These are beautiful layouts! I especially like all the terrain work on the first and third versions. I've been planning to put together a Western layout one of these years for Brickworld, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Desslock, your Dragon army is most impressive! It was very nice of TLG to provide battle packs for this line, so it was a little easier to army build these. I'm still working on my own version of the 2014 Dragons. We covered this before, that the first stage of army building is mass collecting. Customization is very costly, and very time consuming. Believe me, I know. Plus, I would guess the majority of collectors prefer similar troops to varied troops. Seeing a storm trooper column is much more impressive with it's uniformity then seeing a column of rag-tag rebel troops from End or or Tatooine.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Rogue Angel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I would say that your purchase was worth it if you wanted the playset. You didn't get a huge bargain, but the bunker and the AT-ST are the central pieces of the set, and they are worth about $50-$60 IMO. It would have cost you $55 + shipping in Bricklink for the same purchase. -
Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Rogue Angel replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow, a lot happened in 5 days! Welcome Kyo, welcome back Sparrow. As DeGothia stated, the GoH help page is the place to start. Also read the first post of this thread forbackground info on Avalonia. Dzidek, you should post any of your Task builds in this thread, and create a new dedicated thread as for each Task 4 and 5 build. -
I was wowed when I saw this. Excellent brick style, and very nice terrain. The Elken has some great parts usage too.

Richchie - that is a superb army with an excellent baseplate layout! My only suggestion might be to stagger/scatter your orcs more so they look a little less organized, but it depends on whether or not you want them in strict formation. In almost any build where your not portraying active combat, 30 IS an army. Given how many different fantasy/castle factions are out there now, I made the personal standard that 20 of any particular faction was the minimum I want to collect. There are some factions that I have less of that I am utilizing as more of a small caravan (PoP soldiers) or a small raiding party (Swamp creatures from MF, Yeti CMFs), but for each new castle faction or quality CMF, I try to collect 20. In most of my mid to small builds, (4 baseplates or less), 20 is plenty. If I'm looking to garrison a large castle of fortress, then I want 30-40 or more, but I have larger factions that I would utilize for this purpose. The immense armies, like richchie's, are great for display just like he shows, or for massive battles, but I personally find that for almost every battle scene that I build, 30 troops for one side is plenty. LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Rogue Angel replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, there was no NEED to mess with the continuity. There are plenty of other ships that could have been used in place of A-Wings. It's precisely this kind of indifference (by Disney) that is so frustrating to me. I would probably prefer that most of these new sets are Rebels over OT in hopes that we could get some new characters and races. -

Rogue Angel replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Which is completely wrong because the Rebellion didn't add A-Wings OR B-Wings to their fleet until after a New Hope, which is why we don't see them on Yavin. You'd think Disney would at least respect the continuity of the OT, but apparently not. -

Rogue Angel replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I heavily prefer OT to all else, and I have to disagree with you. Rebel Alliance BP - finally some non-unique standard use rebels. Other than the Rebel Troopers we received YEARS ago, we have been without any generic rebel figures that aren't focuses to a specific climate (hoth troopers, endor troopers). Plus a duros AND a rodian? Fantastic BP, and the best we've seen since the Snowtrooper BP. Galactic Empire BP - It is unfortunate that the stormies come with dirt on their helmets/torsos, but not the end of the world. This also comes with the an imperial office with the new kepi, which has been hard to acquire previously. I'm sure the shock troopers will be useful to someone... Escape Pod - finally a cheap way to get Jawas! If only they came with capes. Carbon Freezing Chamber - Ugnaughts! These were the only thing missing from a good Cloud City MOC, and we finally can get them! Hoth Attack..... yeah, this a complete bust. No use for this set at all. I'm sure that kids will like it though. We are not getting the Tydirium, Death Star Duel, UCS Slave 1 and new Tuskens, so it is not as good as last year, but this also only the first wave. Of all the things I wanted from OT though, generic Rebel fighters and Ugnaughts were among my most wanted. Zuckus, 4-Lom, Ponda Boba, Ephont Mon and a Bantha are the other things I'm waiting on (along with Quarren, Devaronians and Kubaz). -
I was all excited to hit up my Lego store on Jan 1, only to find out when I got there that only the TFA sets were being released on the first, AND series 15 CMFs were not being released until February. What a disappointing day... I had already seen the January wave of TFA sets in stores for 2 weeks here in Wisconsin, but It was the OT sets I really wanted.

New to star wars minifigure collection - Any help / beginner tips?
Rogue Angel replied to Marshgray's topic in LEGO Star Wars
What is your intent? Are you looking for 1 of each, or will you be creating builds that involve the figures? The battle packs are the best way to get troopers in large quantities, and the 2016 lineup is the best selection of battle packs in quite a while. Greedo, Han and Yoda all seem overpriced ( unless your heart is set on the original cantina version). I would wait on Finn, since he just came out in another set, and is sure to be in more. You will want to consider your timeline. If you need to have all these figs by next month, go for it, but if you will be collecting for the next couple of years, I would wait on some of the more common characters (Yoda, Han, scout trooper, etc.) Especially if you are also planning to buy sets. If this is the case, I have would focus on the figs from 2015 and 2014, as well as the figs from recently discontinued sets that are more uncommon (Endor Leia, Shadow stormtrooper, etc.)- 18 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Rogue Angel replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If all your concerned with is screen time or "cannon" (lazy %^*&^ Disney!) material, then so be it. My guess is that this is the view of most people who display the figs and want the variety of costumes to show on their shelf, which is fine. There are folks that recreate scenes from the movie, so having Luke Skywalker in bacta-tank outfit is useful. For those of us that could care less about the "Cannon" label, and have read/played/watched all of the great books, comics, video games, card games, board games, rpgs, tv shows and movies out there, it is much better to get a Cracken or a Zuckuss then a single additional padme/amidala outfit, another remake of boba fett with printed inseams. And if you MOC beyond the core movie scenes, then every new alien mold is a godsend (thank you for Ugnaughts) and are the best things that Lego produces for Star Wars other than battle packs (Rebel Battlepack is aaaa-mazing!) -
What a great interior build! I love all the little details you've added in, and the size of the build.

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Rogue Angel replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
1. This would be considered substantial due to the amount if detail put into it. A more basic build (less detailing and snot) would need to be 50-100% bigger (fill up a 32x32 baseplate minimum). 2. I thought it was listed on the first post of Book I, but I can't seem to find it. I believe it is where Artorious Rex and the Flight of Dragons defeated the warlords that were controlling large portions of Avalonia previous to Book 1 of GoH. -
Excellent build! I like the coloring and deterioration of the towers. The separate modules is a great idea, much easier to transport and change things up.

I love the floor and the plant, and the interior details like the tilting books. Very nice build!

Latest CMF series impact on Historic themes
Rogue Angel replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Despite the fact that red and green are seen in combination at Christmas, it is still a matter of opinion, and the shade of a color makes a big difference in how colors look together so 'Lego green' implies that specific shade of green. My point is that you can easily swap out the shield if you don't like the color combination. Some people don't like to modify their figs from the Lego release, but I have no issue with it. -

How is a banana suit any more outlandish than a hot dog suit? I would have expected a banana suit long before a hot dog suit. -

Lego green and red do not go well together. I question the shield coloring given the rest of the knight, but I have no issue swapping in a more appropriate shield, and creating another bear faction with this shield. -

REVIEW: 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15
Rogue Angel replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the fantastic review as always Whitefang! The figures I was most excited about (Scary Knight, Native Woman, Satyr) I am even more excited about due to the high quality of the torso and leg prints. I will also have to get one each of some figure I was going to skip upon seeing these up close (Kendo warrior, Laser Droid). Long live the standard CMF Series! -

She was no worse than any of her contemporaries, and when your nicknames come from the enflamed populace that will eventually put you to death, you have to take them with a very large grain of salt.
