Wow- those are brilliant! Go put this up on Ideas right away!

Simple but effective. I really like the pneumatic T pieces used as door handles- that works really well.

Welcome to the community! Happy to have you here with us.

What a great bus. The interior is amazing functional for that scale! The ad for Chez Albert (and the other ads) is especially amusing to me, and a nice touch.

The workshop is incredible! Love all the details there. I had the same thought about the lights- I assumed they were meant to be masked, but my first thought was also that they should be tan. Beautiful build!

I was also about to suggest Storm's head... but it might be hard to find as an individual item: http://www.bricklink...P=3626cpb1218 The other thing I would suggest in this case since, as you mentioned, the sad reality is that there are basically only those 2 options, is recoloring a flesh or yellow head. If you can find a head with the overall features you want, you could probably get acceptable results with a marker or dye to darken it. A little more info here for inspiration if you decide to try that route: http://www.finecloni...yes,_&_More.pdf

That's very odd. I grabbed 2 of those hats from the CMF princess and tried them on about 10 or 12 minidolls, and on the majority I'd even say that it was a little loose (clutch power was fine and it didn't easily fall off, but they rotated easily and were far from hard to pull off). On one of them, however, the fit was much more snug and I noticed that on that one, other hair pieces were also stiffer. No where near getting stuck, but requiring easily 3x the amount of force to remove. I'd say that either the princess hat or more likely the Jasmine head are slightly mis-molded and has caused it to get stuck with the hard plastic princess hat vs. the soft minidoll hairpieces… unless they've updated the mold slightly or something, but an oversight of that magnitude would be surprising from TLG (even with some of the other molding/coloring issues they currently have). I'd be interested to know if other items are tight on Jasmine's head, or if the princess hat you have is difficult to remove on other minidoll heads. As for getting it un-stuck, I think your best bet is gently using very small needle-nose pliers (and grasping inside the neck hole onto the back of the head where any mark left will be less noticeable), or a very small screwdriver or other solid object small enough to get into the head hole and apply pressure at an angle while you gently work the hat off against that counterforce.

Can any of your pets connect LEGO pieces together?
deraven replied to legoman19892's topic in Community
That's, an… um… interesting question. I suppose I could see some parrots putting things together- they have the necessary spacial intelligence and dexterity, but for the most part it seems like they prefer to take things apart. -
Best whale I've seen at that scale. Great little scene! Sounds like a cool contest. Do you have any shots of the other entries (or all of them assembled together)?

Oh my gosh… I'm not a huge fan of chibi stuff, but I'd actually be OK if this were used in official sets! Super-cute, but actually a really well captured likeness of a bantha.

Wow. Simply stunning. I hardly know what to say. I think these are the best renditions I've ever seen! Many, many great techniques you've used here. I think the observation windows on the Colorado Eagle are especially clever and well done.

Yes, as long as you're not trying to run 9v train engines (which get their power from the metal rails in which case that's what you need to use), all the track is compatible. I wanted to chime in and add that, because Lego is based on an awesome System, regular Lego trains will actually run on Duplo track- the train wheels sit on the outside of the rails instead of inside, but they fit and run. Of course, they don't connect directly with the other types of track, but I thought it was interesting. Discovered that when one day I came downstairs and my kids had some of my train cars running on their Duplo train setup.

You've captured the head shape especially well. Nice!

[LDD MOC] Liberty/La Liberté - 1st rate ship of the line
deraven replied to Dunkleosteus's topic in Pirate MOCs
So… so many things that are amazing in this build! I don't have adequate time at the moment to give this the attention it deserves, but let me say that the design for the different cannons is excellent, and the parts usage for the way you did the rigging blows my mind!- 50 replies

Questionable character choice but really great MOC! I really like the ears, and the swamp base.

[MOC] Airport Crash Tender
deraven replied to Lucio Switch's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow. Simply outstanding! The scale really hits you when you see it next to the Mini Cooper! Fantastic job with the paneling, too- it really looks seamless and professional all-around... and then all the functions on top of the aesthetics! Bravo! -
I absolutely love it! You captured the shape of the crystal piece really well at that larger scale. Now I want to see the Crystal (Ultra) King similarly embiggened to go along with it!

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
deraven replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nope, can't see any pictures in your post, but I think we know what you're talking about. Those are indeed 1x2 plates used in SNOT walls. Just to confirm, I think this is a close-up picture of the walls your referring to in that MOC: http://pinlac.com/images/TwinTIEHangarBays-a11-015.jpg You can see there if you look closely that some of them are actually 2 1x1 plates which makes it easier to verify their dimensions. As for comparing the size to the minifigs in the shot, I see what you mean, but it simply appears to be a matter of the angle the picture was taken from. ACPin is on EB, so if you really need confirmation I'm sure you could message him. -
I believe Endriu is referring to the 40052 "Springtime Scene" ploy bag: http://brickset.com/sets/40052-1 Definitely a nice little set at $7.99US (and 40057 for Fall was nice, too!). The seasonal sets have been getting much better in general over the past few years, but I do wish they had more of these scenes than the cute brick-built animals they keep churning out. Anyway, I'm with the other folks thus far: The 1x1 flower heads are more versatile in general, but I think mixing them is the way to go for most scenes. There are so many creative things you can do with both types- definitely worth some time investigating different methods. One of my favorites is to take the (color-matched) base of a lever (part 4592) and attach it to either the stud-side of a traditional flowerhead or a 1x1 and then put it inverted-lever-base-down on a flower stem to make tulips.

[MOC] The Buddhist Temple
deraven replied to PolkovnikOnTheWhiteHorse's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The overall structure is outstanding! I especially like the Buddha statue with offerings inside, and the tree using flowers still connected to the sprue is interesting. Nice build! -
Yes, it's a design feature, not random. I do remember the "good ol' days" when gray pins were frictionless and black pins had friction, and that's all there was to it! It's potentially more confusing now that there are some pins with and without friction in the same colors, but it's easy to tell what you've got if you just look for the ridges as noted above.

Yes, and yes. A couple of potentially positive aspects to it, but on the whole... I'll point you here for further discussion: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107741

Lovely little build. I especially like the scroll/map - great effect!
