  1. Two excellent candidates for LEGO Ideas!
  2. A good summary of what fans have been working on is available from 2012:
  3. I discovered pretty quickly that if you want to add details beyond a few minifigs walking on the sidewalks you really need the extra space. I use 6-wide sidewalks on the roadplates and that allows for a lot of building opportunities. I did recently get a few extra crossroad plates which I am going to modify by removing the printing and will use them to create parking spaces.
  4. If you are talking about OLD road plates then I agree. They are suitable only for 4-wide vehicles. However the modern road plates feature a much wider road surface and go with the modular buildings very nicely IMO. I find the road plates more economical in both cost and storage space.
  5. If this was really DisneyBricks the instructions would have to include sending a notarized copy of your transfer of all rights to the images to WDC. ;)
  6. Up the Arsenal! And welcome to the forums from another Gooner on the Left Coast.
  7. Howdy neighbour! Have you hooked up with VLC or AbbyLUG yet?
  8. Wow, that is quite an impressive catalogue. All very nice but I have to say my favorite is the sIG 33 150mm. I have a soft spot for cannons/guns and this is really good.
  9. What a great concept. My club has been talking about making facades to fill odd spaces at the back of displays and this idea might come in handy.
  10. The only thing I can add is find a LEGO Users Group (LUG) and join up. LUG members are a great source for finding local deals or pooling efforts to save shipping etc.
  11. This is wonderful. I am especially enamoured with the helicopter and the still. I don't think LEGO would approve the "set" as is due to to the alcohol but I think the jeep and helicopter combo would make a fantastic submission for LEGO Ideas. I remember buying dinky-toy versions of those two vehicles (possibly as a set) when I was a kid and recreating the chooper landing scene from the opening credits would be really a powerful image, full of nostalgia for the potential buyers of this as a set.
  12. I see no ethical objection to selling either the bricks or the instructions so long as you make no claim in regards the authorship of the instructions. Why is this any diferent than buying a LEGO set and selling it on?
  13. I have used that kind of tray and parts go throught the handles far too easily to make it worthwhile. Work at a table and toss parts into cups or other small containers for quick sorting. You then can dump parts into large bins or bags as needed.
  14. Nope, too big. What would look nice is a gazebo in the middle with a band or maybe someone giving a speech.
  15. Say it isn't so! Once you go to the dark side an use Kragle where will the madness end?
  16. LOL, that's one I haven't heard! Currently dry and sunny over here in paradise.
  17. My favorite so far! Can I play too? Little Building Tile-over-Plate
  18. Welcome neighbour! On the island? Sunshine Coast?
  19. My personal LEGO town is called Stackton. My club, VicLUG, calls our collaborative town builds: Bricktoria. I have also tried to compile a gazetteer of such names in BrickWiki but as is common, I have not been able to keep up. Maybe I can use this thread to help bring it more up to date.
  20. Get to know your neighbours and share the "security" duty. NO display should ever be unattended but you should not have to be the one there at all times.
  21. I have displayed at 7 major conventions and dozens of local public displays. Only once has anything been stolen and that was at the end of a convention as the public hours ended and I was packing up. Could have been an attendee but there were still plenty of members of the public who were slow to leave. If I (and everyone else) had not been so distracted and I had not left a convenient baggie of newly acquired figs on the table, it probably would not have happened.
  22. The hillsides look fantastic. and well done to make them work so well as both separate units and as a unified whole. The mix of snow/ice and rock is really well done. The only thing I find jarring are the patches of snow/rock on the ground below. To my eye there seems to be way too much black in them but maybe it looks much better in person and with figures etc on top.
  23. ^ Yeah, it took me a while to figure it out as well. I finally noticed some discussions about US-based events and stores and looked at the "Country" tag for the people posting about it.
  24. Because Castle has it's very own dedicated site: Classic-Castle.com which serves the needs of castle fans very well. On EB the Historical section (and its sub-sections) do a great job of serving the needs of fans here.
