Thanks, I was going for that old-school vibe. When I first conceived this MOC I had only recently experienced the pure joy that is In-N-Out Burger on a family trip to California. And now I am hungry just thiking about it. Thanks.

Gorgeous! I love the shop front windows and the old-fashioned radio on the second floor (first floor if you are European ).

Thanks everyone. I really enjoyed that brickwork. My builds may not be spectacular - size or innovation-wise especially from the outside - but what I enjoy doing most is the detailing and making interiors. As my wife said the other day, if LEGO had not been invented I would probably be building really detailed dollhouses. ;)

Thanks all! It seemed a natural when I was looking for an existing printed element to use and realized I had several of the sail boat torsos:

Since I finally got around to finishing this I thought I would share. The build was actually done two years ago but I never got around to doing the custom pub sign. I finally used my water-slide decal kit in my printer and I think it turned out great. (same excuse for my Beachburger restaurant).

After finally trying out my water-slide decal kit (see also: Green Dragon) I thought I would share my franchise burger place: As usual, apologies for crappy pictures.

Good question. I think we all got distracted when the new line of Pirate sets started leaking and kinda let this project slip a little. :)

Proposal to girlfriend using this Lego Cow in Legoland DM
tedbeard replied to Fuppylodders's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Brilliant! Congratulations. -
^ I would have done a CMF series (or maybe two) for the World Cup. They could do a UEFA Champions League series and/or one for EURO 2016. Printed torsos of famous football clubs and national teams would sell like hotcakes.

I am still working on my Beach Burger franchise. Someday I will figure out how to print onto the water-slide decal paper I bought to make the sign...

It should be noted that the machine does not "waste" the plastic. What you see can be ground-up, melted down and injected into a new mold.

Modifying Lego: Acceptable or Heresy
tedbeard replied to eurotrash's topic in General LEGO Discussion
LOL I might do it with that piece in particular since I have dozens of them and no need for that many but generally I avoid cutting. -
Sorry, I was being a smart-megablocks and wondering how this model can be described as "1:1 scale" when it is clearly not hundreds of meters long and capable of carrying real human-sized passengers and crew. One would assume it is in the "sci-fi" section as it is a spaceship.

Thanks for sharing the ending. He sure looks happy and looks to be well on his way to good financial management.

I think someone does not understand what "1:1 scale" means. Nice looking ship though.

New Theme Being Announced at New York Comic Con 2014
tedbeard replied to Pheonix1604's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think Dr Who would do well in Canada and the US. The show is gaining visibility and popularity in the states by leaps and bounds. It is certainly going to be well-known at any Comic-Con event. That said, I am sure it is Bionicle. -

Welcome neighbour! Let us know when you are coming to Victoria and maybe we can get together a couple of VicLUGgers. -
Love it by Toutatis ... but where is his moustache?

Are you a collector, MODer, or MOCer?
tedbeard replied to Paul B Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah, I prefer the term "stock" as in "stock model". As well there are people who are collectors who don't actually build anything so the term is quite confusing in this context. My numbers: Stock: 5% MOD: 75% MOC: 20% Of course that may be where I am now but is not "who I am" since I hope to move to much more pure "MOCing" in the future. -
Thanks, I was very pleased with that one. Thanks, and no the dark red was not intentional originally but I did not have the rounded slope peice in red so I used a dark red one as a patsy. Once it was done I thought it looked kinda "rusty" and aged so I added the dark red 1x1 round to make a rusted corner. MOC/MOD: I could have described it better (as was done on the Flickr page). I may try to tweak the Rover at some point and it is technically a MOD as well I suppose as the undercarriage is the same as the SUV. I did have fun on the trucks and it was nice to see that my careful hoarding of dark green paid off. Thanks, I will add a picture when I get them loaded.

Welcome to EB neighbour - if BC is next door. If you are building GBCs you might wanna check out (and maybe even contribute to) the new Great ball contraption section of BW.

My first reactions: the ship looks nice and soldiers look like they will be some form of bluecoats. The crappy "buildings" means the designs in the Ambassador Project thread will look amazing compared to these. ;)
