Some of my Monster Fighters creations
jodawill replied to Jorrith's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That castle is really cool. I like the torture chamber. It really needs a baseplate though. It would look great with a 48x48 gray baseplate. -
This is awesome. I like the idea of having a castle hidden behind the rocks. Where are those helmet pieces from?
-
That's beautiful. I like it!

It looks great, but I see so many people here saying they won't buy it. I doubt many kids will get it. Are there enough non-AFOL Simpson fans out there to make this a success? As good as it looks, I think this is a mistake on TLG's part. The Simpsons isn't as popular as it used to be and Thia isn't a kids show. I just don't know who they expect to buy this.

What do you care what other people think?

Nice! They all look superb.

Middle-Earth Madness - Rohan Battle Pack vs Mount Doom [Week 3]
jodawill replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Rohan Battle Pack hands down. It definitely sounds like more bang for the buck. Frodo, Sam, and Gollum would probably be the only minifigures included in a Mount Doom set, and the build probably wouldn't be terribly interesting. It's just rock. -
That's hilarious. I can't believe I've never even thought of having them in dark red. That would definitely make more sense. I think the dark red tiles used in the modular firehouse look better than those bricks though.

What you're going through right now is called the "dark ages." It's completely normal for teenagers to be worried about what other people think. That said, it's completely stupid for anyone to be worried about what other people think when it comes to things like this. Thankfully, it's something most people grow out of once they hit their mid 20s or so. Edit: As for your question… Even when I was little, I never got a lot of excitement out of playing with my toys. I was only ever interested in building things, especially my own creations. As I got older, following the instructions became a lot more boring to me, but I still get just as excited about creating my own stuff. When I finish building something, I either keep it on a shelf for a while or I take some photos and rip it apart. If I ever have time someday, I want to take my MOCs to Brickworld.

Here are some more interesting ones: Wedge, Plate A Shaped with 2 Rows of 4 Studs Plate 3 x 3 Cross Tile 2 x 2 Corner And the Flounder minifigure(?) looks really nice. A brick L-shaped corner would also be nice. Personally, I've always wanted them to make some more of the log-type bricks. I've always wished they made a 1x1 log brick for the western sets.

It would be awesome if they actually do make future garage sales purchases better condition. But kids will be kids, and most of them destroy their toys. I'm sure I have well over a dozen of the new ones. I thought about selling them, but they're probably worth next to nothing since they're so common. (I'm surprised they even have people buying them separately.) But I'm convinced I'll find a use for them someday. I still prefer the old brick separators for most jobs though. The new ones don't have as much torque and there are several situations where I haven't gotten the new ones to work.

Darkdragon, It shows up in incognito mode, so I don't think it has anything to do with browsing history.

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
jodawill replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Sorry, I meant the sheet music. If it's just a sticker, then I guess I'm not interested in it. I'll just buy the dress pieces on Bricklink.- 2,626 replies

How to store LEGO to avoid scratches on bricks
jodawill replied to Adam87's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I actually prefer the old ones for most situations. For some reason, the new ones don't work as well in situations where two separators are required. They don't put enough torque on the studs and they just come off the studs when you try to take the pieces apart. -
I really like the female minifigure. She reminds me of the old Errol Flynn movies.

I may be in the minority, but I actually think it would be cooler if Smaug was made of a few pieces like the 1990s dragon. It wouldn't be very accurate, but there's no way they'd ever get the scale correct anyway if there are minifigures in the set. It might not be as appealing to some AFOLs, but I think it would be more fun to play with a single piece than some fragile thing with exotic parts I may never find a use for.

He looked very strange in this movie. It wasn't just his eyes. I think he's gained some weight since LotR. But his makeup seems wrong somehow, even besides his eyes. I'm not sure what I thought of the elves in general. A lot of the fighting stuff was cool, but I think some stuff was too over the top, like Legolas walking on people's heads. I think it might have been better to be a little more realistic.

The absolute worst thing is when I go to garage sales. I always ask them about Legos (that's what we call it in my country) as soon as I get there. The response I usually get is, "Oh, we had a huge tub and we just sold it a few minutes ago." I missed out on the largest Lego collection I've ever seen just a few months ago. Someone bought all the sets but left the instructions, idea books, Brick Kicks magazines, birthday supplies, etc. from the '80s and '90s. There were tons of classic space, forestmen, and pirates sets. There were some large sets that they had half a dozen of. All of the instruction manuals were in mint condition. For $5, they gave me about a hundred instruction books, mostly for $100-range sets, over half a dozen mint condition posters from the '80s and '90s (including a classic space poster!), several idea books, and an entire unused birthday kit from the '80s. I also found a ton of cool random things like stickers and tattoos and stuff. Everything was in flawless condition. I almost cried while I went through all of those things. Someone, somewhere now has the greatest collection I've ever seen, and they probably gave it to some toddler to slobber on.

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
jodawill replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Huh. I never knew that. I still haven't decided whether I'm going to buy that one. The only reason I want it is because I like the blue dress and the piano tile. (Is that piano tile printed or is it a sticker?) I'll probably Bricklink the parts I want.- 2,626 replies

Paid Membership with perks? Any interest?

I'm in favor of a donation link with no perks. I wouldn't mind donating a few dollars occasionally, but I wouldn't want any commitments. -
The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
jodawill replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Personally, I'm relieved to see that these "toys" are such a disappointment. I worked at McDonald's for five years and they treated me like garbage, so I swore I'd never step foot in one again. I'm glad I won't be missing out on anything exciting. The Target in my town sold out of the Lego Movie sets within 24 hours of their first shipment (except that binder thing, whatever that is; I haven't looked at it). Meijer has plenty of all the sets (not the minifigures) in stock except that saloon airplane. (For some reason, they never even got any in their first shipment.)- 2,626 replies

Yeah, it may technically be an AFOL-only website, but I'm sure there are thousands of kids who visit the website too, even if they don't have an account. I'm sure there are a lot of people in this thread who have kids they let onto this website all the time. I'm sure no one here chose it on purpose. They probably have no control over the ads that show up on the front page. That may be true (it showed me a suit ad and I've been shopping for suits). But I know there's nothing in my browsing history that would make it suggest anything like that unless it assumes everyone uses Reddit for adult material (a lot of the famous subreddits are smut). I don't even play video games. Edit: Or maybe torrents?
-
I just clicked on it and it's actually not an adult site, but I still don't think the ad is appropriate for this website.
-
I haven't noticed this in the past because I had Adblock turned on, but I disabled it for Eurobricks today because I want to help support the website. I just saw this ad on the homepage. It's some sort of sex game or something. I'm not sure how much control the admins have over these things, but seeing as how this is a website for children's toys, that kind of thing doesn't really seem to be appropriate here, so I thought I'd mention it.
