  1. Oh c'mon, the obvious answer is Captain Blood with Errol Flynn. From the duel on the rocks to the ships to the prison and plantation there are a ton of great potential sets.
  2. Just watched the video, thanks for that. It really shows off the details. What an awesome candidate for Cuusoo Ideas! It is a great size with lots of playability and geek nostalgia. Too bad Star Trek is on the banned list.
  3. Wow, such a great look and in such a compact size! Well done.
  4. I like to make fellow LUG members into figs and place them in humourous vignettes when we do displays. I also add myself and family members just for fun.
  5. Actually I read somewhere that baseplates are not made by traditional molding machines but are vacuum-formed. In any case one would assume that all molds need to be replaced eventually so they may not have paid off those molding machines.
  6. Don't kid yourself, we will get shafted soon enough.
  7. Sweet, thanks! Gonna have to build one. :)
  8. Fantastic. Great detail at that scale especially the angled back w/spare tire. Any chance of a pic of the underside? I am curious what connection you used to mount the sidecar to the motorcycle.
  9. The wheelbarrow display and the ladder are great but my favourite still has to be the stack of toilet seats on the shelf inside.
  10. Victoria, proud member of VicLUG.
  11. I have used Brasso on torsos with great success and would like to try this as well to get rid of the dotted lines along the side of the street. I build sidewalks using two layers of plates which means I don't really need the lines.
  12. Welcome aboard from the Left Coast.
  13. Anyone know if the LEGO stores in Canada will have good "Brick Friday" deals? I will be in Vancouver next week at a conference!
  14. Welcome neighbour! How's the weather "back east" - everywhere else is "east" of Victoria.
  15. Hey people are nice and even if there is a small crowd everyone helps other finding specific characters. There is just such a demand that it seems to fly off the shelves. I was in Walmart when the new series was first released and they had like ten open boxes on the end cap. Went back a few days later and not one single box or fig left. :( I think Victoria retailers simply cannot or will not get enough stock to meet demand. And then I see notices on FB (or somewhere) saying that they are on clearance in some Target stores in the US for $1.25 each!!!!
  16. There are too many AFOLs, TFOLs and eBay professionals in Victoria. Every store (Target, Wally World, TRU) get cleaned out of LEGO anything on a regular basis. If you want a collectible minifig in this town you have to be down there the day there are put on the shelves.
  17. Sometimes they have gone longer. All-volunteer and usually worth the wait.
  18. Sounds like you had fun. I enjoyed your article as it brought back memories of past years. Although I missed this year I am looking forward to next year.
  19. Welcome aboard! Hope to see you next year at BrickCon or maybe sooner if you are ever in Victoria. I am with VicLUG and we do some public displays around the BC Family Day holiday (in Sidney) and the school break in March @Tillicum Mall. On your side of the Salish Sea you have a choice of hanging with AbbyLUG or VLC, or both!
  20. Welcome aboard fellow Canuck! I'm on the left coast (Victoria), whereabouts are you located?
  21. Thanks, I was really pleased with the decals. I have done desktop publishing for a long time but for some reason the decals made me nervous. The kitchen turned out really well and one detail you really cannot see from my crappy photos is that there is a "walk-in" fridge near the back door filled with product. That and the toilet are pretty hard to get good photos of.
  22. ^ Thanks! I did use a lot of 90's torsos and printed elements didn't I? :)
  23. Thanks for the nice comments. I want to make a second location that has a drive-thru some day.
  24. Hey me too! Welcome aboard fellow Ted.
  25. ^ Might be the place for a custom sticker or, dare I suggest it, a 1x1 round tile glued?
