Lego Baseplate Price increasing.
paul_delahaye replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Your just now starting to see the European pricing cross over the pond, £4.99 for a 32 x 32 green or blue baseplate in the UK, and £10.99 for a pair of road plates. I agree, I think they have been priced out side what most will pay, but if you've got to have them....... I just wish you could buy the 32 x 32 in more colours off the shelf, especially white, brown and tan. -
Here is me thinking all second half sets had to rhyme....plANE, crANE, I wonder if we will see any pictures leaked today? As per 2 Christmas ago?

Worst single piece made by LEGO in 2014.......Ghostbusters instruction manual, does anyone own now that has not fallen to bits?

UK's Mirror has LEGO article on a Canadian Collector
paul_delahaye replied to kndy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Mmmmm, wonder why they have not done an article on a uk collector? According to brick set, I have 1368 sets, and they are all built, so technically I can get Guiness round to count them an award me a record, although I doubt it would stand for long, someone will no doubt have more. The number sounds very low? -
That's a great little poly bag, roll on 2015!

But if your going to go to the effort of buying from pick a brick, you'll have to either pay delivery or spend a minimum of circa £50 GBP or equivilent, as the original parts are still available and not super expensive on bricklink, why not just buy the original part from a seller who has one and keep the integrity of a classic set complete and accurate? If you ever sell the classic space sets, having them complete and accurate would surely be in your favour financially.

Appreciate it's probably a little bit late, and not the best picture of the balloon cart, but I think it's a good add on to the Mixer set, it's a reasonable scale to the trucks, but a little tall compared to a mini fig.

My local independant Toy shop in Farnham had the smallest 4 demolition sets, I must admit, the blue truck, grapel loader and conveyor was priced at £35 which is a little more than I expected for this set. But that truck is lovely, Although I'll wait until after Christmas for that one. For the time being I just picked up 60072 and 60073

Green 32x32 Baseplates Sold Out S@H
paul_delahaye replied to KringlesBricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've always thought it's a shame they don't offer the 32x32 baseplate in brown/red/tan/white without having to try and source them from brick link/lego parts direct, etc. I'm sure they would sell well. -
Congrats to the winners, I feel a little sorry for the Nil pointers, a bit like Britain in Eurovision! Sorry guys

Little Dump Truck

I love these compact little builds, such a clever use of parts in a compact space to add functions to the model. Nice job, -
Do you always try to have a backlog of sets to build?
paul_delahaye replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I reckon there is always 2 - 3 in backlog, but I can always find an old polybag or something small if I look hard. Currently I have a city train, arctic icebreaker and the Technic loader and Technic hauler in the backlog. -
For me it's technic, followed by Train and then City/Creator, but with Modular buildings and a few exceptional creator expert sets thrown in the Mix, actually it's hard to pick just one.

I'm sure the original instructions recommended an Ink Eraser (Rubber) or Methalated Spirits, lol, both hard to obtain now days and I doubt any are great for children

Brick 2014 in London, is Technic there?
paul_delahaye replied to Leif's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I think it's a little harsh to say Technic was poorly represented, there were many displays that could not have functioned without a technic element. Plus tons of Mindstorms on offer which contains many technic elements. Some of these automated fair rides would surely fall apart without a technic backbone There was plenty of Technic functions involved in most of these GBC modules. The Volvo was a slight disappointment for me, I really was sure I read somewhere it was going to be a L350 at the exhibition, turned out to be a baby L60G But overall a great show, always good to support a new show, I just think they need to have an AFOL night, where they remove all the children, and just let the Adults in for a couple of hours, but lots to do, and not too many repeat models from STEAM which is always good. Roll on 2015, it can only get bigger and better (well, there is a limit, it's already pretty big!) -
Lego Expertise ... way beyond Plastic Molding
paul_delahaye replied to DrJB's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Not one of the LEGO groups strongest areas this, just take a look at a set with large quantities of yellow in it. But this is not a LEGO bashing session, I'm sure it's massively complicated doing what they do with so many new parts each year. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
paul_delahaye replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
A new baseplate in an unusual colour :-) I wonder what the reference of the word Pool is? likely a pool table venue, but I'm unsure where it would be in the building? I can't quite read what it says on the windows of the ground floor building on the left either. I also really hope they have found a clever way to print onto clear glass, especially after Jamie mentioned with the PR how AFOL's wanted to pay a little more not to have stickers? -
Your Best Technic Bargains
paul_delahaye replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've already posted in buy and sell for UK offers, and whilst it's bad practice to repost, I think this is more relavent to this topic, I wanted 2 copies of the 42030 Volvo loader set to build both the A and B models, I'd been waiting for Argos in the UK to offer 3 for 2 on toys, but this year when the offer ran, they prevented you being able to order additional copies of the set into store during the promotional period. Anyway, instead the catalouge company "Very" were offering 3 for 2 on certain toys at the moment, the Volvo was in the offer, plus they had £30 credit for new customers, so I picked up 3 sets for the price of 2, plus the £30 credit made them £104.50 each, and they delivered next day, well chuffed. -
The UK Catalogue "Very" has 3 for 2 on toys at the moment, I've just picked up 3 of the Volvo Technic Loader for the price of 2, plus they had an extra £30 off credit for new members, so they worked out at £104 each, best price I've found. Argos 3 for 2 just was not cutting it

I vote no, and pray for a few years without police sets :-)
