Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II
dr_spock replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome aboard, Captain Obadiah Shaw (@Pdaitabird) -
Nice busy scene. Is it the guy about to get a broom to head?
-
The sides of the bricks are under strain from the studs they are connected too. That strain can deform the brick over time thus a lost of clutch power without visible sign of a fracture failure. Being 1x1, there isn't as much material to resist the forces of the hunky stud.

Poll in blogs can be an easy quick way to collect your reader's reaction to your specific blog post without them having to leave a comment and then you having to read through the comments and collect stats by interpreting their comments. As with any stats, take it with a grain (or a lump) of salt.

José's Inn - Ye Olde BoBS Drinking Hole
dr_spock replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hopefully the set will be around for a while. I won't be able to buy it right a way. Mine gave me a Honey-To-Do list. So far I finished painting the second floor. -
THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!

If it was already planned, TLG could have rejected it in the review phrase. Now they have give something like 1% of the set's sales to the Ideas submitter. -

Pay cash. Hide it in a Eurobrick's Brethren of the Brick Seas (BOBS) build like a hidden hideout build. Convince her you missed building for the Sea Rats. -

Love all the pirating from the old pirate sets style cues. Definitely hitting all the nostalgia buttons. I think it is one of the nicer and clever Ideas sets. Blimey, shop.lego.com Double VIP points ends on March 29th. -

As long as they don't discontinue them, then all is good. -

COVID-19 and will it impact Lego's profits?
dr_spock replied to AMD's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My garden is located at a community garden. Our town set aside some land for one. I applied and got a small plot. I enjoy the challenge of growing pesticide free food. Your town/city may offer something similar. -
She's destashing her fabrics. I hope she doesn't expect me to do the same with my LEGO. I try to use the car budget by doing some maintenance/repairs myself. I charge the dealer's shop labor rates.

COVID-19 and will it impact Lego's profits?
dr_spock replied to AMD's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm building and sorting LEGO. I'm also planning my plot at the community garden. I saw something about TP seeds on the Internet. Going to give that a try. -
I am the opposite. I am not very good at digital LEGO building. I can take a look at your digital file.

Anyone know of an alternate for train wheel metal axle?
dr_spock replied to LegoDW's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I made my own out of K&S stock #505 piano wire. It's less than $1 for 3 feet of wire and it makes 23 axles. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/157497-train-axle-making-jig/ -
Good one. I can barely see the skull in the background. Can't have a virus alert without Weird Al's song of the same title. https://youtu.be/zvfD5rnkTws

You have enough when your wife or significant other says you have enough.

Depends on the precision and speed you need. It seems reliable enough for my slot machine with guests playing with it at a casino night event. The color dots on the wheels never got out of alignment or sync. My slots program is not particularly taxing the EV3 processor. If you want to play it safe and avoid potential liabilities for injury, then limit switches wouldn't hurt to have. They would be useful for homing and zeroing the positions too. I had to manually turn the slot wheels to three matching colours (position 0) before starting the program.

Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?
dr_spock replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
To do a proper pitch, you should replace the people with minifigures in that poster.
