Welcome aboard, JoeChu1980.

You could scroll down to the bottom and there is a drop down for "Theme" and select "Pirates 2017" if you want something different than "busy" bunnies and bees. There are even a couple test themes.

It's spring. Bunnies and bees are "busy". -
It appears you get enough tracks to make circle with that Heartlake City Resort set people mover.

Yes. I have to talk LEGO outside of EB. I am part of a LUG and we get invited to events. It doesn't bother me to answer the same LEGO questions over and over again at various events. It probably doesn't help secrecy since I got printed in the local newspaper.

There is no change at the moment to the fllckr domain and links. I think Smugmug plan to keep two companies as separate entities. But they are planning to move the images from Yahoo server infrastructure to Smugmug's in the future. They just have to update the DNS records and nothing should be broken. It is not quite the same as Photobucket going paid for deep linking. Any way, there is always some risk hosting your data in the "cloud".

Neat. Nice mods and additions to playability. -
Nice looking train. Lord Business would be pleased. Location of battery box and/or ballast may help.

You should be a man of great patience before committing to flexible coaster tracks. It's a great kit if you can put in the time and effort required to make it work. Like Great Ball Contraptions, you may spend way more time tweaking and debugging than building. It can be maddening but fun and rewarding for the right type of person. It is a Technic axle drive connection for the M-motor on those rides to motorize them. I am not sure there is enough space connect a NXT servo motor against it but it is not hard to make a drive shaft system going from the NXT motor to that connection point. You can make some buildings or truck trailers to hide the NXT motors if you don't want to see them. The NXT would you more flexibility in control and animating your rides. You can program it so the rides only runs if the ultrasonic sensor senses someone nearby and stuff like that.

I bought the Rollercoaster Factory kit at Brickworld 2013. It is has flexible tracks so you can make it loop and bank. But it takes a lot of patience and tweaking to get it to work right. I would adjust one part and it would mess up another section. I gave up on it after a while. LEGO could probaby implement those features of rolls and stuff but it may create many help desk calls from the segment of the consumers who can't get it to work. They may have to price the set even higher to cover the tech support costs.

It's all downhill from here, eh? Day 137 of 365: Roller Coaster by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Maybe we can MOC an artic coaster.

The challenge with plastic injecting ABS into a 32x32 size plate would be the part cooling unevenly and warping. You can see that too if you 3D print large parts in ABS.

I've seen tires on steel rollercoasters before. They are used to control the speed of the train through stations, braking, or to give that extra push. Coasterpedia calls them friction wheels.

In the coaster video it looks like they just connect the M-motor directly to the AAA battery box. There is no speed adjustment. You should be able to substitute the bigger AA battery box for the AAA one. You can also use an IR receiver and IR speed remote to control the speed. The IR receiver connect between the battery box and motor.

The AA battery box should work just fine. In the video they show the standard AAA battery box that doesn't have the speed control. Both boxes output the same voltage to the m-motor. AA batteries will run much longer than the AAA batteries. I mix battery boxes all the time for my MOCs.

I believe each country get set their own pricing based on local conditions. It is not a straight exchange rate conversion. There are other factors to consider that go into a pricing model spreadsheet. We'll see on the 26th.

So many ideas and so little time. Isn't that how it works? The graphite powder works great for Kadee HO couplers inside the small space of the coupler box. The LEGO switch track internal mechanism might have a bigger area to cover with graphite. Definitely some testing would be useful.

The pirate coaster is pretty interesting. They are sure making use of those coaster tracks in any and every set they can.

Blame it on American guy, Don Maclean who drove his Chevy to the levy. Yeah, back then we had to go outside and play in the dirt, unless one of us had LEGOs and it was raining or snowing.
