My first ever LEGO purchase as an aspiring AFOL, which arrived today, is a lot of 3 sealed and never opened vintage sets: 6018 - Battle Dragon 6257 - Castaway's Raft 6260 - Shipwreck Island ...though I'm considering re-selling the two Pirate sets, as I mainly bought the lot for the Castle set (and already have 6257 from my childhood days). But a nice little nostalgic purchase overall, I always wanted some kind of Castle boat when I was a kid but never managed to get one.

Yeah, same thing sort of happened to me. I now look for LEGO on various auction sites every damn day.

Yeah I do have some Lego at my parents', and actually examined it today (for the first time in quite a lot of years). The thing just is that it's a mixed bag of different themes and with no really big pieces (the biggest being Lagoon Lock Up, which is neat but not all that impressive). And the themes I have most of are Space and City, which doesn't really interest me anymore... I did however seem to have a decent enough collection of minifigures from both Castle and Pirates, which is nice. Though I'm not quite sure I'd want to do both, I'm considering opting for Castle only... In fact, I made my first Lego purchase mere minutes away, winning an auction with 6018 Battle Dragon, 6257 Castaway's Raft and 6260 Shipwreck Island - all brand new in sealed boxes. Not a bad start, eh? ...but of course, I already have 6257 and mainly bought the whole thing in order to get 6018.

Has anyone tried some of their other sets? I must admit that the cheap price has made me consider buying their Blackbeard ship, as I think the design looks great for a Castle ship: ...but of course, if the bricks are too shoddy quality, even a cheap price won't make it a good deal. And the only two reviews of the ship I could fine were less than impressive...

Having registered here about 2 weeks ago, I just now realised that it is apparantly customary to introduce oneself... so here goes: Hi all! I'm a 28-year old Danish guy who a couple of weeks ago, just before my 28th birthday, out of the blue got a craving to build LEGO again... probably because my mind refuses to accept getting older. I'm mainly interested in Castle, being very impressed by the recent sets with skeletons and orcs and dragons and what not - but Pirates is a classic as well, even though the last line seems to be somewhat of a light version of the sets from my childhood. Right when I got my craving for LEGO back, I tried to satisfy my thirst with LEGO Digital Designer - but the lack of interesting Castle pieces made it extremely insufficient, and I am now contemplating whether I should invest in some actual LEGO or just try to suffocate the urge...

This is probably the most impressive piece of LEGO I have ever seen. Amazing.

Am I the only one suspecting that we will indeed see a PoTC licensed theme once the forth movie arrives? LEGO seems to have gone into business with Disney and Bruckheimer with Prince of Persia, and I find it plausible that they would extend this partnership to what can only be a more profitable and lucrative license than PoP...

This is definately the best pirate set I have ever seen. I got a craving for this set a few days ago, remembering it from my childhood, and this fine review only made me crave it more.

I'm sad to hear this. I personally cannot see any harm done by this modification, and consider it more of a mod (which are normal and accepted for most software applications) than a hack. But it is, of course, your own choice.

Cool, thanks. I'll try to find some places to post without it being too spam-like. :) So there's not actually any new parts, they just come in new colours? Oh well... that's good enough for me. :)

This sounds very interesting, as LDD has a dissapointingly scarce selection of bricks to choose from. Does this hack make any Castle-themed bricks/colours available? And is there any way someone who has it would be kind enough to share it with me? :)
