Not so much anymore if they simply make is an obviously "photo safari" with the minfigs equipped with a selection of still and video cameras.

^ that s why Target failed. They never stocked or sold LEGO the way they do in the states. Well, it is one of the reasons I almost never shopped there.

Welcome aboard from the Left Coast!

The easiest and fastest thing would be a table cloth in green which my club uses on our plastic tables when doing displays. Otherwise you do need to paint the surface or you will start to gets splinters (and it looks awful).

I have little use for curves but I LOVE the four-way intersections. I use two-plate sidewalks so the intersections can be anything: 4-way, T-junction or straight (with or without a parking spot/bus stop).

Fantastic detail and still in scale. Gonna have to bookmark this for inspiration when I build a rock concert. :)

Thanks 3BrickFriends. Kind of a cliche isn't it? And the real place I based it on does have a martial arts studio above. Wasn't even my idea!

Benefits from building at a standing table?
tedbeard replied to Orange Leader's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh good lord that was a bad idea!!! The suggestion was a kitchen COUNTER. Tables are designed to be used while seated countertoips are designed to be used while standing. The height difference is not huge but it does make a big difference to your body. Sorry, I have done too many ergonomics sessions through my work on the building health and safety committee. -
Thanks all. I do have a problem when displaying my MOCs at public events: I love doing interiors. Unless I stand there lifting the sections out for people to see (a reason I love the modular style) people only see half the MOC. Edit: and yes, I have a weakness for bad puns.

Sosumi Japanese Restaurant is based on an actual building in my home town. The restaurant fills the first (ground) floor and a martial arts studio (no name yet, just "the dojo") occupies the space above. Notes: The custom engraved bricks are from Tommy and there is some BrickForge glassware and cleaver, but otherwise everything is pure LEGO (I think), even the stickers used on the doors. The two parking stalls are designed to be accessed by using a T-junction baseplate creating a larger "interior" corner layout. To be accurate to the real-life inspiration I will eventually have to build a submarine sandwich shop to fill in the other side of the corner. I use a modified MHS that uses studded sidewalks, two plates thick. When placed beside regular MHS buildings I use 10"x10" foamcore boards to raise the height to match my sidewalks. TUTORIAL: Remove print from decorated elements
tedbeard replied to Hinckley's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
You did not rub hard enough, long enough. A light application for a short time produces no noticeable result but if you go nuts for way longer than you think reasonable suddenly you will find the image disappearing. You also have to be pretty generous with the Brasso and I end up using at least two "dabs" of Brasso per torso. -
I spent many hours detaching and reattching the passenger module on the one I had. Proably the one toy from my childhood that really regret losing.

Yeah, my first thought was "yay, sales!" and then i realized they hardly have any LEGO on the shelves anyway. Before they opened I was thinking they would become my main source of common LEGO sets. The reality of their pathetic operation was that I never once bought ANY from them.

^ That is why I passed. Still hoping for some straight track though.

That was how it got explained to us. Your mileage may differ (YMMD). ;) Since we are apparently allowed to talk about parts... did you notice that the train switches/points are available this round but they are not selling the part that makes it work? There has been lots of silly over the history of this program.
-
What I meant by "specifics" was element availability including pricing. Our understanding was we are not to speak in public about what parts are available and what the price is for those parts.
-
Part of the terms of LUGBulk is you cannot discuss specifics in public forums. Please contact your coordinator who has access to the available parts list. Our LUG has been whittling down our "wish list" to an "order sheet" for weeks.

There are some links from the Orange County LEGO Users Group page on BrickWiki.

No, you banished it. As in relegated to another forum. Very different meaning than "delete". I think that both objectively and subjectively you are incorrect in your assertions above. Oyo, from what I can see, is a family start-up created when a child and his father found LEGO did not provide certain things. That is precisely the story of Brickarms. Brickarms no longer sells directly to the consumer but is a manufacturere and distributor. When do they go from being a, "family-oriented, personal entrepreneurship" to being an (evil) corporation? They do not compete with LEGO in the same way as Mega Bloks etc as they produce items that LEGO does not produce. How is that different than Brickforge? Brickforge competes directly with LEGO with many items common to those two companies. Oyo is not imitating, 'the entire brick system" but does provide enough parts to construct basic sets for their unique niche. How is this different than ME Models rail system which uses 2x8 plates which are direct facsimilies of existing LEGO parts. Will models featuring ME Models track be vetted to ensure that the plates are replaced with genuine LEGO elements? I am in no way arguing to allow carte blanche for non-LEGO products but revisiting the guideline seems like something useful every once in a while and in this case, the line may have been drawn too far in one direction. As the poster pointed out, they used LEGO where possible and used the alternates where required. The decision to move it out of the original forum seems harsh.
-
So, any use of non-LEGO elements in a build gets a model banished or is it some quantity? Just trying to clarify the threshold in a community that uses lots of elements from both aftermarket accessory producers like Brickarms and Brickforge as well as competing brands like MegaBloks.
-
ME Models has their track on eBay already? NOT COOL.

Came home form work yesterday and found my two bags of R56 plastic curves on my kitchen table. They are lovely and make a circle so large it overhangs the table! -
It is also the time around my neck of the woods for stores to offer sales on storage containers of all sizes. I scored some nice plastic bins w/lids in bundles of 10 for $9.99 per bundle. (For those in Canada: Link to Canadian Tire sale price)

No matter how you slice it one-percenters score while fans are dissapointed.

So the whole scheme was to acquire the rights to Modulex, "threaten" to produce some, and then sell the rights to LEGO Juris in order to make a tidy profit without havihg to actually produce anything? So nice for the 1% not to have to actually work.
