poor man's version of the Ewok Village.
-
Even if this is true, Castle is traditionally a summer release - meaning that we're looking at 1½ years untill these sets would be released. So a bit early to get super excited...

Fantastic news if true. And thank heavens that we'll be rid of the current theme soon as well. Two good news at once.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
Hive replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think most of those looks pretty great, and this might be the first series I'll want to get every figure from! Usually, I only get figures that work in a Castle or Pirates setting - but all these monsters, including several zombies... that's just too awesome to pass on. -
It's weird, I just checked the catalogue for Denmark covering Januar-June - and the Pirate sets were nowhere to be found there, either... what's up??
-
Wow, that bandana is even worse than I initially thought. I'd love to hear the story behind this new mold, because it makes absolutely zero sense to me.
-
Fun little find. I wouldn't see it as indication of what is to come either, but it's an amusing little homage to the very start of Castle.
-
Good review of an average set with good parts. For a polybag, it's certainly not bad. I wouldn't mind buying some of those if a similar set was to be released this year.

Incredibly stunning creation. Amazing work!

I actually think it's one of the best LOTR/Hobbit sets there is, when you judge them relative to size. It's the only one I haven't dismantled once since building it, and Gandalf looks great with yellow hands and head.
-
My favorite thems are Castle and Pirates and everything that can be fit into those two (such as LOTR, Hobbit and PoTC). However, I think the "best" theme is the bigger Creator sets such as the modulars. They're simply masterfully done, and if I could afford to do so, I'd collect them all.

Wow, fantastic moc! I absolutely love Optimus Prime.

The least LEGO-like line?

Clikits, Galidor and Bionicle. In my eyes, none of these are really LEGO. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Hive replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The problem with themes like The LEGO Movie, Simpsons and Ninjago is that they're not for everyone. Sure, the fans of those themes will love them - but many others won't touch them at all. Whereas the "regular" CMF series is usually so varied that there's pretty much always something for everyone's tastes. In most series, there's 3-5 figs that appeal to me - while in the TLM and Simpsons series, there were none. -
They still have Brickbeard's Bounty?? Get it, for sure! Don't hesitate! :o

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion

I really wish they would stop limiting usage of certain headgear by combining it with hair in a single mold. -
If so, I really hope it's an entirely new theme and not a continuation of 2013 Castle. "Kingdoms II" would be awesome...

Are all those dragons real LEGO? I don't recognize the black, grey/blue and yellow ones.

Boats! Boats! Boats!

I seem to recall that the review of the set here on Eurobricks stated that the figures were indeed made of the cheaper Chinese plastic. Sorry to dissapoint you.

Looks like a strong Series. I can't wait to see the king, goblin and evil wizard properly.
