  1. Could you gear it up 1:2 with a 24t and a 12t gear, or would that be too much even for the rc motor?
  2. I was looking for suitable technic wheels for my moc, and when I was going through the list, I found this piece. When I saw it, I remembered that I have one in white, so I clicked the lots for sale thing to see if it was worth anything because in the parentheses (after "lots for sale"), there was only a 1. I looked and there is only one for sale. In the whole world. For 44 freakin' dollars! Forty-four dollars. What the hell. I know this is from the ucs y-wing, but only one? And for 44 dollars in used condition, with 1/3 of it sunburned? That is just outrageous! Does anyone know why there is only 1 for sale and why it is so expensive?

  4. Sorry, I meant the pendular suspension in 9398 that can also have the whole frame pushed downward over the axle. Sorry if this is unclear.
  5. I am pretty new to technic, and I would like to build a rock crawler, but I am not sure how pendular suspension works. I can see it has one pivot point on the axle and two on the frame, but shouldn't that still stretch the shock absorbers when it tilts? So yeah, I am not sure what to do, so if anyone could give me some pointers for just a generic pendular suspension, that would be great.
  6. I think that if they are used a lot, they will gain more elasticity. I bought some new and heavily used hoses both from 8110 and the used ones are definitely easier to attach.

  8. OK thanks Mbmc! I always thought they were weaker. Coincidentally, I was over at a friend's house just hours before typing this and I saw some 14t gears, and he said that I could have them. I guess I can try them out, and I also like how they are flat, and are good for meshing at angles that are not 90 degrees. They are also much more similar to real ones than the 12t gears, right?
  9. Why does the drive motor have 14t gears connected to it? Or is that the steering motor?

  11. Awesome! I've never seen that before, it's a pretty good idea though,but it takes a lot of space and motors and the output is on the side.
  12. I just found this piece in my Legos, the old "engine piston". I also found this piece and made a more compact connecting rod and crankshaft than the older models without having to have the cylinders offset. I also got 8 of this piece in yellow for making a v8, just placing them on top of the old piston squares. For a more accurate cylinder though, you would need this piece, except with a square hole so the piston could fit through. Here is a picture of the complete connecting rod and piston with a size comparison to the newer one: I think it could be useful for large models without pneumatic engines for better scaling.
  13. That seems like a feasible solution, but I only mod pieces if I have to, sometimes even rebuild a whole model. I'm kind of paranoid about having crown gears in a drivetrain though, they are the second weakest gear.
  14. Ok thank you OleBM and allanp! I didn't know that it would work with 12 tooth gears. I think it could also be driven from the side (horizontal to the 28 tooth ring).
  15. I already own a 24-16 tooth differential and a 28 tooth bevel one, but I do not own the oldest version with 28 spur teeth. I was just wondering about the performance of the old one, the newest one and the 24-16 one, but I am afraid that the 28 tooth spur differential might be bad because it is usually driven by a 14 tooth gear, which is an extremely weak gear.
  16. Lego really needs to decide on only one way to make yellow bricks; the color inconsistencies are really apparent in this big model... Great moc though, I love combining technic with system bricks, looks awesome.
  17. What do you mean? Do you own one? It doesn't seem like it's the same bottom, and it seems to shift more realistically (at 45 degrees instead of 90).
  18. So I was looking at the 8880 parts list when I discovered a strange piece. I later learned that it's used to move driving rings. Does anybody have one to compare performance-wise to the changeover catch?

  20. Do you have any modified at the time? I just spent 8 usd on cv joints, so could I send them to you to modify them? Then, of course, if you already have them modifed, then I can't do that, and shipping might be too much of a hassle considering you are in Australia. I'll have to get some money by working in the yard, I can probably have it by today or tomorrow.

  23. There's a crown gear in the front! Could you have used a 36 tooth gear instead? That weak little gear might break.

  25. Whoa... I did not see that coming. I guess I better be careful, I have these magnets called buckyballs and they are just kind of lying around, so I better watch out.
