  1. As you may have guessed by now, this is my first entry for the Rebrick Makuta Contest. My Makuta build itself was feeling a little "typical" with its small Toa size, simple build, and typical Makuta colors. To rectify this though, I had the vision of giving Makuta a vehicle of some sort, and he ended up with a Chariot that cobbled together a multitude of G1 and Technic pieces. Including a few G1 pieces alongside the CCBS parts was one of my building goals. I also built my first proper photo set up for the contest to get proper pictures. Unfortunately even then my build was to big to get a horizontal angled shot with a proper full white backdrop... I am considering a few more entries for the contest, but I fear that going bigger will just ruin my chance to use the photo booth I just barely built! Yes as I said before, my Makuta is actually just Toa sized, sharing a lot with the 2015 Toa. I like his look, but he doesn't seem as 'flashy' as some of the other contest entries. His reserved design though was intentionally done though to make him look like a "What Could have Been" Makuta retail set. Can you spot the G1 pieces? I am digging the ease of posebility in the smaller figure though! Try doing this with your monster sized titan! While the Skullie is a little cliche, I am in love with the greebled garbled look of the chariot. The Old G1 pieces really help create an 'underworld' look that I don't know if it could be achieved as easily with CCBS. For the most part this MOC is actually a combiner model, using pieces from Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder, Umarak the Hunter, Onua Master of Earth, Pohatu Master of Stone, Skull Warrior, and the classic Vezon and Fenrahk. The wheels and plates on the chariot come from a Technic Off Road Crawler, and the G1 Manas set. You might notice I am using a hidden leg to support the chariot rather than place pressure on the wheels. The wheels can hold the model, but for static display I prefer to use the 'kickstand' leg. The chariot also has some spots to mount G2 masks on it, as if Makuta is hauling away the masks of his victims... I hope you enjoyed my entry. I am highly considering a few more Makuta builds so time will tell if I end up having quite the 'Makuta Club' to enter this contest! Thanks for looking! 2. This is great! This is how I wish the real set was like!
  3. Oh good your talking about the Lego model! I was a little concerned thinking you were talking about the real DDA40X!
  4. Bricklink has a nice supply of cheap sets still. But yeah with tax Lava Beast at TRU came to be $18; ouch!
  5. With all the lamentation over the lack of a Mask of Ultimate Power, I wonder if a future Constraction line could release it as a generic villain mask? Kind of similar to how Von Nebula used a recolored G1 mask.
  6. Just bought Lava Beast. I really am liking him! I wish they weren't such a lame villain in JtO, but as a set he is a blast. With the official end of G2, I hope to get the whole Bionicle range from these last two years. I don't have a lot of 2016 sets, but I hope I can play catch up over the coming months.
  7. Wow! Spectacular 3D image work. Makes me appreciate your LUG meeting even more.
  8. It's not an official Lego 3D print, but I think the fan version is pretty spot on. I want to order one! http://www.shapeways.com/product/EYS9XLFMA/bionicle-mask-of-ultimate-power?optionId=60415977
  9. Simply put, yes. Lego wants to make a profit, they aren't running a charity. Lego has axed games, products, and themes before despite having a large fan following if they can't sell enough product. Just look at what happened to Bionicle the other day, Lego knows there are lots of fans of that theme, but it wasn't making the money they wanted. They didn't wait to see if somehow the fans could magically save it, instead they cut their losses and dropped the theme. A lot of fans are angry still, but Lego needs to focus on what makes them money if they want to survive as a business. In the early 2000's Lego went nearly bankrupt because they weren't cutting their losses and being wise in business. I don't want them to sink their business, just to serve a few fans. Lego won't bring back a money-losing game such as Lego Universe, unless they have a new idea to make it profitable.
  10. Chris Faber uploaded a beautiful tribute photo yesterday: http://faberfiles.blogspot.com/2016/07/strange-sunset-on-turaga-beach-tonight.html?m=1
  11. Not exactly poetry, but the report I sent to the MODs over a Testosterone Supplement spam that showed up in the Action Figures thread: "Spam trying to strike us at our funeral dirge for Bionicle! Be gone Spam, and let us mourn in peace!" I mean sheesh, trying to Spam a community in mourning. Now that is LOW!
  12. Christian Faber's blog has lots of stuff on development of "Doo Heads" and how he turned it into Bionicle. His blog also shows lots of early Lego Star Wars stuff.
  13. I know this is to soon to ask, but what are the odds the Bionicle sets will go up in price on Bricklink now that the theme has been cancelled? Now that G2 is over I am hoping to round out the collection, but if Bricklink prices rise I worry I won't be able to finish the collection. :(
  14. I thought he looked gold and blue but I wasn't paying to much attention by then, more focused on processing that it was "the end" again.
  15. I had my suspicions. If it's real we would need a link directly to the tweet, not just an easily photoshoped image.
  16. So while G2 finished the main story arch in JtO; there are a lot of loose ends that I think are worth note. JtO spoilers ahead:
  17. I congratulate you that you remained quite on it for two months. If I had know what you did then, it would have been hard not to have revealed it to the community. I am glad to hear that Lego views the digital fans (for all their themes I presume) as their best media representatives. Glad to hear the art books will be digitized for BS01. While I would have loved a hard copy, the digital format will suffice.
  18. I was surprised and shocked to see the announcement on Facebook only a few minutes ago. Yet with all the fan speculation that had happened recently I gotta admit I had a hunch it might have been coming. G2 did in many ways reignite a childhood interest of mine. Although the story was imperfect, the new set designs gave me some great building experiences. Just seeing the six Toa Mata in new forms and back on toy shelves for a brief was a blast. The fact Lego took their time to announce this official to the fan community is high form. Many Lego themes don't get the honor of an officially announced discontinuation. Even if Bionicle's fanbase was small, it is nice to know Lego did recognize it. With Bionicle gone, I will be returning focus back on Lego Trains, Creator Exclusive sets, Marvel Superheroes, and Star Wars. I hope that as my financial situation becomes more stable I might have the opportunity to continue MOCcing my vision of where Bionicle G2 should have gone had it continued. It will take some time to fully compose my thoughts on the matter, but I hope to post again later.
  19. I won't say to much about my model yet. Waiting for the contest to officially start to photograph it and reveal it.
  20. Funny watching him at the Lego Comic Con Booth. People were simultaneously entertained and disgusted by him! :D
  21. Strip it down to its base plates leaving just tan plates and it's a %100 recreation of the current construction site in Anaheim! :) It's a really good MOC. The finished land will hopefully inspire many more Lego creations.
  22. I was running it of my Android device on AT&T's network. My Wi-Fi was down; but I have accessed Eurobricks many times before via the AT&T network so it was really weird. Plus the whole thing about the "can't access this community" statement made me worry I might have been banned for no apparent reason. That was a weird feeling.
  23. Earlier today I was locked out of Eurobricks by a #2000 error saying "You do not have permission to access this community." I was worried a bit I had been booted from the site or something, but it came back up later today. Did a slow connection speed cause EB to lock me out? Or was it having server issues this morning?
  24. Just watched Jang's NCC-1701 review. The missing bag of pieces and the smudged Spock face makes me still worry about Megablocks quality. With that said seeing the finished model; WOW! As a die-hard Lego fan, I would not be ashamed to own such a beautiful Megablocks set. Also all the printed pieces, last time Lego did that many prints was the boiler for the Emerald Night... They look very good. If it wasn't for the obvious QC issues I'd love to get it. Even then it looks like MB has good enough customer service I could easily get replacement parts.
  25. I've seen a few GE T4 units, but I haven't seen a SD70ACe-T4 yet. I heard they sound very quiet.
