LEGO Ninjago 2021
Peppermint_M replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yeah, 18 is the required age and maturity is encouraged. So the options are to sharpen up your posting or be checked by staff. -
Hi, I moved it off the main forum. Hope that helps

Dreaming of the next Eurobricks event
Peppermint_M replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I have no preference, Windsor is nearest and easiest, but everything costs equally for me one way or another. Who knows if I will be able to travel or go anywhere still! -
First MOC, Treasure ruins via a rope bridge

A great little MOC, very good for a first in so long. Thanks for sharing your creation and keep on building -
Hi all. Just going to have a chat with this fella. Here on EB, we do not delete accounts and as a private site in which you agreed that your posts are part of the forum content once published; we do not have to delete anything here, just like we can remove what we want to. Sure, we get rid of distasteful things and will remove anything rashly posted if you ask nicely by the user, but as a rule things are here to stay. I think there are some levels of court that can demand we remove data (Right to be Forgotten laws or court injunctions/super-injunctions) but those are very high up and people would have to go through a lot of lower level courts in their country. Hmm, I have a lot more approximate knowledge on that than I though! I have hidden the more distasteful content, so hope you all continue to enjoy the forum.

So much THIS @Erik Leppen I can build with my (much) younger brother and we fly through the steps, as a pair of life-long fans we have got to the point where we trouble-shoot each other's MOC problems and make suggestions to each other for abstract ideas/goals. If we both had the same set it would be a race to see who builds it faster. If I build with my sister (who is not even two years younger than me), chances are she will take longer. We used to play in a way that had me build everything and then we role-play a story together, sets or MOCs. She has gotten into buying her own LEGO and MOC making, in the last few years, but is still going to take longer with a set and also appreciate the easier steps.

Thank you for the kind comments. While it was a long time in the planning, I am glad I finally actually sat down and built it. It was satisfying to create something I put a lot of though into and while some sections were a challenge, the overall result is exactly what I was aiming to create. It had a good reception on display over Zoom and also on my Instagram. I just really do hope I can show it off in person one day, as too much gets lost when taking a photo. Considering it was a last minute addition, the shimmer tiles really do look nice on the snow and the camera can never capture the sparkle of a transparent-glitter element. Again, thanks all.

NPU with the helmet for a wash-basin! This has a very smart appearance, it would look at home on Savile Row for sure. Also, love that phone box, a very good representation of one. Thanks for sharing it on the forum

Uh, I mean the forum posts here on EB, If you deeplinked them then you can edit them out, if you have uploaded them in a post you made using the attachment feature staff need to delete them. I think something was changed when Invision updated software, but it means only staff can fully delete them.

Okay, thanks for ignoring the more cheerful post that garnered the grotty response and instead the return serve. Building experience: Instructions I encounter are fine, I do not drop hundreds of pounds on a single set, so I have not experienced building something like The ISS or another set that might require easier instructions for more casual builders. The City and Friends sets have instructions that are perfect for the age range they are aimed at. My purchases of other themes that are aimed at older age brackets are fine to build, however I am building a LEGO set for three reasons: I love LEGO, so I will be biased. I am learning a new technique used in the build, as some of the designs use some clever methods I have not arrived at myself. Finally, I build for Mindfulness, following any sort of instructions to construct something (LEGO, Nano-blocks, Paper/Card pop-out models) helps me generate a nice "white-noise" in my sometimes tumultuous thoughts. It helps prevent anxiety/panic attacks escalating or starting. So, instructions can tell me to pick out one stud and put it on one plate, and that would be a help to me. Mostly though: I am a Maker, I want to create something new from raw material that I have envisioned in my mind. I MOC, so all purchases of LEGO are with that in mind. I think the main problem with the forum is everyone wants to discuss things to death and complain instead of sharing and commenting on people's creations.

I'm sure if it comes back to me I'll post the link to the instructions and the pages, but for now it's all a jumble As such, it is simple conjecture and cannot be held as true or serious evidence. In fact, it becomes a ludicrous and heyperbolic statement. If you want to be grumpy about it. I can reply in kind.

The question begs: what set? The classic internet chestnut of "pics or it didn't happen" applies
-
Can you link the posts that you attached pictures to? Staff can delete attachments, but I have only ever gotten it to work from the original post.

Yea, I don't get it. Apart from the bit where they try and conflate clearly fantasy combat with real world military action. Star Wars is not a modern offensive. The conflict depicted is not the same as any sort of contemporary action or even those from modern history. Sure, there may be parallels but there are big differences to take into account also.

Or you can truly up the difficulty and design your own things and make a MOC instead of building a set with an instruction manual!

Ever build Medieval Market Village? Man, numbered bag would have helped there! I don't know what sets you are building, I have only noticed simplified steps in City, a theme that caters to younger builders. Then there is the art and "adult" sets. They are created to catch attention of the inexperienced builders and therefore need to be easier for the builder. After all, they have not spent the years building many AFOLs have. Case in point: Brother in Law is a LEGO fan, bought himself the Saturn V. Built it in an afternoon. His friend, a fan of space/NASA and all that, bought himself a Saturn V. Took more than a week, had to phone for help as he had missed parts in the instructions. One persons oversimplification is another's welcome help.

I have wanted to build an Ice Palace since the very first time I watched Frozen in the Cinema. For years I sketched and planned, figuring out what I wanted my version to look like, how big I wanted to build it, what I would need to create it. I have pages of sketches and ideas, files of research and pictures. Brickworld Virtual Holiday was the motivation that got me building. Knowing for a long time that I wanted to build my own Ice Palace, I started to gather parts as soon as Frozen sets arrived in shops. I have purchased two of the first version of Elsa's Ice palace, one copy of the second version of Elsa's Ice Palace and, what was a nice surprise, two copies of The LEGO Movie 2 Sparkle Shine Spa. These sets supplied the bulk of what parts I used in the creation of the Ice Palace. I made a special purchase of the doors and the two blue turret roof elements, as I certainly wanted to include them. Hopefully from these two side elevations, you can see the symmetry I wished to include. The principal I designed from is the 6 lines of symmetry that a Snowflake has. I forgave myself one line as there were not going to be two front doors and balconies in this build! The build also opens up to allow some play to the palace. The back of the palace is not as detailed as the front, I tried to make it interesting to see, mainly as the large number of transparent parts meant there was a chance to see so much of it. Things had to look pretty to fit into the build! Now for the interior. The staircase was important to put in for my idea, it did feature in the film and has not really looked right in any of the sets. I put in the chandelier too, of course. To dress things up and make it look nicer I popped some torches and furnishing in. Here are some close-ups of the stairs and chandelier. The chandelier uses five of the snowflake elements. Now, on to the North Mountain! Olaf and a snowgie are chilling with some snowman friends. Two of them are built from the original Olaf design, before a minifig version was created for the Frozen 2 sets. The snowman with the cool hair-do is a nod to the fact I used a lot of two Sparkle Shine Spa sets to create this palace! Anna, Kristoff and Sven are having fun in the snow. Of course you need all three to be around in a Frozen MOC! Marshmallow the snow golem is also my attempt at making a better scaled version than what came in a set. Essentially, I took the face off the official version from LEGO, and then built a nice tall body. The arms and legs are on cup/ball joint plates, the head and waist are jumper plates to allow swivel. I have put claws on the hand that is holding the snowgie, but as he can retract the icy claws, the other hand is bare. Finally, a better view of the bridge. I am glad I grabbed white flex tubes when I was in LEGOLand Germany! I want to improve the mountain plateau part of this build, mainly adding some height to the palace space so I can make the bridge closer to the film. It will also give me a chance to flex the tubes into a new shape: I might use the wire insert method, but I am also a fan of making a "jig" from techinc to put a curve into tubing. Who know, one day I will be able to display in person again and I will make some changes. As an extra note: Though the effect does not show in photos very well: I put the iridescent 1x1 round tiles around the snowy areas, in person it adds a sparkle/shimmer to the otherwise flat white space. Finally: A Link to the Flickr Album to see all the photos at any size. I hope you enjoy my MOC, I had a good time building it.

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Peppermint_M replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hi @a guy from somewhere. I can see that your Caps Lock and Shift key work, can you give proper capitalisation a try? New sentences start with an uppercase letter, so do names and "I". There is a general expectation of readable grammar and formatting here on EB, being from the UK, you should have experience with this. Or, it puts into question your age and that puts into question whether you are old enough to be a member of the forum. Just a little tip. On topic: UK prices are always a little different to US and certain continental territories. The US is an enormous market, many times larger than the UK, it can support the lower priced sets for TLG as they will sell enough units to make up for the slightly lower cost, then US buyers prices are not listed without tax as it varies from state to state, the box prices are never the price paid. Also, there is a much more competitive market in the US, so they have to price accordingly. LEGO is also a popular product in Germany, so the prices can be slightly less, more sell. You also have to remember the fact that UK VAT and other costs exist, not to mention what leaving the EU will do to all kinds of background costs and that is a knock on effect to UK prices. -
For part 1, when browsing the forum on you phone, if you press the part you want to quote within the body of text, it should provide a highlight tool and a little pop-out to "Quote this". Of course, this is what I find while using Chrome on my Android phone. 2. I don't think we have a specific tutorial for imgur. But I will take a look to see what to do... EDIT: Ok, so I found the image on imgur, followed the thumbnail to the main image page, copied the image link and pasted it here in the post.

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Well. Certain someone is abusing the report button. So I am going to lock it. -
I am trying to understand the question?

Ah, an excellent whirlybird. I am going to disagree about the studs, I like a LEGO MOC that still has some signs of being LEGO, total smoothness is for a model kit with glue All besides, it is a very good MOC of an impressive aircraft

Question about inspiration from other MOCs
Peppermint_M replied to Chrismo72's topic in Forum Information and Help
If you give the credit where it is due, then you are absolutely fine! It is very good of you to check and to desire to credit the other builder. I hope to see the build soon
