LegoTrain Set Through 12 inches of Canadian Snow
dr_spock replied to TinyTrainTrack's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Non, I used to when I was a student. The style of backyard fence, telephone poles and amount of snow in your video looked familiar. You're getting some good mileage out of your train set. It's fun out there in the snow. Motorized Turbo Tank by dr_spock_888, on Flickr -
Power Functions 2.0, how to have multiple motors on a single train?
dr_spock replied to LegoDW's topic in LEGO Train Tech
With PUP App version 3.0, you can control up to 4 battery boxes at a time. Here is an example of two trains controled by one app. -
Is LEGO making way too many vehicles?

There is the LEGO® Friends theme. It is not overly heavy on vehicles for those wanting less tires and more structures. -

I guess features will be added as things progress with the PU app. But it is good they allow you program your own in the meantime rather than have to wait for them to get around to it. You can use other types of inputs too. I picked the tilt input so that I don't have to look at the screen while I control my train. -

Go back 40-50 years. LEGO® had many vehicles. Even the basic brick sets came with some wheels back then. Come to think of it, LEGO® is the number one tire manufacturer in the world. All those tires gotta go somewhere. -

You can create a double motor control with the Powered UP app if so inclined. The speed is controlled by tilting your phone or tablet. It provides -100 to 100 based on your phone's/tablet's incline. Stop can be obtained by pressing the stop program button on the upper right part of the screen. (Not shown here.) -
2020 Trains sets - Rumours and discussion
dr_spock replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Train Tech
A couple of years ago, LEGO® released a Friends set calling the "people mover" on coaster tracks a monorail in the product description on S@H: The LEGO® Friends 41347 Heartlake City Resort is the place to hang out and have fun in Heartlake City! The hotel has a lobby, restaurant, juice bar, terrace with a DJ stand and 2 bedrooms. Drive the monorail round to the water park with changing room, 2 waterslides and a splash bucket, plus a beach area with a water scooter, parasailer and a lifeguard stand. This amazing LEGO Friends set includes 4 mini-doll figures plus a dolphin figure. 41347-53 by DrSpockFriends, on Flickr -
Thanks. The cars use the standard LEGO magnet couplers. The couplers are located at the center of rotation so they pivot around each other, one advantage of LEGO using magnets for couplers. You don't have to make rotating coupler boxes. I have lots of PF too. Our LUG train guys are going PU in a big way.

Playing around with the Powered UP app, multiple hubs, motors, and color sensor. Trying out stuff I may or may not use for our upcoming train shows. Using color sensor to detect color while moving and perform an action based on the color. The faster you go, the longer the color strip is needed to be detected by the app. Using the color sensor to detect distance while moving to avoid a collision. You can't go too fast, have to allow adequate time for distance detection. It is also sensitive to the color of the train in front. It likes to crash into black since it is not too reflective. Using color sensor to spot cars at the exact spot to take a dump. Have to go slowly like in real life. Every now and then it misses the mark. Gonna have to send the operator to alcohol/drug testing.

Isn't it somewhere in the LEGO Ideas T&Cs that they reserve the rights to modify the model as needed after it has been review selected to go into production? What you see may not be what you get.

Brethren of the Brick Seas Banner by Kai NRG

Yay, Geneva. Fantastic! -
Great job squeezing everything in, good looking sideframes. Ah, the old 9V motor is the secret sauce to make it work. I had to make my PRR B1 into a BB1 a few years ago so I could fit in the Power Functions IR receiver, battery box and M-motor.

COVID-19 and will it impact Lego's profits?
dr_spock replied to AMD's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Sales-wise, maybe if the outbreak happen around the holiday shopping season. It could impact the regional sales biggly. Production-wise, LEGO has factories in other countries. Maybe the electronic products like Powered UP could be affected if Chinese suppliers closed. -
From the picture of the Japanese train in Railbricks 6, it looks like the rails could be 10 studs apart.

Good for nostalgia. I butchered my 7710 engine back in the days. This could work as a substitute.
