Love those. But my favourite brand is rather colourful https://pin.it/7Fr2NFt

I love the cap. Though, anyone who has met me knows that I love headgear. Also, I was planning on putting Mayka tape on one of my jackets. Style is very personal! I just want some LEGO Hi-tops, my favourite footwear.

Has the LEGO group released too much 18+ sets this year?
Peppermint_M replied to JintaiZ's topic in General LEGO Discussion
2015 I have been a Moderator longer than that!! It is bad enough that my little brother who was my building buddy from 5 is now 19 and old enough to use the forum... The thing is, enjoyment is subjective. I have an epic time at a Metal gig full of fellow fans. I can easily say that would be a horrible evening for many others. Likewise, I cannot stand watching Cricket. I know plenty of people who would say it is a perfect pastime. -
Has the LEGO group released too much 18+ sets this year?
Peppermint_M replied to JintaiZ's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I take it you are either an only child or the youngest then. I was hero of the day for building big Duplo towers for knocking down, castle walls to sit behind and any number of other creations for three youngest siblings. All while I was a teenager. Not to mention that I was in my 20s playing Duplo with my friends children. Or the crashable "cars" for my baby cousin. -
An excellent rendering of the invaders, I look forward to seeing the finished build. Thanks for sharing.

Do you need the older than dirt tag? I have some old and some new parts with sprue marks, it just depends on where in the mould your part was created. The problem you might find is the Baader-Meinhof Syndrome , you notice one and all of a sudden you see it everywhere. It always has been, but now you are paying more attention from noticing it once before, you see it more often. What I want is more Coin and Shuriken sprues, they are actually useful!

And that is why it is an opinion and not a fact. I have fond memories of playing Duplo with my younger siblings (they are 10 years and more younger than me), my baby cousin and with my friends children. Plenty more play-ability than a lot of sets out today. If we get right down to it, any LEGO set has reduced play due to the constraints the object you build has. If you set a massive pile of parts out you could play anything at all. If you build a police car set, the game is going to have to involve a car. -
I think I said it in another thread: People Like Neat Stuff. Sure, I don't get the obsession with having every single one of the minifigures out there, but I can see the appeal of collecting minifigures of the thing(s) you like. Like DC Superheroes? Collect those minifigs. Marvel? Star Wars? Harry Potter? Fun to do, harms no one. If you decide to pay £70 for a specific Batman figure, I won't judge. But I would prefer to spend the £70 on a LEGO Set myself. CMFs are brilliant though. The variety of themes represented, the selection of parts that create the figure (New swords, shield prints, animals and hair pieces!) the excellent extra supply of new expressions both male and female. Let me tell you, as someone who only had two "girls" in her whole LEGO collection growing up: It is excellent to have more figures at a lower price point. However, again, I am not collecting then per se, I am supplying my collection of Parts for making my own figures. Mr. Gold was a novelty, I did not get one and I do not desire one. I am a creative, so any sort of collecting LEGO that is not related to supplying MOC fodder and more parts/colours/shapes for my palette is hard to understand. Monofigs.com sound weird though. I know that some love to collect parts to make the figures and they look very cool when on display. Though, these collectors are mostly looking to make figures from parts and not buying unprinted parts from someone looking to cash in. For me, I guess part of my collection-mania is from the ASD I have. Having neat things I like is a comfort/mindfulness exercise; I can arrange my figures on the shelf to help my brain relax, turn a shopping trip for groceries (a sometimes stressful situation) into something manageable if I keep in mind that I can look for the newest Hot Wheels Batmobile while I am there. Also, my parents both have a collection of something (Dad likes miniature spirit bottles, Mum likes Fancy glassware from a certain producer) , so to me it was simply a thing you do. The other part of the appeal is the thrill/excitement/joy of hunting things down. I collect many things (Books, Figures, Hot Wheels Cars, Zoids). So it is a case of looking out for these things I like; A series of books, only printed once in 1980, not massively popular and remaindered to another country (Australia I believe); I found each volume in used bookshops and every time it was a spark of victory. Now I have all six, I can look at them and feel smug that I found them all and also enjoy them for their contents (or else why collect them?) They also serve as great material for MOCs as the full colour illustrations are fantastic. Right now I am collecting Hot Wheels cars again, the aforementioned Batmobile (always loved the Batmobile) and variations of it and also some circa 2005 cars from a retired series; because it is fun and de-stressing to comb eBay lots for a specific type of car. However on this I have rules about how much I will pay, to avoid spending silly money (But if anyone reading this has Acceleracers they are willing to part with, gimme a message!). Looking over the photos in a listing distracts from the current stresses of pandemics and work (Key Worker/Essential Worker means no furlough and more work!). If you aren't into collecting, it might be something odd. I am aware of this, two siblings are entirely not collectors and they really can't figure it out.

Other uses for LEGO beyond building
Peppermint_M replied to Bricky Joe's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The braille bricks are one super application of LEGO. Jelle, creator of the Marble League and Marbula 1 marble run videos also uses lots of duplo as track, track support and other competition constructs in the marble contests. Those are the two I could immediately think of. -

So, I see we create from the basics of Heroica. Do you have any pictures that showcase the theme/flavour of all this? -

Sounds like fun! A fresh start and something to play again. Once you have classes, I will think up a character. -
I have made this thread for this exact problem. Feel free to report things that are out of place or do not belong.

Sellers of mulitple figures: fake or mad?
Peppermint_M replied to legolandia's topic in General LEGO Discussion
All the above mentioned are good possibilities. Also: Damaged Box lots sell cheaply. So, say a retailer has a shipping pallet of LEGO sets that has been squashed on one side. I know they simply ship the sets in boxes, wrapped in clear plastic. I have seen them at the factory and when I was unloading a delivery from the truck (Forklift drivers, can I get a heck yeah!) the driver knows I am an AFOL (he is getting into it too) and laughingly pointed out that the pallet next to our delivery was full of LEGO. Let us just say, guys from the one shipping company have delivered to us with a trailer leaking wine from a crushed delivery! Anyway, I digress: So, Retailer gets a pallet of LEGO Sets, say an eighth of the pallet has damaged sets. The sets that look fine get put out on the shop floor to sell, the bashed ones get sold cheap in bulk through auction. Someone savvy would know that the damaged box sets have some value, but they can sell the minfigures on their own for faster money and cheaper shipping, without having to sell a set on without a box or with damaged boxes. -
Selling instructions for MOCs - clarity
Peppermint_M replied to MAB's topic in Forum Information and Help
I mean, it isn't a bad thing if it is incidental to the MOC. Say X users posts Y MOC, the MOC thread is simply MOC: Y. Somewhere in the write-up and photos is a link to "instructions available" whether they are free or they are paid for, it is just letting people know they exist to obtain somehow. If A user posts B MOC and the the thread is MOC B - Instructions Inside!!! and the link leads to pay-for-view then maybe that is bending the rules. If they outright say the MOC or instructions are for sale as the whole thrust of the thread, it is advertising and does not pass the rules. -
Lego 2019/2020 top 6 Premier League Team Mosaics

No problems! It is just a little bit of forum etiquette here at least. I think my brother would like this mosaic. Personally I prefer a , -
Anyone else find the Mosaic theme boring?
Peppermint_M replied to jxu's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So are Pirates, so was Carrie Fisher, American Soldiers Manifesting their Destiny have existed in classic and Licensed form. Indiana Jones sets had actual Nazis (just without any insignia). I think it is a bit weird to pick on something like that. -

Little word of advice: This is exactly the wrong way to get on the front page. -
Anyone else find the Mosaic theme boring?
Peppermint_M replied to jxu's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You would be surprised by who can't do that for themselves. Those who are not equipped with the skills, knowledge or ability to create something like this for themselves. Then they reach the problem that they cannot source the parts they need or the colours they want. Sure, I find them boring "sets" but they are nice enough products for people into that sort of thing. We forget that we are in a bubble or echo chamber of LEGO Fans, we know how, where and what we need to do and buy. There are builders who create fantastic mosaics and art pieces that are really impressive, not really my speed so it is something I won't be doing. (However, there is something similar I want to do with bottlecaps, so yeah...). Then again, there are people who create massive greebled grey slabs of Star Wars ships which I personally find just as tedious and boring, each to their own eh? I won't be buying any, but I have a few friends who enjoy LEGO who like them and want something related to their interests. I have no desire to be a gatekeeper or telling people they are doing it wrong. Of course, I personally adore creative building and sometimes just empty a boxed set out into my collection, never to be built as "intended" and I will forever encourage people to embrace their creative side. Though, some do not, as I stated, have the skills or even the creativity. All our brains are wired up differently and we have our own talents. We like to collect neat stuff! Humans, animals: Neat Stuff is appealing. I am something of a collector of things, I am proud of my 600+ collection of books with some prize pieces being rare books, a comic signed by artist and writer, and a pre-published editor copy. People prize the first editions, or certain print-runs. Exactly the same consumerism as pop-culture clutter. There are Gearheads who have a rare car or coars, is Jay Leno wrong for being proud of his car collection? Cars are a pretty big flag of consumerism. Treasured family heirlooms often started life as a purchase with both practical and aspirational uses (The expensive sideboard, the fancy china; "Valuable" as it makes you look impressive, a social achievement amongst peers. Sure, if society as a whole discards a consumerist viewpoint then the value is lost. However, there is always a positive feeling to own something you admire and can show to your peers. Case in point, a fellow fan of SciFi is impressed that I have a full set of Terran Trade Authority books. A colleague of mine thinks I am wasting a lot of space by owning any books at all! We evaluate according to our own interest and aspirations. I am happy that LEGO is embracing the market of Adults who like Stuff. It not only means I am not a "weirdo" who "plays with kids toys", it means my friends can engage in my Hobby in a meaningful way. What is wrong with her? She existed in LEGO way before this art piece inspired by the famous Warhol design. Personally, I like Liechtenstein more, and Banana is my favourite Warhol piece. I worked with someone who had a mug from the National Gallery with the banana on and I was jealous of that! (She worked in Conservation for a museum that I worked in with her for a while, so it fitted the job too!). -

Thanks It felt like a nice way to brighten up a lost summer! Okay; everyone who entered is entitled to this tag: I will start adding it to profiles now it is securely on EB servers. If you entered and do not want the tag: Please let me know here in thread. @Kristel @kritch and@Aurore is available for you if you want it! -
This whole creation is another exercise in Nice Part Use. Your builds are often something I can show even the most sceptical person to prove that LEGO can be an art medium. As ever, thanks for sharing this creation here. I look forward to your next masterpiece.

Finding a few creations to comment on is always a great way to engage with the community and build up your post count.

That was literally an off-the-cuff remark, but now I must build and participate in this challenge.

This one looks like it is much better if you want to share a developed story pitch for a theme instead of some sort of single MOC. Let's be real, IDEAS is mostly IP dreams and display pieces that need to be proven to be popular. It might later lead to more sets later (Like with Ghostbusters) but it is mostly one and done. This looks like a way to get attention for a playtheme idea in the same way you pitch a TV show, Movie or Novel. Great thing for fans, especially if TLG then purchase or work with you to create said theme. (Of course, I am going to read through the terms and conditions like a lawyer!). Creating a line of sets at different sizes and price points that might eventually get released. So... Pitch a plan for a Pirate, Castle or pure Space theme! Share a plan for an Adventure for Johnny Thunder! Come up with something so bonkers everyone will look at you askance! (Fabuland Wasteland, the Mad Max like adventures of cute animal characters....)

Sure, as a moderator who loves the MOC side of things, it gets frustrating how little Creating is going on and how even less commenting and feedback is garnered on those MOCs that get posted. I do not see it is as ranty how you have posted. In fact your points are well put and thought out. I apologise that my post was a little shorter, I was on my phone at the time I personally found commenting dropped off and pushed some builders to other platforms, but they are pretty quiet now too. Discord has pulled in a lot of discussion now (from what I hear). "Like" and "Heart" has taken the place of commenting and we didn't want to institute it here on EB in the hopes that people would post comments. Instragram is a great platform to share, but not to learn.
