My Catfish MOC

I thought the dog built from 42004 was weird, but this out-weirds it by a furlong. Superb job.- 14 replies

Wow, this guy actually had something positive to say about the B-model! Reviewing is subjective, huh?

8482 Cyber Master

8457 is the Power Puller, Jeroen! I think you mean 8450 - The Mission. -
Andy, mate. You forgot the best part: the saw! Oh. Right. Anyhoo, I think the cutting action so nonexistent here could be possible with something a little more accurate for this type of machine; namely this part. Actual harvesters have such a blade that flicks laterally and slices the log. TLG could have used a gear action that does the same thing using the aforementioned part instead of the Ninjago/System saw. Funny to hear that people are having an issue with the small cylinder. Sariel's video makes it look so smooth!

If anyone's fussed, this guy has every video from the set on his YT channel. Go look! -

Cool stuff! Boost and Mindstorms work on very similar principles today. Even though this set really is an example of why TLG stumbled around the late 90's (too many unique parts and expensive electronics), you can see the parallels, especially with the programmable commands. -
Old Style beams

I agree. The studded original is still the best. No beating it. -
They could use the smooth connector in LBG. Anyway, speaking realistically, it's possible that TLG has a surplus of the white connectors so they're using them up here. Would make sense, since the slump in 2017 was partially down to excess inventory.
-
I actually don't understand why the white 3L connector is still used so much as an extender/space filler now that we have the smoother version. Is the smoother version more expensive or something?

You could use a massive wraparound bumper (like on the AC395 in Terminator 3) to give the cab some more heft at the front.

While I do wonder that as well, Erik, do remember that fitting the new valves in here would be much harder than merely using the existing ones, and they're probably the most hyped non-Bugatti parts produced this year. It's likely that the designers thought 42080 was the best candidate to showcase them. That said, does anyone else here think that the new valves might not catch on? Look at the hand pump in 42053 - we haven't seen it since then. Oh, and @mpj - you rock! I particularly like the orange pin with bush used as a battery box handle - it's really in keeping with the orange parts' purpose.
