  1. Thanks, it looks like I did goof up on what I said about Cloak and Dagger. Glad to hear it is still in development. Also I forgot about Runaways to; so maybe I shouldn't give up hope on New Warriors yet! I still though think that Marvel TV shows are a risky investment for a TV network though; the special effects used in them make them far more expensive than the run of the mill Dramas/Reality Shows that channels such as ABC normally run. If they green-light a Marvel show, they want the developers to prove that it will make them more money than they put into it. I think Agents of SHIELD has been successful enough to last all these years, but its dwindling viewers makes me fear it is reaching the end of its life (strange because most critics are giving the current crop of Agents episodes far higher reviews than their more widely viewed episodes in the first seasons). Something though about Agent's viewers, is that more of them are just DVR recording the show instead of watching when it first airs (with the lucrative commercials) which contributes to why they report lower viewers. I know my family runs Agents on the DVR, so I guess we are part of the problem! Again, maybe Agents would fare better on Netflix, just as long as it keeps its TV-14 rating so it could be syndicated to Freeform or SyFy later on down the road.
  2. I thought a MCU take on Captain Britain was done already in the First Avenger and Peggy Carter as part of the Howling Commandos? Last I heard, Squirrel Girl (along with Ms. Marvel) were being reserved for a T.V. show on Freeform (formerly known as ABC Family). The New Warriors or something like that (?). Seeing how rocky though Marvel's live action shows on TV have been lately (Peggy Carter cancelled, Most Wanted cancelled before release, Cloack and Dagger on hold, and reports that Agents of SHIELD is lowering in viewership...) I fear that any new Marvel show on TV has a lot to prove before it even airs. Of course if Agents and this New Warriors (?) were transferred to Netflix, but retained their TV-14 rating I think they could still be a hit, and furthermore could eventually be syndicated back to a network TV station.
  3. I do have an account on the ULUG forums but I don't visit it really. I want to join officially someday; but being in college means the cost of building a portion of a Lego train layout is still rather prohibitive even with the LUG discounts. I am already spending way to much on official sets, that is why most of my serious MOCs are done in LDD so they can be done for free and the design can be saved for future building once I am done with school. To be honest to, I think if I were to join any train club right now it would be the NMRA since I have played with Lego bricks my whole life and really want to learn something 'different' such as HO modeling (not to say I am abandoning the Lego hobby, of course not! Just that I want to try that HO thing first since I have never done it. Eventually my goal is after I finally build my first HO layout, to then focus on a medium sized Lego layout before going onto a bigger HO layout). Yet I have plenty of ideas of things I want to do when I finally join a LUG, so I have an incentive to do it someday! Of course with what I just said, I find it funny that some of the more "old school model railroaders" still view Lego as a strange addition to the rail hobby... Especially in my case as I think having grown up in Lego since I was a little kid is part of what made me interested in building stuff thus leading me to the HO hobby; and now some of the hobby press I read about for HO stuff inspires ideas for future things I can do in Lego. Go figure!
  4. I'll see if I can. I'm not very skilled at resizing photos though. I'll ask the creator of the MOC if he has shared it to Flickr or Brickshelf. EDIT: He sent me a link to his Instagram page, link is in the original post now.
  5. First off, I feel sorry I don't have pictures of it to share right now, but today I saw something really cool on Facebook. A Lego MOC of an UP SD70ACe built by Mathew Pratt (aka Tony Stark on Facebook) was entered into a model contest at the Intermountain Train Expo in Salt Lake City, Utah. It seems this contact was against traditional HO, N, and O scale models. Due to the fact though the Lego model was %100 scratch built compared to its 'scale' cousins it was able to beat them out winning both first place in the locomotive and rolling stock competition, and it took home the award in best in show! I think this is a spectacular thing for Lego modelers. If you want to go check it out, Matt posted photos of the model to the Facebook group 'Utah Rail Modelers .' I don't know if he has a Flickr or Brickshelf page, so that Facebook page is the only place I know it's on. EDIT: I found his Instagram page with photos of the model and the award: https://www.instagram.com/mpratt465/
  6. And to be honest the Lego Western Theme could be considered on an even worse hiatus than those two examples with no non-licensed western sets since the revised version of Fort Legorado was released in the early 2000's... Yet the few random licensed stuff in the interim (Lego Movie, Toy Story, Lone Ranger) have kept some of it on the market. I know have come across as rather critical about the Classic Castle vs. Nexo Knights debates in previous comments before; but I still stand by the idea that Nexo Knights is aimed for kids, and AFOL's are overthinking this and taking it way to seriously. Lego produced a more 'classic' castle theme for nearly three years with LoTR. Nexo Knights probably will last just about three years itself. So in theory a more classic historical theme could show up by 2019. And what if Nexo becomes evergreen? I think we can take Star Wars as an example; while Lego's in house space themes were cancelled when Star Wars arrived, after a few years they were brought back and allowed to run side by side at the same time. In theory maybe Nexo could someday run side by side with a Classic Castle theme.
  7. Yes this is a beautiful MOC. It seems like it would be a lot more reasonable to build to on a bit lower budget than a true Minifigure scale set. I love it, and if there is ever a reverse engineered set of instructions I would love to try and build it someday!
  8. That's pretty funny. I didn't get Lego trains or HO trains until I was into my teenage years, but I remember when I showed my collection to my younger cousin's they kept asking "Why aren't you running it as fast as it can go and crashing it?" While I think a Lego train would have survived such a derailment (I have made a few on accident); I imagine my expensive Athearn HO Switch engine getting the same crash test and I cringe!
  9. I caught up with Agents of Shield last night on DVR; and I am waiting for the chance to see Doctor Strange soon. All I need to say about the latest episode of Agents for now is; Johnny (Freak'n) Blaze. Also a Facebook memory came up today showing that a year ago was the day I realized Benedict Cumberbatch would be Doctor Strange; what good timing!
  10. Rush: Time Stand Still
  11. The Nui Rama are appealing due to their low cost; and those trans blue Ruru masks! Definitely something on my mind. Also speaking of the need for new electronics for my Manas; I noticed most Mana motor casings go for $1.00-$3.50 on Bricklink. Rather cheap I think; but I worry they will suffer from the same issues as the ones I have. Might be something though I will consider, because if I could score two good motors for a total of $8.00; that could be all I need to properly restore the Manas.
  12. I'd recommend building something up around the tunnel to give it a reason for existence; as in a nice mountain or some urban structures such as a highway overpass. That would help give credence to the model.
  13. With G2 now at an end, my mind is beginning to shift towards viewing Bionicle in a more nostalgic light. With that I have began to notice the listings on Bricklink and other online stores for the old 2001 Rahi sets. I thought the Rahi were perfect introductions to Technic building, and helped bridge the gap between the simple Bionicle Toa designs, with that of the complex Technic vehicles. While I am low on funds right now, I am considering that when I have the opportunity I should collect the Rahi sets from 2001 to make a complete collection. The only classic Rahi I own are the Nui-Jaga and the Manas (with only my purple Nui-Jaga being built right now and the other three figures scattered in the parts bin). Heck maybe I could use the opportunity to get the McTohunga I lack and also get the 2015 sets I lack to create some collection showcasing the first years of both generations or something like that... With that said, I have a few questions: What Rahi do you recommend buying first? Do you think the current Bricklink prices will remain steady for the next few years to allow me time to amass the collection? Is it worth trying to also Bricklink the parts for the Sand Tarakava and the 2002 Master Builder's set? And the big one, the motors on my two Manas came to me about dead. Is there any way to replace them, or rewire them? If you have by chance seen my Brickset review of the Manas you know I hated those motors (http://brickset.com/reviews/49470),and I don't want to make an effort to rebuild them if their primary function is just a dead weight. The controllers were pretty bad to...
  14. I'm sure %90 of you are sick of hearing Snoke theories, but I just had a fun one that I came up with that I want to share. Don't take it to seriously, but it has some merits: Snoke could be Palpatine's secret child. My ideas with that: Born aprox. 30 years BBY. Learned of the Dark Side from his father, but never chosen to be a Sith leading to great resentment. As such once he fully delved into the darkside he refused the title of Sith. Able to claim himself as the true Heir to the Emperor to form the First Order. Its kind off a silly idea, but it is at least more likely than say Snoke=Mace Windu theories some people are trying to churn out!
  15. Spoiler alert, that Jedi was actually a villain...
  16. I had that set as a kid. My gosh, people blatantly ripping of Lego's own designs!
  17. On my Xbox One: Halo 5, Halo Master Chief Collection, Minecraft, Forza Horizon, and Star Trek Online. On PC: Railnation, Train Simulator, Star Wars Empire at War, MNOG, and Cities Skylines On Phone: Marvel Future Fight, Ticket to Ride I also have a lot of Xbox and Xbox 360 games, but I won't list those here :P
  18. Yeah I did go back and watch it. It was so-so; but a bit over the top with its environmentalism feeling like a cliched story we have heard thousands of times. Seriously I have heard nobody talking about "Save the Whales" since 1999...
  19. Yes since ME Model track is assembled via individual rails and ties, it is a lot less durable than factory standard Lego track. The only Lego City "all in one" kit train I own is 60052, the Blue Freight train (the rest of my trains are Creator Expert models). 60052 has some playability features such as a nice cargo crane set up. Lego freight trains are good if your kid wants to load and unload stuff from the train. The Lego passenger train kits are usually more simple than the Freight ones, but offer the play option of having "passengers" ride the train.
  20. Um, with the new rules on clone brand discussions on Eurobricks, you probably just necrmanced this thread just so the mods will come and lock it. Mentioning clone brands who copy Lego designs is against site rules now. :P If you want to discuss original designs made by competitor themes, they will let you do that in the Community thread.
  21. My thoughts on Agents of Shield from last night:
  22. Its a pity all the Summer 2016 sets are only in retail at Toys R Us. I bought Ekimu the Mask Maker today; but TRU charged me the price tag of Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder. I thought at first it was a tax mark up figuring Ekimu was maybe being sold there for $20; but once I checked the TRU website I saw that Ekimu is definitely supposed to be $15. I had to drive back down to the store, and request for some of the money back. It was frustrating, but I talked calmly with the store workers and they did set things straight and they got me my money back. Still it makes me hesitate to shop for Bionicle or any other Lego theme at TRU in the future.
  23. First the Disney Castle should be on shelves for another three years at least... Asking about sets for investing is a rather controversial subject in the Lego fan community right now to be honest. The fact some old sets are now going for triple their original cost on eBay or Bricklink shows that demand is high, product availability is low, and some people are happy to scalp their sets for a very ludicrous price. Still; even investing in a large D2C set could honestly earn you an increase of value of about $50 or more without jacking the price as a scalper. However some sets never go up in value, and some even lose value. A quick visit to Bricklink will reveal most $10-$50 sets that aren't connected to a pop culture license, are still at or below their original cost.
  24. We will have to wait and see. I know Lego gave us a pretty good debriefing about when the first Bionicle ended; but then again that was a theme that lasted nearly ten years... Still I like the optimistic reminder that G2 isn't quite off store shelves yet. (Although those TRU mark ups are nasty...)
