One shield is all you need. This is the only reason KK was in any way useful, and the variety of shields it produced (like the octagonal shield shown above) made it an extremely useful line for army builders like me. Heraldry is great for your unified armies, like the lions, dragons, falcons, etc, but many forces just wore the same color or a colored bandana on an arm to signify allegiance. One shield is all you need, making every new CMF shield a huge boon. The Chima banner is also a good item to potentially integrate.

I had a pretty good Tolkien-Dungeons & Dragons view of the fantasy races until WoW came along. My brother is big into Warhammer, so between the two I've started associating Dwarves with Muskets, cannons and Mohawks. I'm still trying to resist the mohawks, since I think of Dwarves being more conservative with their hair. I feel like Goblins and Orcs are more reckless and free-spirited. which equals Mohawks.

Darn it! You beat me to the boar riders! Those were going to be a dwarf force, but now I will have to go in a different direction. The boars look great, and I love the use the Marvel helms. I use them for my vikings, wasn't thinking of moving them over into my fantasy builds. They work very well with the orcs. I briefly considered Mohawks, etc for my dwarves, but decided against it. They look much better with the orcs.

Guilds of Historica New Member Guide

The point of the free build topic is to get a listing of all the free builds for that quarter to make it easy to index and do point calculations. The intent was to have everyone post their builds in one post for each quarter thread, in the same format, so that they could be easily indexed. Like this. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66397 What has happened is that these index posts only reflect a portion of the builds, and they are scattered among multiple posts. I was initially keeping track of every new free build for Avalonia, but then people stopped posting in the main thread, and I have not been able to keep up with them. If the quarterly threads were organized, it would be relatively easy to update a MOC index. As it stands now, I just have not had the time to tackle this. -
I'm saying that historically, AmazingBricks has given us rumors that turned out to be true. I would hate to have him stop posting them because he's worried they might turn out to be wrong. CM4Sci and Just2Good have/are extremely reliable sources, which is great, but I wouldn't want to lose another source for rumors. We often go weeks/months without new information, which is why all of the other guessing games and wishlists show up because people are waiting for new info, and want to keep the thread active. The rumors are the tidbits that get you excited, even if they don't always pan out.
-
Nothing like calling out one of the few sources of REAL information on this thread. Would you prefer that he wait until he sees the pictures himself to confirm, and then we would get no information at all? Then we can just cycle through guesses and recap posts and random wishlists over and over and over and over again, like 90% of the CMF threads these days.

How is this a logical conclusion to jump to? -
Fantastic tree trunks! I love that technique! Just great landscaping all around, and the story/premise was quite enjoyable. Excellent work!

The Elemendi-Chapter One-Going Underground

Excellent builds - as always, and fantastic story! -
Great to see another faction from you! The highlander kilts work well, and I like the use of the friends hair for the female. The leader is also well done, and the cow mount is a good choice. It's too bad we don't have sheep or larger goats to use. I need to get my Dwarves posted one of these days. I displayed them at Brickworld last year, but I haven't gotten around to photographing them yet.

I'm surprised there aren't more comments! This is an excellent build with good design elements and color usage, with a very pleasing result. Great work! I agree that we need more good western builds. Edit: funny enough, 2 more responses in the 20 minutes since I first visited this page :)

Good story and excellent build! The floor, walls and landscaping are very well done.

The chronicling of all the lore and stories somewhat conflicts with one of the major principles of GoH. We want to make it easy for people to build their stories without having to worry about aligning with everything else that has been written to date. As soon as you start trying to track everything everyone else has built, it becomes cumbersome, (and virtually impossible) to fit in with their storylines. This can be a major deterrant for new members. The real reason we claim territory in Avalonia is so you know that you can make up whatever you want, and your parcel is your own blank slate. This has been demonstrated in Nocturnus recently with the people wondering who built where for the crater in the border. I agree that we should keep track of the main Chapter storyline, and I will try to address that soon. This is much easier to grasp, and we would want members to incorporate this in their builds if they'd like Please don't let me slow you down with the Wiki, I think it will be a valuable resource for interested members to use/add to.

Excellent build! Many little details and a ton of variety really make this stand out! I love the slightly raised walkway in front of the shelves with the chains, and the little shelf with the bucket handles is ingenious!
-
Excellent first build! Nice detail work on the house and the landscaping, and the scene as a whole, with the cliff and the sea is well done.

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion

I know that commerce driven technology is prevalent in Kaliphlin, but I've heard the gnomes of Mitgardia are the most advanced... -

Actually, the reason Avalonia exists is because it's people cleansed it of the warlords, parasites, vermin and Drow that were marauding there, and slaughtered them or ejected them from the realm (I wonder where to? There's a reason we call Nocturnus the waste bin of Avalonia). We are in fact confining you IN Nocturnus, so you don't spread your filth and infect other lands. -

Hello Avalonia Junior! Welcome to the.... 17th century(?) Where we are able to account for our holdings and belongings, and are able to concentrate long enough to remember who our neighbors are, and don't feel the need to slaughter/subjugate/eat all of them. Congrats Z! -
Latest CMF series impact on Historic themes
Rogue Angel replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
As stated in 3 of the 4 posts above you. The snow queen may or may not be historic. Hopefully it is useful. Imp also has the potential, as does the Scallywag. The new dog mold for the dog show could be useful, but I doubt it. Probably a toy, daschund or something else small and useless. The hiker could come with a walking stick.... Until we see pictures, it's hard to guess how much impact they will have. I have high hopes for the Assassin/Rogue and the Arabian Knight. -

I always think of that with Star Wars, but I forget that Marvel & DC have the same mini figure restrictions. -

I'm hoping this is still speculation yet. We haven't confirmed anything except the Ninjago series next year, correct?
