That looks like it was a whole lot of fun to build over the years. Sometimes I think I wish I had gotten into Hero Factory, I never bought any of the sets.

Hammerhead Cruisers in film? Dang, lots of fanboying over that little detail :) And that trailer was awesome!

Yes the Maersk Train has buffers, but that has more to do with Lego not making a new mold when it was really needed... The old magnets could work without buffers, but after the great toy safety magnet panic a few years ago, Lego introduced the new magnets as being permenanetly stuck with the buffers.

Did anyone else watch tonight's Agents of SHIELD?
-
Seeing they aren't well known and not currently canon I doubt Lego will make them into sets. They are easy vehicles to MOC though, I did that for the T2-B already. http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/427550

Should lego make army theme or not?

That Toy Story alien is packing some Halo guns as heat? -
This is the parts inventory for the Squirrel Girl (cerca 2015) version I want to build one of these days: Hair: Part ID Head: Part ID Accessory-Tail: Part ID Torso: Part ID Legs:Parts ID Accessory-Squirrel: Part ID Accessory-Hair Bow (for squirrel): Part ID I'm also thinking on coming up with ideas for some characters from Agents of SHIELD; and I already have a custom Coulson made, but I am waiting for the rumored "Coulson and Lola" set to come out before I move further with those characters. I already have three bodies of the Maria Hill figure that I picked up on Bricks and Pieces, one I will use for the official Maria Hill, another for Melinda May, and another for Bobbi Morse (Mockingbird, although she might look better with the Sharon Carter torso). I also have a stupidly simple idea for a Lego version of the Iron Man Mark 2 suit as seen in the first Iron Man film, just take the Dr. Who Cyberman figure, and head swap with a Tony Stark face and the helmet from the 2013 War Machine figure. I am sure I am not the first to think of that, but it seems so obvious!

Somehow you incorporated a Skull Spider from Bionicle for use as a minifigures head? Brilliant, plain brilliant.

I would love that MTT idea, but it doesn't sound much different than set 7662 from 2007, which honestly is big enough I am sure it could be motorized in some way, albeit sacrificing some of the other play features. Not to mention getting 20+ copies of the same battle droid figure we have had since 1999 would be boring, I already have more of those things than I ever wanted... EDIT: Somebody already has motorized the 7662, a bit slow on the gearing but it works: Venator would be a good choice, I think it has a wide appeal, due to the fact it is sort of a mini version of the classic Star Destroyer. The fact the hangar bay could open to show additional detailed areas would be a bonus. True mini-figure scale AT-AT, and motorized? Probably not. I don't want to sell a kidney to buy it. The engineering challenges to build it would be more suited for an AFOL MOCcer, since I doubt Lego could make a model that huge with motors and have it be easy enough a child could build it (I know UCS sets are aimed at adults, but for the most part Lego still makes them easy enough for even a 12 year old child to build if they have experience with previous Lego sets.) My ideas of models I would want to see given the UCS treatment: -Millennium Falcon -Y-Wing -Naboo Royal Cruiser -Podracers -AT-ST -Cloud City UCS Playset -Starkiller Base

Force Friday (30th September) promotions

My Revan and Battlepack were just listed by FedEx as having been delivered to my parent's house. I hope to head out to visit my parents either tonight or early tomorrow morning, so I am pumped to finally get Revan in my hands. -
Yes pearl silver would be a great color choice. It could be a flagship set with several different figures (Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Queen decoy, Padme disguised, Ric Ollie, R2-D2, and a few other astromechs). I know it couldn't in canon the Queen's ship can't have weapons, but there could be some battle droids to recreate the scene where the pilots are rescued from capture. (Maybe even a vulture droid starfighter to pursue the Queen's ship?)

I don't understand why Lego is putting the molding marks in such obvious places on bricks now. These train windows are in line with something I observed in new Bionicle sets where the molding mark was so obvious it was placed front and center in the mask designs. The fact it is happening on train windows to is just bizarre. I wonder what Lego's purpose is for this? Does it help manufacturing in any way?

LEGO Ideas Discussion
xboxtravis7992 replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Dang, that will be an AWESOME set. I am thinking with today's announcement of the Fishing Shop in addition to the Beatles set and the Saturn V, next year will be a great year for Ideas sets. So far my only Ideas set is Wall-E, but I want a lot of the ones coming next year! I think Ideas and most of the D2C sets Lego are making right now are making my wishlist grow constantly bigger and more expensive... -
What was the last movie you watched?
xboxtravis7992 replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I was about five years old when The Phantom Menace was released and I LOVED IT at that age. Everything from the battle droids, podracing, to Darth Maul. It wasn't until I was older that I came to terms of just how bad of a movie it was compared to the original. But if evidence is needed that the stuff meant to appeal to children in TPM, I can vouch that as a child it was very appealing! I also don't mind Ewoks, just because they remind me of Shi-Tzu's and that is an instant pass in my book. Anyways back to the topic, the last movie I watched was Sully. It was a nice dramatic movie to watch, although it stressed me out every time they recreated the crash/water landing sequence despite the fact that I knew that nobody died. The tension was very well handled, although the time jumps in the story did muddle the plot at times. -
Should lego make army theme or not?
xboxtravis7992 replied to Peter22's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, I would love to have some models of some Mustangs, Corsairs, Lightnings, Spitfires, and Zeros... And some tanks would look great in Lego models. But there are a few big issues with a "War Theme" that make me understand why Lego doesn't (and shouldn't) have one. The most famous wars of the 20th Century, World War One and Two, were for "to close to home" for the Danes who run Lego. Their country borders Germay, and is near Norway, Belgium, and France. These wars affected their countries far more than it affected even the US. Sure the US was involved in the war, but it was the Europeans who had to suffer their villages being bombed by either side, their religious minorities being rounded up by the Nazi's and executed, the death of brothers and fathers; and all the other ugly consequences of those two wars. Not to mention the period of history in post-war Europe that divided the continent between Democratic Republics to the west, and Communist countries to the east, separating families and friends due to political borders. As I said the history of those wars is "to close to home" for Lego to be comfortable portraying it as toys. Battlefields are also very violent and ugly. Sure the argument could be made that Star Wars, Nexo Nights, Bionicle, Ninjago, and Superheros are all stories laced with violence; but they have a certain aspect of fantasy. When Alderann blows up in Star Wars we see the tragedy, but it isn't "real" in any sense. It is just part of the fantasy story telling. War is very real, and vicious. My Great-Grandfather died in WW2 on the USS Skill of the coast of Italy. Another ancestor died at Gettysburg. While it would be cool to have a Lego model depicting a World War Two minesweeper boat (such as the USS Skill was), it would also be disturbing to see the Lego play features implemented in such a set. Would there be an exploding function to represent the moment a torpedo hit that boat? Would there be a little catapult to fling sailors off the sinking ship? Would it be a "battlepack" and include the German U-Boat that sank the ship, with functioning spring loaded missile shooters? While I think a static display MOC would be an appropriate way to depict that history, Lego's normal style of play sets would feel a little disrespectful to the memory of my progenitors who fought in those wars, and died in them. Another reason I feel war themed Lego is best left for Adult or Teen MOCers who are aware of the serious nature of war. Also when will we draw the line of a war being "to recent" if that pandora's box was opened? While WWII might seem far enough in our minds, what about wars such as the conflict in Iraq and Afaganistan, Vietnam, Bosnia, or Korea? How would a veteran of those wars feel to see an official Lego set depicting the war they were in? PTSD is a major issue among veterans, and the last thing we need is Lego triggering their bad memories. So to clarify, I think war is a very appropriate subject for MOCers to tackle (with respect and dignity). As I said earlier, I myself would love to have some WWII era airplane or ship MOCs for display. But by mass producing Lego sets, Lego is bound to cause to much controversy and cause issues. It sets the strange precedence that kids are playing with toys representing some of the darkest moments of human history, and recent ones too... I will be honest I was shocked and surprised when I saw Megablocks release a Call of Duty theme for the same reasons (not to mention the CoD games are themselves really intended for a 17 and older audience, so seeing it with a children's toyline made me think it is aiming for the wrong audience...) Sorry for the long post, it just seemed all these ideas came into my head all at once and just felt like I had to state them. -
LEGO Ideas: 21310 Old Fishing Store (Fall 2017)
xboxtravis7992 replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Town
Well that was unexpected, but cool! I like the look of the building. I thought Johnny 5 was too similar to Wall-E to pass. While I thought the Star Wars ones were cool, I doubted they would pass to. But the fishing stuff looks fun! -
"Cuentan", your right that is a better translation. Darn my Spanish is sure getting sloppy! Anyways it does seem the title of Inside Out in Spain actually was "Al Reves" but the pun is completely lost as you mentioned... But anyway back to the subject of Pirates!

It could be translation into Latin based languages. "Los Muertos no dicen Historias" just doesn't roll off the tongue as well as "Dead Men Tell no Tales." Disney has done this before with many of their films, for example Inside Out in Spanish (Latin America) is titled Intensa Mente (Intense Mind). Sounds stupid in English, but trying to say Inside Out in Spanish (Adentro y Afuera?) just doesn't sound right.

Yeah I just noticed that little flag. So yeah the function is still there I guess. I was just looking for a traditional report button.
-
I just noticed I can't find the report button on the new mobile version of the site. That is going to make it harder to flag spam.

I haven't tried it yet, but the friction joints used in Bionicle sets should help the ball joint be a bit more stable. It will make the neck a little bit longer though, but not to much.
-
I've actually long thought about how cool a brick built Bionicle diorama would look. The issue is since Bionicle figures are so huge, any structure would need to be larger that a modular building set to be convincing. It would be huge and expensive. The other path I have considered is building a "scale model" style diorama. This would start with insulation foam, use plaster molded rocks, lots of glue and latex paint, some styrene, some rocks and some ground foam. It would be more work than building it in Lego, but the final build would be cheaper and would look like a natural environment. Seeing Bionicle normally has natural looking settings, that might be the best option.

What do you do with leftover battle packs?
xboxtravis7992 replied to Kimguroo's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I want to buy multiples of battle packs, but economically I can't afford that yet; so I have yet to have the issue of having more than one copy of any battlepack.
