Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
Peppermint_M replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It was inevitable that a lot of votes would land on Bionicle. So many netziens are the age that thought of Bionicle as the super-de-duperist thing ever when they were kids. Then they outgrew it but did not continue as FOLs but now the nostalgia siren has got them voting. Not that they want to or will purchase a set. It is frustrating, I would love to have a new Adventurers set, but it looks like it will lose out to construction. A theme/building system that only accounts for a fraction of what TLG produced. -
Help with identifying parts/sets!
Peppermint_M replied to WhiteFang's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You are also able to "decode" it with a trans-red minifigure magnifying glass. It was a neat feature for a Spy theme. So you know: Flickr and Imgur are both pretty easy to link to EB, instagram used to work, but might not now... -
This is super weird and cool! This organism/creature is great, a real example of the random things we can make with LEGO. I am having a hard time choosing my favourite little eyeball grey-creature. Thanks for sharing it.

Help with identifying parts/sets!

Exactly what I would suggest! The upload space on EB is for an avatar, so it is advised to use an image host site for photos and then deeplink them here on the forum. -
I once again sketched out plans for future MOCs. As it is the 90th year of the LEGO company, I want to make a few celebratory MOCs. Which means I sketch out what I want to build and research parts. Got to say, this is a great thread idea.

Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
Peppermint_M replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Adventurers got my vote. I have no doubt something else will win, but I hope to be wrong in this situation. As for the other two? I went Rock Raiders for the long afternoons spent playing the game on PlayStation and Extreme Team because I loved the torso prints and flame helmets back in the day. -
Compatible brand baseplates are better value than the LEGO ones. Exactly the same quality, greater variety in size and colour.

LEGO Ninjago x HYPE.
Peppermint_M replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Red shirt with Jay? Odd choice! I hope there are more hats to choose from (Only had a quick browse of the promo, site wants a phone number...), I love a good hat. Plus, from my browse, there is a jacket that I think I have to get! Though my brother is likely going to be getting a lot more! Cheers for the content. Unboxing is a classic format -
Here I thought everyone could just drop in and have a bit of a rant. LEGO took the original plastic brick idea from another toy manufacturer and buried the truth for decades, only acknowledging the fact in an 80s lawsuit against Tyco and only presenting it in their history in recent memory. So yah, totally agree! Other brick companies exist and they are creating some great stuff.

AFOLs are not the target consumer for the majority of LEGO products. They need to realise that. Being a "true fan" of LEGO these days seems to require unrelenting negativity towards the product you claim to be a fan of. Nobody knows what they really want. When they get it, something will always be wrong. An aggrevatingly large percentage of the community is about collecting and not creating.

Shopping around in the few places still open during these times of Lockdown and "essentials only" shopping: Poundland is a place that is not locking away all the items, so in the toy section I went a-browsing and found some curious "Midi" Figures. They are the same size of the Flashlight Keyring figures, but are a bit more poseable. Combat Heroes Academy is the theme. Mystery is the one villian I found. According to the back of the box there are four to colelct. I found three. Bolt here looks rather a lot he is wearing an Agents uniform, Portal is most certainly not Quicksilver. Mystery and their accessories. The hammer looks like it could be perfect for a certain Ninja... From behind you can see they have a pretty cheap construction. The plastic is also "cheap" feeling but these are robust enough, I have not pulled them apart too much. Bolt here is all in pieces. Again, everything comes off like you would expect from a Minifig. There is a small cylinder on the hilt of the sword, this can come off but is necessary for the figure to hold it. From this view, you can see the hair part is pretty much the same as the original LEGO part, but scaled up. Portal has a Quicksilver vibe, maybe a hint of Iron Man. The axe is impossible to fit in the hand of the figure to keep in place. Oh yeah, I took this one after I switched the parts around a little on the figures, then realised that I had a really blurry first photo. He is supposed to have the blue hands but: You can mix and match as much as any minifig. So if they keep making these different characters and in different themes, it would still have some fun like standard figures. They are more poseable than a minifig, as an action figure they are fun to play about with; better than some of the higher price/quality mix and match products. I paid £1 for each of these, I am going to look out for the advertised 4th on the packet back, maybe see if there are some more themes. Yup, Cole looks good with some new kit. As you can see with the accessories in hand, the figures are a match to the flashlight keychains. For a pocket sized, pocket money toy, these are very cool. Soo, been a long while since I did a review for a weird clone brand. Hope it was amusing at least.

Depends on the theme or subject of the MOC, I have seen a lot of impressive MOCs barely noticed because they are obscure or not something multimedia related.

No worries, if you do come across any problems, feel free to ask.

Why isn't Bandai stepping in?
Peppermint_M replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Free sets with certain purchases would be my guess. Bandai has a lot of branded products beyond the toys, the promotions a lot of brands do with LEGO rarely match well. Back in the late 90s earlly 00s, I had a few very small sets that came promotionally with different products. We got about a Dozen of SubZero because they came free with purchases of frozen food by Birdseye and Walls, so the usual fishfingers we kids loved to eat had free LEGO! Also, randomly Stunt Flyer was packaged free with some snack or cookie/biscuit box as I recall convincing mum to get them on the strength of "We like those and it has LEGO" . -
Hi The image uploader is for an avatar on your profile, not to share MOC pics etc. Those need to be uploaded to image hosts and deeplinked into the forum. Either you have used up the original 100kb, or the reduction has been put in place to encourage people to use actual image hosts.

Uh, yeah? Seeing as on my laptop using Chrome, I haven't really got any trouble finding the top buttons. I was trying to find a cause for the issue, sometimes browsers or devices have stacked buttons from an error when loading the page. You neglected to mention that it was the banner image that was creating the issue for you. That is not one that I can solve, but I have brought up the graphics before, so eventually it should get fixed.

What are you browsing on? Mobile, tablet, computer? Also, what browser are you using?

I answered the question earlier, and someone else has helpfully explained how to access the BB code. I merged your threads.

Right click the image to get the menu, select copy image location. That link you have pasted is not the perma-link, so it will not embed correctly. To insert the photo like I did above, I copied the image location. https://i.imgur.com/nuKJ3Tx.jpeg So it pastes into the post and automatically becomes the deeplinked pic. A general rule of thumb: The URL has to end with an image extension (jpeg, png, bmp etc) to work.

Oof, I had to think @makoy! My 2020 bests are going to: Best Large Set I purchased: 60258: Tuning Workshop Everything I love in a LEGO set, cool cars, a motorbike and great minifigures. It was fun to build and had plenty of parts I like to use. Best Medium Set Purchase 70434: Supernatural Race Car Excellent Design, great part selection and a play feature that is not disruptive to the actual design of the vehicle. More sets like this please! Best Small Set Purchase 71718: Wu's Battle Dragon Super cool little dragon, very posable by also sturdy. Also one I was able to get with a gift-card I won in work, so that was neat. Best New Minifigure CMF series 20 Knight Excellent new sword, great new shield heraldry and livery design that looks accurate to the era. I am a sucker for new minifig shield prints and this is a great one. In fact, when I was a kid drawing my own knight shields, a raven often featured. Best New Animal: Bulldog Look at that cute little good boy! Best New Minifig Weapon Ninjago Ivory Sword of Deliverance It has a skull for the pommel. 'nuff said. Best New Minifig Accessory I love Green Lantern, my favourite superhero, from the Golden Age, the Silver Age and even now. To have an actual lantern is superb. I do not have any specific new 2020 element that has jumped out at me as the greatest of the year. Most of them are yet to filter into my MOC building supply, as the sets they came in are still assembled. Once those get parted out, that is when I discover the excellent new parts. Best MOC of 2020 I love and envy this in equal measure. Fully embracing the Fabuland style but with great MOC design and detailing. My proudest build: A little bit of shameless self promotion, a little bit of being genuinely proud of the result for my MOC. I wanted to build one for years and I finally created it this year. Of all the things I have built and published this year, this one is my absolute favourite. So that was my year in review. I don't like to judge sets I have not bought and as I am not a set collector, there are few sets I desire for reasons of display so I am not one to put sets up as "the best" in that regards.
