The new Pirates theme not released in all countries?
Hive replied to Hive's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I wish they'd at least give us information on the matter. Can't they do that much for their loyal fanbase? -

Bricklink. Expensive, but worth it. They're really something. And since I won't be able to get the entire ship, I decided to get at least the unique part: the sails. Besides, who knows when LEGO will ever do something like that again...? So did I! Perhaps the same shop? 'Magic Shop', I think it was called. -

I just bought the sails from 10210 Imperial Flagship. Looking forward to using them on my WIP Imperial ship. -
The Crusader shields were amazing. I'd love to see them re-issued.
-
Incredibly impressive. Wow!
-
Since you have that "Captain Pete" guy, how about including the new Junior Pirate Captain as well?
-
Great review, thanks! Your final thoughts echo my own feelings about the ship. It's not a bad ship, but a lot of us simply expected more than 'mediocre'. And why they couldn't have given us colors and sails that stuck out a bit more compared to the last ship is beyond my comprehension.

I tried contacting LEGO about the issue, but they just brushed me off with a non-answer. -
Are you sure about that? The catalogue I looked in here in Denmark did *not* have the sets at all. I tried contacting LEGO about the issue, but they just brushed me off with a non-answer.

Wow, that's an absolutely fantastic build. Wouldn't mind having that one at home!

Haha yes, well, perhaps I am "Mr. Negative" at times. For this particular set, I actually think the build itself is pretty good - but the colours are all wrong for me. And that's a problem I have with many older sets. I know they had a more limited colour palette to use back then, but I think it hurts the sets when compared to modern ones. The colours in this particular set makes it feel jumbled, confusing and not very organic. They remind me of when I was a kid and used not the *best* colours for a particular build I made, but the colours I simply had lying around. -
I must say that I'm surprised to see TBB lead so comfortably over BBB. I'll have to ask, since several people mention it: what's so improved about the rigging in TBB? To me, they look nearly identical.

I have absolutely zero interest in a new Vikings theme.

I always try to make my MOCs look like actual LEGO sets, for several reason - of which one is indeed that it suits my limited parts selection.
-
This. I bought all of the Castle 2013 sets as parts packs, as I only really wanted two minifigs: the King (since I lacked the King from Fantasy Castle, and this one was a fine substitute) and the evil wizard. The Dragon knights were mediocre and the Lion knights were outright terrible and were sent straight to my Bricklink store. But for the Kingdoms lineup, I liked both the sets and the minifigs. It is extremely rare that I ever buy a set solely for the minifigs (unless it's a CMF) and when it happens, it's only smaller sets.

I'm currently making a bluecoat ship out of the white Friends hulls myself right now. Though I don't have the luxuary of using the amazing Imperial Flagship sails, so I'm using the dark red ones from Queen Anne's Revenge instead. I'm personally being inspired by several official LEGO ships, looking at pictures and instructions.

With both of these ships so undeniably similar, which one is actually the better version? Brickbeard's Bounty OR The Brick Bounty

Can you combine B&P purchases with ordinary shopping on the site, to save on delivery costs?

Thanks for the thorough review. A lot of effort put into such a small set, kudos for that! And I must say, I'm impressed how good a condition your childhood set is in... mine are all yellowed with scratched and tooth marks on them...

Perhaps those themes would do a lot better if LEGO didn't treat them as a one-wave load of mediocre material and effort.

I apologize for the poor quality of the picture, but here it is - my special shark:
-
For a Juniors set, this one is awesome! Good, unique parts selection: a new shark, new map, uniquely printed white plate and hard-to-find black treasure chest - not to mention the unique figure as well. Fantastic! But seeing this review, I noticed something peculiar: the shark I received is different from the one on the box, which is also the one from the reviewer's set; the shark in my set has printed eyes. Weird.

Thankfully, at least the Juniors set can be found in Denmark - so I got that one today. And I must say, it's pretty darn good for a Juniors set. Good, unique parts selection: a new shark, new map, uniquely printed white plate and hard-to-find black treasure chest - not to mention the unique figure as well. Fantastic! I was surprised to see that the shark had significantly different eyes than those on the box, but I don't mind.
