  1. Yeah, I'm sure they would have done some research on it before making the decision. But I think it's a big bummer because they used to have a lot of really cool plates. Just in the Wild West theme, they had a road baseplate and a river baseplate. I'd like to see those put back into production with straight ones to match them.
  2. He does say that the helmet hasn't been in production since 1988.
  3. I still consider this just to be an expensive parts pack. If I didn't have so many of these parts already, it might be a good deal. It's really awesome that it comes with six cannons. I already have more cannons than I'm able to use, though. I know a lot of people like the fact Benny looks like a used toy, but I just can't get over that. It would have been so awesome if they released a very authentic 1980s space minifigure. This one just isn't good for much except recreating scenes from the Lego Movie. I wonder if they'll ever release a proper 1980s space set.
  4. What I really want to know is why they never include baseplates in sets anymore (except the tiny green plates in the tubs and the Lego Store exclusives).
  5. haha. We're just going to spend some time at Brickworld as part of the bachelor party weekend. I'm not sure what else they have planned. I told my cousin I didn't trust him to plan my bachelor party, so he let me in on that secret.
  6. I'm glad they're looking for other options, but I hope they have the guts to give up on an inferior material if it doesn't work out. I also hope this new stuff makes them a lot cheaper.
  7. Awesome! I go every year, but this year it's going to be special. It's going to be part of my bachelor party.
  8. This one's hilarious.
  9. I'm definitely not interested in paying $250 for a pure parts pack. I agree with whomever it was that pointed out it's a children's set with an adult price tag. I'm sure kids will be entertained by this, but not many parents will shell out that kind of money for it. Most of these Lego Movie sets have been very disappointing. When the theme was first announced, I was hoping we'd see some really awesome new sets in old themes that would actually go well with the old sets. They had such a great opportunity. It's especially disappointing that Benny's helmet is broken and his torso has the scratched-paint look. TLG has never made me want to cry and puke simultaneously before now.
  10. I don't think that happened until the next wave. Also, the transition ones had a black piece at the end. They made them that way for quite a while before they introduced the ones with the logo on them.
  11. Those were the only kind available when this set was released.
  12. Great review. It's so awesome that you actually had an unopened one! One thing that does stand out to me with this set, though, is how similar the minifigures are. They're almost identical (although it's interesting that they included a female). I think there weren't a lot of variations in the pirate minifigures until 1995ish. But it's probably difficult to come up with new ideas for pirate outfits. They can't differ too much without losing the classic pirate feel.
  13. For a long time, I've wanted to see more buildings in the pirate theme.
  14. I've never thought of that before, but I really wouldn't be surprised at all.
  15. They do go very nicely together. I hope to see these in future MOCs.
  16. I would like a Sherlock Holmes kind of theme.
  17. What is that set supposed to be? Edit: I should have reloaded the page before I replied. Now I see the answer. I seriously thought it was a Technic set. It looks awesome!
  18. Benny's Spaceship looks great, but I'm disappointed that his helmet is broken. That really limits the usefulness of that minifigure.
  19. I think the bicycle shop is a little disappointing. I was hoping it would have several bikes.
  20. We need some kind of UCS castle. I don't even care which one. Helm's Deep wasn't a very satisfying build because it's not a complete structure. (Although it was awesome otherwise.)
  21. I like how your MOCs are so classic. The brick-built dragon really increases the nostalgia factor.
  22. This is fantastic. I love that you used classic minifigures with smiles.
  23. They're flexible tubes. If you're going to cut a bar, your best bet would probably be the old lance piece. I think that's the longest piece you're going to find that isn't flexible.
