  1. The thread was merged here as the OP didn't present the build as a MOC and without any photos, it was simply an IDEA link promotion. Strangely, they did post a image of the MOC in this thread with a link also and then created the separate topic missing all the key components. The rules on the forum for an Ideas project are to showcase a MOC first and foremost, with a project link for those who may want to support it after/at the end. Thread titles requesting Ideas Project Support, or calling for votes fall foul of the rules. It was instated when Ideas launched, to prevent the forum just being a giant advert for Idea projects without the community interaction/engagement, just another stop on the socials tour. With the thread merged, I leave a link from the original location so people and the OP can find it again.
  2. I don't say Sheeps, so I don't say Legos. So is it all internet drama for clicks? Engagement pays the bills for all of the YouTube posse.
  3. 17 years later and uh... Oh man. Oh man oh man... I'm still here Gosh. So I still love Astro Boy and Robotech/Macross. I have a backlog of anime to watch and recently watched all 10 episodes of Haunted Hotel on Netflix. (It was funny, I liked it). I have been watching the Ranma 1/2 remake episodes and enjoying those. I liked Owl House, RWBY, Bee and Puppycat. Plenty of series have been and gone but I am glad EB is still here. So anyway: It is fun to see a thread I made so long ago still gets posts.
  4. How free are we talking about here lads? Testing the waters and checking out what people think is important to the future of the forum.
  5. Oh indeed. I will second Cloney.
  6. At least my age is below average! I was born in 1988, just too late for Fabuland (Mum was well miffed that there was none to get me when I was a tot) but I had Duplo from age 0! I personally think it is worse that I was moderating conversations on Power Miners and Series 1 CMF and now legit AFOLs are old enough to call that childhood LEGO!
  7. At least one of his Star Wars replica blasters has a LEGO lightsaber blade in the sight, I managed to source a lot of similar transparent flagpole/rod parts from my clone brand collection for him to use as spares. What is really handy is he has stock of a type of glue that is technically illegal now, if I ever need it
  8. LEGO is an emotive subject for people, "Innocence of Childhood" is represented by the toy and "Corruption of a wholesome subject" create all sorts of psychological reactions. Not to mention the guy was trying to get funding for Cancer treatment! (I mean, US Healthcare... You really have been chained to a Master: Capitalism. and my heart goes out to you.) The whole thing is very known now, so it is going to taint B and M, plus there is the risk as the story goes global and more commentators and influencers start to chime in, that LEGO will see it as a reputational damage to their brand. Say what you will about TLG, but they really do protect their image. I hope those wronged are helped, or at the very least the attention means the family involved can get the funds they need for healthcare.
  9. I had a lot of clone brick to play about with and use in other projects so I have done a lot of ABS mods over the years. Plus a minor obsession with Gunpla and Zoids. So I collected a lot of tips My sister and brother in law are pretty serious costumers too, so we trade "hacks".
  10. To finish it to a good smooth edge, use a fine grit emery paper, you can get them in hobby shops. Or a nail care kit that comes with a number of boards and buffers. For really fine finish, put a little basic toothpaste (no gel Stripe, literally just white toothpaste) on a cloth as its a really mild abrasive.
  11. Yes I am. I must admit, I only know any Spiderman characters from the 90s cartoons
  12. There is a new Speed Champion set coming out (Jaguar and Land Rover) and one of the figures has a handy looking sand green torso and dark tan cap and scarf.
  13. OK I have no idea what has happened here. I created this thread as a useful place to drop the One and Done members who land just to post barking up votes for their IDEAS project, the low to no effort threads posted to drum up support where the IDEAS bit is central and not the MOC part (Not those that simply share a link to vote if you like their MOC...) So, I would say most of this belongs in Unpopular Opinions. Anyway, I will carry on using this thread to drop the threads posted with SUPPORT MY IDEAS!!!1!! as a title.
  14. Why thank you. I do enjoy making them. I have some past ones on my Flickr (I hope the link works...)
  15. Tombstone in the new Spider-Man set has an excellent formal waistcoat torso. I will need that for an Adventurer, either an original character or a remix of a classic one.
  16. Exactly, they really managed to capture lightning in a bottle with Ninjago and other themes could run their two or three years and all was well. I don't know if it is Executive demands, the way the Toy Market is these days or a combination of the two that demands a brand to recognise within a brand; but there are no shorter but "successful" themes. Its like the City brand is now a tentpole over what would have been individual themes. Though Ninjago is not quite the same tent to allow a return of super spies or miners versus rock monsters... Yeah. As much as I like to get parts to rebuild/fuel a MOC the prices mean I am waiting for sales and clearance. Creator is still a good one at least, though a lot of my building and creativity is sliding over to Gunpla and Bandai's very cool 30 Minute Fantasy (dipping my toes into Diorama building too). As for a contest: I will start brainstorming on a contest. I have some thoughts on what I would like to present.
  17. I have a few inklings as to where things will go. I have a brother, 13 years younger than me who would most likely inherit as he was my little apprentice when he was small. He still buys and builds LEGO, he is also the most likely of my siblings to have kids (most of us are not really aiming for children, we have a more What will be will be attitude, he is quite enthused with the idea of being a dad). I think the bulk of my collection would be his to decide on. My youngest sister and her husband also like LEGO, so I imagine if their circumstances allow, they would likely want some things. I would like my sigfig to come with me or a minifig representation and it tickles me to envision my convention bricks and brick badge to be used as some sort of Memento Mori or other memorial piece. Depending on matter (not to be fatalistic) I can assume my Brother in Law who is near in age to myself might still be knocking around and will certainly strip out anything for his ever expanding Lord of the Rings dioramas
  18. So, I have not really seen anything new of late that would find a home here. My brother and I have been discussing the lack of incoming "big bang" themes and how everything seems to be a victim of Ninjago's success (not that I am knocking that, it is great that we have something so long lasting) so I guess we are all Watching This Space eh? Maybe I should figure out a contest to try coming up with new Action and Adventure theme?
  19. Alcea is a popular speederbike with Expedition crews and Explorers. A sturdy and reliable speeder that can run long range in relative comfort and manage whatever the weather can throw at it. A Dieselpunk style Speederbike, the second build from my self-imposed challenge of only working with the parts in the gifted boxes. I was in luck, there was some Pharoahs Quest sets in the box, so minifig parts that match my favourite aesthetic and some consistent dark red colour. I love dark red and dark bley for building.
  20. That is no problem, I appreciate the effort everyone else is able to make in order to arrange these events and would never want to take it for granted. I just know from my location I will not find any good deals!
  21. i have not booked anything yet, I was waiting on the accommodation location so i could see if Munich would be OK for me to fly to without having to divert Stefan to an airport for me. I can fly to Munich from Bristol, but Frankfurt is from Heathrow, so it is a pros and cons situation!
  22. It made things a fun exercise in creativity and connections. The collection seems to have ended with the first Lord of the Rings sets, so a number of elements I would use just aren't there, but plenty of useful parts made this and a few more builds possible. Really should be sorting though, my collection has gotten a little out of hand...
  23. 5AUS13, or "Saucy" to fans, is a racing speederbike piloted by ace racer Peel Carbine. Fast and nimble, the title this season is in sight! March arrives and like the new growth of nature, the urge to build a speederbike rises. Sure, the contest is defunct, but I love a speeder bike and I love to build. This one was a challenge to myself as it is only from parts available from some boxes of mixed LEGO I was gifted. My Mum's friend was getting her sons' old things sorted and wanted the LEGO to go to a good home. I am certainly a good home! I am actually supposed to be sorting it out into my collection (and pulling random marbles/game tokens/cars etc from the box) but I just had to build as I cam across parts. The base part is a mudguard and some SNOT brackets for the pilot seat and everything went on from there. When I ended up with the yellow and red colour scheme, the name Saucy popped into my head. It has been ages since I shared a MOC, but 2026 has been goodly creative for me so far!
  24. Those are really cool, a most excellent collection. Thanks for sharing.
  25. Looking forward to meeting up!
