Robin Hood is a folk legend, noone can copyright that.

Thanks for a good and detailed review. I especially liked the comparison pictures with older figures of the same kind. I think this set is pretty good for a set of this size, and it's a huge improvement to the smaller Cannon Battle from 2009.

Nicely done! Well-captured. I'd like to see more WWI dioramas. But I wouldn't exactly call it a "lesser known campaign", as I consider it to be the exact opposite: one of the campaigns most often mentioned from WWI...

Well they did make the new Pirates line modular as well, so I don't see why they wouldn't continue that newfound trend. Here's hoping that the "good guys" won't be red or blue with a lion shield...

At least it has parrots...

Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
Hive replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
Not a huge fan of that particular set. I think the quality of their sets really deteriorated near the end of the theme... but that aside, your collection is amazing! -
I really, really hope that's not the case... I mean, they can't give us two crappy Castle themes in a row... can they?
-
Thanks for sharing the instructions! I've often seen a set from a clone brand and thought "I don't want to buy a clone brand, but this is a nice model and I'd like to build it in real LEGO"... and now I can.

That chess set has too few figures and not enough variety between the figures it does have.
-
Castle themes are usually summer releases, though...
-
Yeah, that's my plan as well for the tree house. And I'll be modifying the boat to use with the Fantasy Castle knight faction.
-
Hmm I think I like the treasure island from the 2009 wave better overall. But the figures in this one are superior, with the female pirate being the star of the set.
-
I rather liked The Black Pearl. Is it perfect? No, of course not. But it has a nicely different look with some fresh colours and versatile sails. And the build really ain't that bad, in my opinion.

Should new castles have (raised) blaseplates?
Hive replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great usage! -
I agree, the 2009 was far superior. Though I will say that the figures in this one are better. While a bit underwhelming, I still look forward to getting this set. Thanks for the review!

I am very, very happy that you are not a theme designer for LEGO.

Should new castles have (raised) blaseplates?

Absolutely, yes! Raised baseplates gives the castles an impressive look and can add greatly to playability. It's the one piece I miss the most. -
Thanks!

Where exactly do you guys find them? I checked Pick A Brick on lego.com, but they weren't there...
-
Ahead of the lines, sure... but a whole year ahead??

I don't see it maky any kind of sense what so ever for TRU to get a LEGO cutout featuring 2016 LEGO sets in February 2015. That's just wishful thinking.

I assume they use gold instead of brown because it's more 'flashy' to look at. And kids usually loves flashy things. Why they use white instead of red however... that's hard to speculate at. I suppose they simply felt it looked better this time around.
-
I miss brown and red eupalettes.

I'm not really into oriental MOCs, but this is an impressive one for sure. Nice job!

I think it's a great moc, but I actually prefer the picture unedited. Probably as the only one.
