Thanks. I guess it is still to soon for any of the designers to spill the beans on why the line was cancelled; we might hear that from them in over 10 years or so once at least one of them retires from Lego. As of now, I doubt they will blabber about to much about. Heck, even Christian Faber still seems to be very cautious about what behind the scenes stuff he spills, despite the fact he is a third party worker who only worked for Lego when they hired Advanced to help them on projects... We might never get an official reason as to why Bionicle was canceled then.

True that probably is a slow moving station, but it can jump into hyperspace at least? In hind sight, Tarkin should have ordered for an escort fleet of Star Destroyers, cruisers, and fighters before attacking the base of the group that has stolen and dissected the blueprints to your station...
-
Considering how much energy and heat the station reactor produces, I always thought just ONE exhaust port was very strange. There should be like, 50 of those things logically speaking. The fact the Empire designed it with the absolute minimum number of ports makes me think they knew it was a small risk, and that they were taking some precautions. That one Imperial Officer in a New Hope seemed to know very quickly how to tell Tarkin that there was an actual danger, and retreat might have been necessary. In fact, it was the hubris of Tarkin that destroyed the Death Star; had he just pulled off the attack he could have saved the station, and returned to attack the rebel base once they had assembled a sufficient fighter and carrier escort to stave off a few X-Wing sorties.

I love it. He looks small, mean, and ready for action!

Its funny, I just realized when I binge watched the Season 2 discs, I somehow completely skipped the episode involving the Space Whales! And since @Oky wrote such a rough review of the episode in the Eurobrick's Blog; I am not dying to rush and see it. Wish I had noticed it when I was watching them for the first time through; now it just feels like doing Star Wars "homework." Well I guess if I want some Space Whales I should go and watch Star Trek IV instead!

FEC Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Awareness GP40-2 #425
xboxtravis7992 replied to brickbuilder711's topic in LEGO Train Tech
When I saw the words "Susan G. Komen" on here I thought you were talking about that other locomotive I waited to see in freezing cold temperatures once (UP 7400). This engine looks like it works in a lot warmer climate! -
Last night I was able to visit my parents and watch the latest episode of Agents of Shield with them; here are a few of my thoughts:

Look at this Brickset article. Looks like the new issue or Blocks magazine interviewed Bionicle designers about the end of the theme. I wonder what insight they providing the article? http://brickset.com/article/24101/blocks-issue-25-out-now

I finally buckled down and bought the Season 2 DVD a few days ago; and spent all my time binge watching the season in these last few days. Oh my gosh! Like I knew from reading all the posts you guys had made, and from the few episodes I had seen that the series was going to brilliant; but I wasn't aware it was that brilliant. The characters were all very good, I like how the series focused on a core group of people who I came to care about. The sound design was brilliant; it had all the classic 1970-esque Star Wars sounds, with a music track that gave us new renditions of the classic John Williams work, plus new songs. On a nerdier side note, the amount of Legends stuff that Rebels is re-canonizing again is sure insanity. In the old Legends canon I thought things such as Malacore, Quasar Fire Cruisers, and RX-Pilot droids would have been mentioned once or twice, to never appear again. But Rebels is bringing back so many of those obscure elements, and throwing them in front and center. I am excited to catch up to Season 3. I might have to stop reading this thread for a while, at least until Season 3 finishes so I don't read any spoilers. My only regret watching Season 2 is that I knew beforehand how it ended; and with the new story involving Thrawn it is time for me to bug out; and wait patiently for my chance to finally catch up with the series. Until then though, I might spend some time hunting for those Season 1 discs!

Let this be a lesson for Warner Brothers, adapting successful comics doesn't happen in a few films; but instead over a saga which makes us care about our characters with every new instalment. :) Enough of me teasing the DCU... Glad to hear Dr. Strange is getting a good reaction. Guardians 2 looks fun, but the trailer looked "more of the same" to me, which isn't a bad thing.

Yes I was a bit surprised to, but Jim provided the voice of reason we so desperately needed! Besides, once upon a time Bionicle was a Technic subtheme!
-
What I like about these is that the lines of several real life locomotives are easily visible in them. The first one looks like a sportier take of a GP9. The second, has the cab of a GG1. The third has the nose of an A1 Mallard. The iconography of those classic designs gives these locomotive a grounded appearance, which serves as the spring board for the futuristic ideas they present. Job well done!

[MOC] Alliance dreadnaught cruiser Stolen Gold
xboxtravis7992 replied to ProvenceTristram's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Actually the fact Disney smashed the old canon makes me think the Dreadnaught could return as part of some comic, novel or part of Rebels. The last time the Dreadnaught appeared was in Outbound Flight which was a Thrawn prequel novel by Timothy Zahn. And lo and behold we are soon due to get a new Thrawn novel from Timothy Zahn! Wouldn't surprise me if Zahn modifies the Outbound Flight origin story to somehow to fit the new Canon, re-introducing the Dreadnaught with it. Enough ranting, this is a beautiful Lego rendition of an oft forgotten ship. Very well done! -

Discussion: LEGO Bionicle Makuta Contest
xboxtravis7992 replied to Toa Palpo's topic in LEGO Action Figures
All the winners have been announced. They all look beautiful! Makes my creation look very half baked. Hope someone shows us what was in those artbooks. -
Such an impressive set! The dentist, the baby, the saxophone and Chihuahua! The mini Café Corner box! So much to love about it. Probably will cost $200 though.
-
If it is a POTC set, I wonder if there is a slight chance it will also relate to the original Pirates of the Caribbean theme park ride in some way or another... That way it could both reference the movie coming out, and go together with the castle!! Okay maybe not... Can't blame me for dreaming though!

[MOC] Rebel U-wing from Rogue One
xboxtravis7992 replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I like how it looks like the official set, but smoother and more cleaned up visually. It really helps convey the sense this is a tough vessel, which could swallow a few TIE fighter shots, and spit it out again at the enemy! :) Very well done. -
Yes that was the main reason I don't think I supported the project. The vehicle from the show is furthermore based on a real vehicle, the C-17 Globemaster. Looking at the real life pictures of a C-17, a full scale minifig sized model would actual be about six feet long and six feet wide (about two meters by two meters). That is HUGE. So it could be B.S.'d a bit and shrunk a little bit to fit more proper Lego sets scale, but even a 3' by 3' model would be a massive Lego set. Anything smaller than 2'x2' with correct proportions would run the risk of having such a skinny fuselage that Lola wouldn't be able to fit inside it anymore. It wouldn't have any swooshability, and would need to be disassembled for transport as smaller segments. I think that issue is why the proportions of the Ideas model are so bizarre, I think the project creator, rather than address the proper scale decided to create a box with stub wings big enough to include Lola and the laboratory room, and pass it off as The Bus. The bizarre proportions frankly remind me of this toy my sister used to own, it doesn't really look good as a display item. I'm sorry but to be frank, this has a very slim chance of ever passing the review. I want The Bus in Lego form to, but it is a subject that deserves to be made as a large MOC, as it could never be properly captured in an official set.

You know there is something I have been thinking about. I am sure it has been thought of before, but if the Stormtroopers who killed Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru where searching for the Death Star plans, they were under Vader's command right? So is it possible Vader ordered the execution of his own Step-Brother and Sister In Law? It is a disturbing possibility. Of course it is also likely that the Stormtroopers where just operating under a scorched earth order, and had no idea the people they killed were some of Vader's relatives... Thoughts?

There are a lot of reasons this set might not be approved to be honest: 1. It is based on a licensed property. Lego has probably already considered the possibility of making sets based on Agents of Shield. The characters of the series showed up in a DLC for the Lego Avengers 2 game. Rumors suggest that next year we will be getting a Coulson and Lola set. If those rumors are true, then a large set based on The Bus would be a conflict of interest. An example of conflict of interest occurred early on in Lego Cuusoo days, when the Modular Western Town was dismissed due to its similarity to the upcoming Lone Ranger theme. The Bus would be considered to be conflicting with the Lola set. 2. The Bus hasn't actually featured in the show for two years. It was destroyed by the second season. Since then the main location of the show has been the former SSR base converted into a SHIELD hideout. The Zephyr airplane replaced The Bus. While I think The Bus is more iconic than The Zephyr in my opinion, it just hasn't been in the show for a while. Not to mention the show has smaller airplanes such as Quinjets that could be more easily made into set form. 3. The concept model is rather bizarrely proportioned. I want a Lego version of The Bus and have considered MOCcing it, but a true minifig scale model will need at least a three foot wide wingspan and a three foot long fuselage to be realistic compared to the scale of the previously released Quinjets. Its just to big to be made into an official set, unless it became some sort of UCS thing.

Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them Film Discussion
xboxtravis7992 replied to Robert8's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Yes I heard about that today. Considering we haven't even seen the first film yet, it seems strange that we have already been promised four more after it. And to be honest, I don't have a lot of excitement for Fantastic Beasts compared to the other Potter films, since it isn't related to any of the books I have no clue what to expect. I think the premise and setting looks good, but I don't know how this story will play out. -
Awesome! The gritty feel of a working Y-Wing is very well captured here. I like how you made it look so much like the studio model.
-
I just watched your clip and imagined that as X-Wings. OH MY GOSH AWESOME! I regret the fact I don't have access to Disney XD everytime I read this thread. I hope to buy the Season 1 and 2 DVD sets though soon and finally start catching up.
