Really wonderful scene and the building is delightful but for some reason the canal boat is what catches my eye. It may have more to do with having wanted to travel on one for years but I quite like it.

Welcome aboard. Have you hooked up with VLC yet? They do some fun displays.

That is a good question. While I am not a full on "communitarian", the essence of AFOL events and LUGs has always seemed to me to be inclusiveness. We have one local annual "event" where it stopped being an all-inclusive display to an invitation-only display. It is for a small local history museum who now want "themed" creations so not our call. That said I still feel dirty if I participate, and excluded if I am not "invited". Whatever is going on down your way, I hope you can connect with other AFOLs somehow. It is worth it to share coffee or beer with someone who "gets" our brand of geekdom.

Our LUG requires three things: 1) you must be a fan of LEGO; 2) you must be 18 or older; and, 3) you must live in the general area or come to our events on a regular basis. Not to make excuses or claim any sort of actual knowledge but perhaps you need to try and contact GFLUG a different way? Sometimes email addresses are abandoned or "contact" people move without changing the club contact info. The best way is to simply show up at something they are doing, admire their display and ask a real live person about joining.

Welcome from Canada - the Left Coast specifically, where the sun has been blood red for days thanks to raging forest fires.

Building an (American) Civil War Army...help? Tips?

Have you seen the new printed torsos from Citizen Brick: Confederate Cavalry Torso, Confederate Infantry Torso, Confederate Artillery Torso and the Confederate Kepi? -
Selling non-LEGO parts is not covered by the trademark (not patent) case. Re-selling minifigures themselves is generally allowed under fair-use provisions of applicable laws. What this covers is using the minifigure in producing original works not authorized by LEGO such as: t-shirts with depictions of minifigures third-party manufactured figures that look like LEGO minifigures selling a minifigure costume or sculpture

Really nice. Needs a video in the style of the designer videos. :)

Welcome aboard. I share your love of the Modular Houses Standard. Looking forward to seeing yours. I just built a small one recently but have not taken decent photos yet.- 15 replies

^ Oh yes please. I would love to see Tony's presentation but Chicago is not possible for me.

I guess you never heard of this little project called Ideas where people can suggest sets based on their own imaginations or on licensed works like TV shows or movies. That is where this set came from. Not from LEGO "doing" sitcoms.

BrickWarriors May 2015 - Knight Helmets and Armor
tedbeard replied to Thrash's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
That bascinet is brilliant. I have one or two of the old version done by ... name escapes me at the moment... but this one is so much more detailed. edit: I think it was Little Armoury. -
I have been to several BrickCons (coming from Victoria) and have met lots of Vancouver-area AFOLs down there. The organizers have, I have been told, been working very closely with Wayne and the BrickCon team who very much support this event. I do not know the whole list but I do know a few of the people involved including Robin (LCP), Mary (longtime uber-volunteer for BrickCon) and John (long-time ambassador). They regularly come over to Victoria and have been keeping VicLUG in the loop.

[Not LEGO] Lafayette's Hermione reconstruction project

Great video. Thanks for sharing! -
That sure is an eye-catcher! It looks fantastic and dense but I bet it does not transport well. The [whatever the bud-things are called] are just sitting on the flower stems not actually attached right? Still, I want one!

That is sort of my plan. I want to make an urban Kwik-E-Mart as the bottom floor of a modified modular-style multi-story building. Possibly offices or apartments on top.

Western Canada is finally getting a brick convention: BrickCan in Richmond, BC, April 21 - 24, 2016. Richmond is a suburb of beautiful Vancouver and the site is the River Rock Resort (casino and entertainment complex) located 7 minutes from YVR international airport.

So, Western Canada is finally getting a brick convention: BrickCan in Richmond, BC, April 21 - 24, 2016. Is this the first brick convention being held at a casino? ;)

The "California" high speed rail is planned to extend right up through Portland, Seattle and Vancouver BC. There is talk of a Calgary-Edmonton line and a Toronto - Montreal line FWIW. Not that this has anything to do with LEGO train sets being introduced in 2015...

tower bridge set for a medieval setting - compatible?
tedbeard replied to Endriu's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You can never have too many parts. :) I think the selection of parts in that set will be mostly useful for medieval settings - but I really love tan so you will have to visualize what colours you want. -
Might not be a good idea to ask him publicly to break the law by reproducing LEGO intellectual property that could be used to sell create counterfeit minifigs. ;)
