One question, why is the lettering on the long hood over red bricks instead of white? All the photos you showed for reference seem to show the lettering is on the white part of the hood. That is my only criticism. Now onto the praise, this is a wonderful build! The angles and the shaping give it that SD40 vibe, and I am loving that. I can already imagine the sounds of the SD40 running through the notches hauling a train behind it (note even my profile picture has a subtle tribute to the SD40 locomotive...). I think one of the most impressive features is the shaping of the dynamic brake blister on your train, very well done.

Best and worst Masks and helmets?
xboxtravis7992 replied to Lord-Vorahk's topic in LEGO Action Figures
In defense of the 2015 Hau: It looks like a Hau. Comes in four colors. It ain't a Hau Mistika (ewwwww...)! But in all seriousness, I think so many of us like it because it is well detailed. It is one of the few, masks with a sculpted interior side. Not even the Mask of Creation looks as good from the back. It resembles the G1 mask well, and is very nostalgic for many of us. I compared the differences between the original Hau from 2001, to the Hau in 2015 as the differences in design between a 2001 Mustang and a 2015 Mustang. However we do understand your criticism to. It is a thick jaw. I personally like it since it gives Tahu an action hero vibe, but I can totally understand why it isn't for everybody. The 2016 MoF definitely improved the look in many ways. -
21306: The Beatles Yellow Submarine (LEGO Ideas)
xboxtravis7992 replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think they will be useful to cross the streets in-between buildings with Paul out of step #PaulIsDead. Just kidding... I do wish the figures looked more like the actual real life band members, but with the source material Lego did an accurate job. I've never actually seen the film though, sounds like to much of a trip! -
I watched Jangbrick's video review today of this set. I still feel it is way to small, and doesn't feel proper. I like that it does look kind of quaint, and it seemed to make a chugging noise as the wheels bounced around on Jang's layout at the end of the video. But for all it does right, I still feel cheated somehow. Maybe it was a mistake to expect it had to hold up to the same standards as the previous Creator trains, and admittedly the smaller scale fits perfectly with the previous Winter Village sets. But I might be to much of a rivet counter now when it comes to trains, and it is really hampering my view of the finished model. While I want it for completion sake to continue my collection of "Creator" trains, I feel like I would get more enjoyment by spending the money on some HO Scale Trains, or Bricklinking parts for my own Lego Train, or maybe the money could be better spent on Lego Star Wars or Superheros, or even chasing down the last Bionicle sets. And that is a sad feeling for me. The previous three Creator trains were so well done, they were on top of my want list ahead of many of the things I listed (I sometimes wish I had bought second copies of the Maersk, the EN, and the Horizon Express). I bought those trains only a month or two after release. But this Winter Village train has yet to make me feel that way; feel like I want it above all else, which is making me feel a little sad .

That is what I heard to. And it is true, I haven't seen them in a long time to, see that method might no longer be in use. -

I think they were randomly packaged. I own four Piraka and can verify the majority is a shade of lime-light-green. But my Vezok included just one sphere in dark green. The Toa Inika had a similar issue, were some of the Nuparu and Hewkii figures came with orange spheres, and others with red spheres and sometimes a mix of both.

This is awesome. It captures the feeling of being in a small basement room, with a pile of bricks and a world of possibilities. The ultimate man cave!

It has been to long since I watched any of the films (heck last time I was at Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean was closed to so it has been years since I last rode the original ride!) I really should watch the first film again. Of the four films, the third film is my least favorite, although it has a redeeming quality in that the "Davy Jones's Locker" purgatory scenes were filmed near my hometown. The local newspaper had photos of the film production on the front-page the day after filming was completed.

If anything could slow down the posts in a licensed discussion thread I will feel happy. I rarely use them because there are dozens of posts a day. If I don't read them everyday sometimes 10 or more new pages of information can accrue. I get in there and have to sift through lots of stuff before I even get to what I want. Then when I ask a question I soon feel like a fool, with the realization the question had been asked and answered by someone else twenty pages back in the discussion... If read-only threads, or dividing official set discussion from rumor discussion helps alleviate this I'll be happy.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
xboxtravis7992 replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I'll just leave this here: (Note I put this here when "Captain Jack needs to be back on Dr. Who" was its own separate topic for some reason. Since I don't know anything about the series, I decided that this is the Captain Jack people were talking about!) -
The best of the worst Lego Ideas
xboxtravis7992 replied to anothergol's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes this new 60 day filter will keep the half-hearted troll kiddie projects from lasting that long. Sure they will be archived, but they won't waste space when searching for good projects. Although this thread is about to get a lot more quite I am willing to bet! -
MOC UCS Y-Wing (10134) Clone Wars Era - WIP

Looking great so far! -
Yesterday for the 50th anniversary, I watched one episode from TOS . I ended up choosing Tomorrow Is Yesterday. It wasn't as campy as some of the other TOS episodes I have seen, and I had fun watching it. The CGI effects used in the updated version shown on Netfllix, did help the dramatic scenes be a little bit more impressing to.

I never thought that creepy face print would ever serve a purpose. I was wrong, it is perfect for Baymax! I might have to borrow that idea someday.

Automated Rotary Railroad Dumper + Automated Conveyor Belt Loader
xboxtravis7992 replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I found an HO scale model of a rotary dumper. It is giving me ideas on how the Lego mechanism could be further improved. It looks like the gear rings from the Mine Excavator set are a bit bigger then they need to be, but since Lego hasn't made anything smaller it will have to do. The hardest part as has been mentioned to perfect, would be the locking mechanism to prevent the cars from flying off, while still being simple enough to not obstruct the unloading. With that said, I am continually amazed by the programming and engineering that went into your version Sariel. I hope that your model is an inspiration for many many more rotary dumpers to come! I am also very impressed by your loading mechanism to. The level of automation is astounding! -
Assault on Hoth: Overpriced, not a cohesive model. Might be worth it someday at discount. Death Star: Same old, but I never got the original... Will be buying this one after I save some money!

[MOCs] New Haven Boxcab Electric Locomotives
xboxtravis7992 replied to CrispyBassist's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Yes I really hope Penn Station gets the refurb it needs so badly. Such an ugly piece of 1960's/1970's cost cutting minamalism built so an ugly stadium could replace the original architectural wonder that was Penn Station. Besides my father can't stop talking about how awful the restroom was in that station to, yuck! But Grand Central Terminal, that is an entirely different story. Such a beautiful preservation job! Wonderful eateries and stores. Gorgeous architecture. Plus the fact the street outside us where the climactic battle from The Avengers took place to is a sweet bonus ;)- 18 replies
