  1. It's very lean and functional, but operator comfort isn't exactly an issue here.
  2. Bad A-S-S! The cultivator is really cool as well.
  3. Those prototype pics are beyond incredible! What a great feature for the manual. @Cumulonimbus, it would indeed be superb to see this sort of thing in regular Technic again. Sets like 8446 had concept drawings and schematics in between sections of the instructions. Manuals are a bit too plain these days: build it, here's a quick rundown of the functions, done. It'd feel more immersive and creative if TLG went that extra mile.
  4. They forgot the dark orange, orange and silver.
  5. Bloody hell, Grum - it took you three hours to build an engine? That's usually the part I do quickest, if only because it's so damn boring. Granted, though, I've never done anything bigger than a V6. Good to see you're progressing, and well done for finding Bully!
  6. Same probable reason the 42071 didn't have double wheels: the price of the set.
  7. That is some floaty steering! It's to be expected I guess. And again, several civilizations reached their peak and fell while the outriggers were retracting.
  8. It's the same price as 42042, which is motorized and about 273 pieces bigger. It's a bit of a stumbling block. But then the tyres, LAs and bucket are probably fairly expensive to produce, so maybe it's justified. Aside from two PF parts, 42042 doesn't include anything like that.
  9. It's £109.99 in the UK, at least according to the box of the 42081 sitting in the display case at Smyth's...
  10. Me either. You must leave the house to check availability, sadly. +1
  11. I prefer numbered bags myself. They made building 42054 a lot easier since it's divided into two large modules.
  12. All of the 2H sets bar the Bugatti are in at my local Smyth's.
  13. Never said the individual parts weren't cool.
  14. So using silly City elements, awful clashing colours and wheel rims that wouldn't look out of place on a pimpmobile are "compromises"? Nope. Look, I feel I've made my stance on this set crystal clear several times over. I've repeated myself incessantly and it's starting to wear thin. Look back over this topic if you want more. As a bonus, I'll throw in my personal pros and cons at a glance. Enjoy! Pros: It's something new and interesting. Great idea! Both models are linked by subject matter. Some wonderful parts and the air valves look cool. The steering is genius. Lovely looking '42080' logo. Looks very playable. Cons: Horrible colour scheme. Only two pneumatic functions that feel shoehorned in. Price is high. Silly accessories that add to the price. Saw does zippo. System parts used inexpertly; unbalanced level of detail. You like it. Good for you! Go buy it if that's how you feel. I'm sure TLG will appreciate the business. Let's move on now.
  15. I agree! A good crop all round this year. I'd even give 42080 a thumbs-up for sheer innovative audacity.
  16. What exactly makes the L motor more expensive than the M motor, exactly? I'm aware its availability is comparatively limited considering 8293, but is it objectively more expensive to produce per unit? Look at every other set in this wave. All of them functionally reflect what they are modelled on brilliantly (I know 42081 is a bit skinny in places compared to the 'real' thing, but the panels used were probably to accommodate the B) and look great, with good colour schemes to match. 42080 just doesn't meet those standards. It looks odd and doesn't reflect the purpose of its real world inspiration. It's a great idea. I'll agree with anyone on that. But the execution needs to be better for the price.
  17. 42053 has the Volvo licence and more parts. And more valves. And it looks good.
