What a great old vehicle. It's been a few years, but I think that's Into the Wild.

Definitely this. I doubt those several folks have this particular item mislabeled, but it happens. In general this is good advice, especially if only a single seller has the part in the color you want. In this case, the only set that even had the Dark Tan is a 2015 set that I don't think is on the market quite yet, and that along with the fact that these are going for $5+/each on the low-end probably means that these are just from a non-retail purposed production run of that element.

That's a very nifty build! I felt compelled to comment, though, that the ship is no longer at the AZ Science Center. I was excited that a new Lego exhibit had come up as my family are members there, but that particular Lego exhibition was only there during the last quarter of 2012. Oh well, I missed it by a couple years!

When the decisions are made, they'll release an announcement and a video with the results. No other information to be had, unless you have an inside connection! The official decision timeline for that group is "Winter 2015" so it could be any time in the next 60 days. You can follow the LEGO Ideas blog where they give general updates and news as well as post the official announcements here: https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/blog

Can you show us what you've got so far, or highlight what area exactly you're having trouble with? It looks fairly straightforward as to how the SNOT area(s) are assembled, but the trick is how they're attached to the rest of the vehicle. To me it looks like the entire lower 2/3s of the back section (that's assembled upside-down) including the gas tank underneath are one complete assembly that then connects to the rest of the chassis just before, or possibly above, the rear axle. So that's all 1 block that slots in like a jigsaw puzzle piece connecting at a 90° angle (or 270º, depending on how you look at it).

Wha… what am I looking at here? It's bonkers! In a good way. The flyer with the dog as bait is my favorite.

Want to make non-LEGO LEDs

Depending on what you want to do, there are already a number of ready-made products available with various power, light, and integration options. Here's one ready-to-go example (which could be easily re-wired for a different power source: http://www.liteupblock.com/unlimitshop/index.php?cPath=36 -
I like the tower and the transition to the rest of the half-and-half building. The stairs + cellar door area is lovely. The slanty balcony + porch bit at the end of the building is great as well. Nicely done!

For what it's worth, here's the link to that: http://www.lego.com/en-us/legal/legal-notice/fair-play Also, a somewhat more detailed look at the brand and policies is available in this Fair Play brochure.

Well, I myself certainly have no interest in such items, but I wanted to chime in on the legality: I think as long as you don't use "Lego" in your product or store names and have a disclaimer saying your stuff isn't related to or endorsed by TLG, I think you're safe. That is, you can have that disclaimer at the bottom of the page, and then a product called "Brick Crucifix" with a description that says something like "This holy cross thingamajig is made of 100% new Lego brand bricks…" but you couldn't call your business "The Lego Rosary Shop" and sell a "Lego Crucifix", etc..

Please help with brick link (NEW) arghhh

There will be nothing on your wanted list until you add something to is. Start on the "Add Item" tab (or the "Upload" tab if you have a parts list from LDD, etc.) and when adding the first part(s) you'll be given the option of making a new list or adding them to your default list. Once you have 1 or more parts added to a list, it'll show up under the My Wanted List area that you're looking at there. -
I also go the "discount" route. I usually have $50-$75 worth of points in my VIP account at any given time, and if there's a set that I think is just a bit overpriced for whatever reason (may just be that I'm not /that/ into it but don't want to skip it altogether) and if it's something that either won't go on sale (an Exclusive) or I haven't been able to find discounted for long enough that I'm sick of waiting, I generally knock off 10-20% using VIP points. I think I knocked quite a bit off of a modular price once and depleted my VIP account, but usually when i'm making a bigger purchase I try to wait until a double- or triple-points event and then pay full price to take advantage of that (as VIP points used for a purchase don't accrue additional points themselves).

What the color change in the Green baseplates?
deraven replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I must agree with that- tan in addition to green and blue would have been great, and I could see there being a small price bump across all of them (even a dollar, perhaps) as there would be more overhead… but changing the green for no obvious reason, getting rid of blue (as TheLegoDr said, right before the launch of new Pirates!??), and adding tan instead along with a $2 price increase is just bizarre. Maybe TLG has something amazing planned for us that will cause this all to make perfect sense. -
What the color change in the Green baseplates?
deraven replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For what it's worth, I have about 20 opened and 5 sealed, and the color is all very close (and the regular green). The only variation is so slight it could easily be chalked up to shadows or lighting, but I don't think any of them are from particularly recent production runs. In fact, I just noticed that 2 of the sealed ones are actually set number 813 - from the late 80s/early 90s - and they seem to match just fine with all the rest. I would assume color variation would be from the new coloring process they started using which makes sense. Of course, I'd much rather have that level of variation than try to mix in these new bright green plates! I wonder what their thinking was… maybe the same line they gave us when they changed to the bleys: Kids needed more vibrant colors! -
What the color change in the Green baseplates?
deraven replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah, same here in AZ. I'm also puzzled as to how a completely new product can be "Classic." I understand that the price hasn't changed much in a long while (it was $4.50 in the late 80s, rising to $5.50 in the late 90s, and the $5.99 price since I think the mid-2000s), but changing the color AND bumping the price by $2.00 seems like a pretty odd move. I'd have understood if the price was increased, even by a significant margin, and the product was still consistent. Oh well… probably another one of those things that only really matters to us AFOLs. -
Are you meaning a retail Lego box to make it look more like their MOC is an actual retail product? If so, then yes, it's generally just a photo of a real Lego product box, with their own model & info placed on it. Find a photo of a box that'll work for your MOC (right dimensions, angle, etc.), take photos of your MOC that could pass for actual product photos, then use a tool like Photoshop, Gimpshop, Pixelmator, etc., to remove the photography from the real box and place yours onto it, as well as replacing the text for the name, set #, part count, etc.. I've also seen folks print off sheets with the front and side views of their pretend product box art and then carefully glue them to a real box and then have that subtly in the background of their MOC photos which his kinda cute. :)

Nice job at that scale! I really like the Taurean lurking in the background.

That's fantastic! Such a lovely, small town holiday season feeling, at an impressive scale. The Modulars and Winter Village elements you combined really work well together, and the "snow" you've added to the modulars is great as well. Thanks for sharing!

Sure thing. Hope you stay a while!

Absolutely. That's why I said "much younger" in my response, and even in the guidelines it says "around" 18 and "if you choose to ignore these guidelines" which seems to confirm that. In my experience I'm pretty sure I've come across users here who are earlier in their teens who are well spoken, respectful, and add value to the conversation, and are easily accepted as part of the community. So, while I myself wouldn't say that EB is "only" for AFOLs, based on the tone of the original question it seems like they must be looking for a significantly different crowd.

My 4 & 6 year-old kids love Lego almost as much as I do (and have more time to build- lucky them!), and my wife likes Lego, but I wouldn't call her an AFOL. Actually, she had a brief period where she was really getting into it, but then somehow her interest changed to knitting. She still appreciates a good build and totally "gets" my AFOL-ness, though, so now I just buy Lego and she buys yarn and needles, and it works out OK. Now, in my extended family, my mother understands completely and is happy to still send me a Lego set on my birthday or whenever, but my in-laws don't really get it. They don't have a problem with the amount of Lego I have, really, but they also can't bring themselves to give it as a gift since I think they still see it as a toy instead of a hobby for whatever reason… yet they'll buy my wife knitting books and whatnot. Oh well!

Wow! I really like the super-snowy landscape. Often when there's a MOC with a ton of "snow" it's just a white, shapeless mess. The way you've done yours, however, it really feels like a landscape with heavy snow cover. Very nice! And the cottage is great, too!

Er, well… from the Site Guidelines, Item #1: Welcome to Eurobricks! Age: Eurobricks is a site intended for an adult audience, which for the purpose of these guidelines are people of around the age of 18 or greater. We reserve the right to ban anyone who does not meet that requirement. Posting that you are not an adult is a quick way to be banned. If you choose to ignore these guidelines and sign up anyway, it is not our responsibility if you are offended by what you read or see. Similarly, if you are an adult who is offended by what is often labeled as adult content, you should probably avoid this site. So, I guess that would be a "yes." Why should you leave? Are you specifically looking for a younger crowd? Just because is for 18+ members doesn't mean we don't discuss silly things or topics of interest to the younger fans that most of know (or have in our households). Now, if you yourself are much younger and signed up anyway and now find that the discussion doesn't interest you, then I would definitely suggest trying a different forum. Otherwise, the membership here is so diverse (and generally good-natured and polite) that I think you'll find something to interest you if you just have a good look around.

Lovely build! I really like the way you did the harness/yolk for the horse- NPU with the clips and lances! So... does the horse know the route well enough that the driver doesn't need any control and can just drink the merchandise the whole way?
-
The scenes is great overall. Nice cannon & smoke from the barrel, I like the slightly curved wall, and like everyone else I have to say that the explosion is captured beautifully (with very NPU of those tan bushes)! The colors and detail on the wall are very nice as well.
