  1. ^Replacing the red cyclinder with a model rocket engine could make it fly too.
  2. Great job. What's the advantage of 3 axles over 2 axles for pick and carry? It seems like 2 would be more manouverable?
  3. Welcome back to the dark side, Glassjaw.
  4. If LEGO publishes the protocol like they did with the IR protocol, then it wouldn't be hard to hack your own controller. It wouldn't be hard to make a BT jammer either and have some fun with your LUG members who use BT to control their MOCs.
  5. My cat used an opened tub of bricks as a liter box too. I washed them a few times but I am still finding bits of dried urine deep inside some bricks years later. Always keep the lids on and be wary of buying used LEGO.
  6. The simplest for backward compatibility is a BT receiver using the same cables and connectors as the IR receiver. Then you can just pull out the IR receiver and plug in a new BT receiver in your old PF trains and you're done.
  7. Good birthday idea/wish. For TC-13, you could brick build the 2x4 out of regular LEGO pieces but it'll be heavier than the lunch box.
  8. Very nice shots and clean--the way LEGO should be.
  9. Welcome aboard, lapsanszkitamas.
  10. It could also be that the current generation of LEGO bricks are lighter than the older bricks. Lighter weight means it would be easier to carry boxes of trains from my car to the display area, less wear and tear on the old guy body.
  11. You can get a DIY 3D printer kit from China very inexpensively. But it requires effort to build it, tweak it, and learn to use it. It is a lot of fun if you're so inclined for DIY. Another option might be to epoxy the Technic axle into the wheel.
  12. I would love to see a small shunter engine in the styles of the ones back in the 1980s. I don't think it is building skills or ideas stopping LEGO, rather getting them pass management via the business case. To get approval to production and make it to the store shelves, it has to bring X in revenue and/or Y in profit and/or Z in volume, etc. I don't know if kids get to see shunting action these days or even interested. When I was small I used to live near a terminus train station. I could watch trains coming/going/staging all day long from my apartment window. It was awesome. One of my friends had a house right next to the Conrail freight yard. We do have some double cabs in North America like the GE E60, AEM-7, ACS-64.
  13. Very nice design with functional play bits. Since the distance to the couplers are different, would there be different forces acting on the front wheel versus the rear wheels in a curve?
  14. I think you're basically paying for the nostalgic artwork on the box and not so much for the generic parts inside.
  15. Good stuff. Love seeing DIY tooling.
  16. Nice layout and collection. I still have my 7710 Push Train and original box from the 1980s. My layout was a circle of track in a bachelor sized apartment, just enough room to place a fire station set and a house MOC in the middle of the circle.
  17. There is probably a business reason that we are not privy to. I suspect that outside of North America, double cabs engines seems to be a popular option for railroads and that's what kids in those countries see.
  18. Colossal. It was strange.
  19. Finally got to order the VW Beetle to get the 60 years anniversary set too.
  20. There is the very expensive LEGO solution with the EV3, servo motor and sensors: The GBC Saver Button by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  21. Welcome SillyOldFart. How about a motorized LEGO Technic back scratcher? I have trouble reaching that far back.
  22. LEGO PF train motors.
  23. Welcome to Eurobricks.
  24. Welcome aboard, Remi. Nice to see VHS is still around.
