  1. I use the plastic inserts from the advent calanders an IKEA wooden drawer set (might get a second or third) and lots and lots of screw sorter boxes. I have gashapon eggs (the plastic two part eggs and deformed spheres that anime figures come in from dispensers) and tic tac boxes too. All of them have been used to store parts. The pods that old creator sets came in (I had two) have also been pressed into use, unless I need one in a MOC. I have lots of other odd containers to use too.
  2. Technicaly Star Wars is ripping off Doctor Who, after all it started at decades before Star Wars was in the cinema, nay, even before Star Wars started filming... Tee hee. I wonder how hard it'd be to modify the giant Death Star into the Crucible?
  3. After my very early MOCs, more planes followed. I graduated to a more streamlined "jet" shape, half remembered from pictures of fighter jets and such in books. I made a fleet of them with names taken from the birds I thought were best. My first space ship I made was called Andromeda, sadly I lost the photo of that. That was the first MOC I posted online (I think. It's certainly the "oldest" MOC I have a photo of.) It's still sat in a drawer of MOCs I haven't dismantled yet.
  4. Try a hooked pin to pull them out, or a darning needle.
  5. This has been a problem for me many times.... The best thing you can try is to get a thick needle or pin and push it through the small hole in the centre of the base. A pin nail (one of the little ones) could also work. You have to use a thick pin/needle or else it will bend. It worked for me hope it works for you. (minor grammer edit)
  6. Oh noes. An SF which had a planet destroying lazer! Good grief, my personal TK (carded member of the 501st) didn't make any fuss (in fact i think the quote was "Squeee!") when we saw it in the summer. Hmm, it was big and round, but with extras on the outside... In fact the Doctor Who wiki sayeth "the Crucible resembles the Death Star from Star Wars in size and shape." Yes, it probably was inspired by the Death Star, one has to remember that SF is forever borrowing from each other. Whats wrong with Daleks efficiently using the design? (after all, it took three Time Lords to beat it, not one rookie in a space ship and a lucky shot) Ho hum, around about now people should note that of all the SF out there Star Wars is an also-ran in my list.
  7. Peppermint is my favourite sweet, flavouring and scent. the M is for Minty or Mecha, mecha is the genre of anime I am most fond of and Minty is the nickname my friend gave me due to my hard to shorten name and lack of words that rhym with my name. It came from my love of mints and the fact that my screen name on most websites involves mints somewhere.
  8. (Click for Bigger image and more images. On my MOC pages) So many post-apocalego seems to focus on the humans, the fighting and the rebuilding. This MOC is for the forgotten. A story for the robot is written on the MOC page, please read it and you'll understand the MOC. Thank you for your time.
  9. In the MkII then, I have plenty of cool torsos to try. That was simply a direct LEGO-fication of the line drawing.
  10. My latest creation. (thumbnail, click through for a larger image and more images. =D) Inspired by Kris Straub's webcomic of the same name. This is the strip which featured the original chainsawsuit.
  11. Well the "real" Planet Zi is mainly desert... However my loft (where my LEGO was sent when my room was downsized) has no heating or insulation on the roof. The ceilings have insulation, so very little heat gets in. After about an hour you can feel the cold biting and you can't feel your toes and fingers. Spring and Autumn are the best times as Summer is stiflingly hot and Winter is numbingly cold. Other pet peeves: "legos", stupid people who blindly believe what the papers tell them ("Oh, did you hear that LEGO are making terrorist sets now?" actually heard said in all sincerity...)
  12. When it gets so cold in your build area that you can't feel the bricks properly (numb fingers).
  13. OK, when I was younger and my LEGO lived in my room I built with my sister, we'd make town plans and roleplay little stories. I would sometimes have a building contest with my other brother and his friend (to prove it isn't just the parts that make the MOC) and have castle battles with LEGO built seige weapons. But as I said in my earlier post I mostly build on my own. Once in a while I build with my little brother (He is a fantastic builder) or my friend and sister come in the loft and play with my minifigs while I build.
  14. You want Disney LEGO? The only thing that Mega Blox ever had that I wanted (now I have the money for LEGO) was Gundam, and I've not heard a thing about any sets since I heard the rumour that MB had mecha to compete with Exoforce. Like I said, there is worse out there, and I still use the skateboards, ramps and rather nice looking steel girder supports I had from an old skate park set I bought about six years ago. The baseplates that came with it are usefull too. If you don't like it, don't buy it. LEGO lost the court case for copyright on the functional design of the brick last month. The tried to sue and failed as this article states Here.
  15. My first MOCs were built in school at age 5, to the envy of all the boys :P. I made a jet (it was very blocky) called The Crow, as it was all black with a yellow slope/invert for the beak and a clear brick for the eyes. I should really rebuild it at some point. Another was a massive bi-plane from duplo. Alas no pictures survive.
  16. I once found some Adventurers sets in a Pound Store. so i bought about six. =D
  17. I build alone, or as alone as possible (sometimes my 7yo sib hangs around watching) its my de-stress method, so I prefer the peace and quite of solo building.
  18. In no particular order: Placebo Muse Smashing Pumpkins Queen Depeche Mode Electric Light Orchestra Trapnest Rammstein Linkin Park Nightwish (the old lineup) Within Temptation Evanescence Avantasia I also like a few random tracks from other bands, but not enough to say I like the band.
  19. I use it for filler. Like one uses old paper when packing away MOCs to be moved around in boxes. You think Megablox are bad? I found something in a Pound Shop that is worse. :P I also use megablox as mod-fodder, so as not to use high quality LEGO bricks for cutting.
  20. Well, I'm from Wales and my favourite theme is Adventurers, but Alpha Team (before Cam disappeared) and Rock Raiders are close seconds. I really don't like the LEGO Star Wars theme since it went flesh tone and the fact that 75% of the fan community I come across are super Star Wars centric. My favourite MOC themes are Steampunk, Dieselpunk and SF style mecha and space fighter ships. Things from anime and such are also my MOC themes when I want to build to a strict specification. I'm currently studying on a day realease basis to be a civil engineer. *End Communication* =D
  21. I think the Gods of Rock was one of the funniest, it's always interesting to see what music people like and all the minifig representations of the greats were well chosen.
  22. Hello, I'm new (fancy, after all this is my first post in the introductions page...) I have been playing with Lego for more than half my life and I spend more on Lego than I do on anything else. (Apart from books...maybe) I have an account on MOC pages under the same name. This is my first attempt at being a member of any LUG. That is all. Thank you for reading.
