  1. As soon as we bring in Simpsons and the non-numbered series, that completely changes the conversation. You could argue that the Lego Movie and Monster series are in line with the numbered series (I have treated them that way with my purchasing pattern) but they do differ enough from the standard numbered series to consider them separate.
  2. I believe Garm us spot on. If memory serves me correctly, both the City and region are called Cedrica, and it serves as the ruling district for the 4 guilds. It is not a wasteland, but more of "open" land with plains, patches of trees, etc. Anyone can build there, but you cannot live there. It is my impression that the City us in place primarily to serve the government. There are no goods produced for export here (other than politics and intrigue) but the City is large enough to support whatever buildings you could think of, and it does serve as a stopover for travelers and petitioners. The Grand Griffon Tavern and Inn is indeed located in Cedrica
  3. The only thing I do with my animal/food costume guys is put them in my display case. They are quaint, but don't serve much use other than City store mascots, masquerade ball attendants or MOC easter eggs, none of which I build/use at this point. Army building and parts usage/fig usage are the reason I collect CMFs, not collectability or monetary value.
  4. Series 9? That's one of my least favorite. Series 2 is the worst, with only the Spartan to it's credit. The best series is 10 by far. Revolutionary soldier, tomohawk warrior, plus the Roman commander, the amazon, the seagull, the balding headpiece... So much army building and paets usage for this series. I bought at least twice as many of this series (more than 100 figs) than any other series to date. My favorite fig is the Elf followed by the Revolutionary soldier. The Elf is such a spectacular fig all around. If LotR had come first, I may have thought differently, but the Elf is the only reason I started paying attention to the CMFs, and I am so glad I started collecting them.
  5. Least favorite would be Kendo warrior or astronaut. Jewel thief would be the worst, but she comes with a different hairpiece. The farmer comes with a generic hat, which is extremely useful (vs. the scarecrow's patched hat), plus a pig! Very good parts fig.
  6. We have had 5? 6? Lion shields so far, and the two full body emblems are similar in color and the 3 lion head emblems are similar in color, so I can't justify having more than 2 lion factions in my world. I don't use 3 of the lion shields at all, which is a waste. I don't think you can leave crusaders out of the classic castle lineup because they were one of the two core factions initially (1980s on). I personally think a rerelease if the classic theme would be a waste. I would expect them to tweak everything slightly (classic blue/yellow Black Falcon vs. Joust Silver Black Falcon) making the classic figs potentially obsolete, which would be of no use to me. If they kept everything the same, this would still be a ware because I already have all the classic figs I could want. I realize that many people would disagree with me on this, but I would rather see new ideas over recycled concepts. I have no issue with an occasional release (Black Falcon's fortress a few years ago) but I don't need to see a revamp of the classic factions.
  7. So it looks like the CMF gods are smiling on Avalonia with this new series. We have satyrs to populate the Enchanted Forest, and a new knight to form the core of Avalonia's elite guard (have to swap out the shield, but that's OK). Kalihplin also fared well with the Winged Warrior. Mitgardia is getting some more pigs and Nocturnus finally gets a skunk! The queen and the bear shield are more Historica-wide gifts as they don't match the specific colors of any of the guilds.
  8. While an all-Castle CMF series would be incredible, I was saying that any decent CMF series (castlewise - So every series but 1 and 8 have been pretty good) is better than some of the castle themes we have seen. For example, the last castle theme essentially boiled down to a new dragon faction with subpar heraldry, 1 new torso (with another barely different version), 2 shields and a printed armor, and a rehashed lion-crown faction, which does not further my castle collection because I have to replace either the crownie faction or one of the lion factions to use it. This came with 2 new torsos, 2 new shields and a printed armor. Printed armor doesn't do much for me, and new torsos are not that exciting to me unless they are signicantly different than what we already have. So this castle line gave no new races, one new OK faction, no new weapons, armor or hats, 5 new boring torsos (if you include wizard and princess) and a rehashed dragon. If it weren't for the army builder set, I would have skipped this line altogether. (If the dragon would have been a new mold instead of a recolor, the line would have shot up in my estimation.)
  9. The fig is historically accurate, it's a mother and child. It's just the term that is considered offensive. A dark red plume would have been AMAZING!
  10. This series is quite good for castle builders. IMO The best things we can get from the CMFs in order are: 1. A new race 2. A new faction (shield - a new shield means you can create an entirely new faction if you want with all the torso variety available) 3. A new helmet, head piece or armor piece (adds to the variety of the standard 7 helmets, 3 armor piece and limited hats/hoods that are available) 4. A new torso/legs (while this is nice and the scary knight has a fantastic torso and legs, this is where we have the most variety already today. Specialized commoner torsos would jump up to #3 if we got them) 5. New pieces (animals, pots, equipment) This series comes with all 5: 1: Satyr 2: Bear shield (this differs enough from the KK2 octagonal shield that I consider it a separate faction. The unmatching small triangular gold/silver KK2 shields are some of the only shields I don't use with my factions because they look too similar and stupid IMO) 3. Winged Warrior Helmet, Mace 4. Scary Knight, Queen 5. Skunk, pig, long spear (these are so hard to come by!) So some very nice Castle additions with this series. BTW, I would rather get a solid CMF series for castle then a new Castle line, unless it were going to be Fantasy or LotR caliber. Another kiddie castle line is pretty low value for me, and I typically only pick up the figs.
  11. The neck bracket is in place to carry the papoose on her back.
  12. I'm guessing Whitefang's review will be here shortly. Then we can really see all the details.
  13. Agreed, the Queen's dress looks fantastic! The Knight comes with a cape! Shoulder armor is OK, not cape caliber, but it's an extra accessory anyway, and should be easier to feel for (I thought his neck looked wierd but I thought that was just picture quality) and the bear on the shield looks to be dark green or black instead of the silver/gold like they used for the secondary shields in KK2. The native woman has a fantastic torso/leg print! The winged warrior helmet is excellent as well. Alright, this series is better than I thought. That Knight has me pretty excited!
  14. Highlights of the set: Satyr: Excellent figure all around Knight: New mace, new shield and emblem using the Egyptian size but right side up again with very nice torso/leg detailing (I dislike the color combination on the shield) Winged warrior: new helmet, includes the long spear, gold wings (too bad I bricklinked a ton of these armor pieces last year) Papoose (I really would have liked a new hairpiece, but the baby is more important. I like the colored feathers, and will have to see on the torso/legs) Skunk (I really wish this would have been a more prevalent creature like a squirrel or a racoon, but I'm very happy it's not a rat) Decent Farmer: it's nice to get a pig and the hat without the patch Shark: always good to get another costurme Queen: I'm not sure how I feel about the dress piece. Would have really like a curved back on it instead of a uniform thickness. I like the King better) Janitor: very utilitarian figure and the mop head will be very useful Meh: Astronaut: Flag is a nice touch but otherwise a boring fig Wrestler: Mullet is OK Accident guy: mildly amusing, the headpiece might prove useful Bad: Jewel thief is just catwoman with a new hairpiece Kendo guy: As mentioned, this is a ninjago rehash, what's the point? Laser robot: Total miss. Another bad galaxy patrol fig. 3 army builders aren't bad, but 2 of them are limited (satyr and winged warrior). The Satyr is the coolest concept, but will be very limited use. The knight is the most useful, and will be the only fig I buy in large numbers. If the torso is decent on the native woman, she may be a limited army builder. Definitely better than the Monster series, but still a mid-range series IMO. None of the figure blow me away like past figs have (Elf, Revolutionary solider, Egyptian, Hun, Spartan, Roman, Musketeer, etc.)
  15. I love the elf. I wish we could get the color variations in real brick.
  16. KK2 was entirely castle with no futuristic elements. It was garish with some stupid design choices (wheeled horses), but it was similar to a <insert that tiresome argument> castle theme. I will never consider NK a castle theme. BUT, I didn't create this topic to be a NK discussion. I had always considered the Dragon Masters to be an odd spin off of the Black Knights. Likely a splinter faction that rebelled. The problem was that I saw no use in having a separate Dragon faction that had the same emblem, but in Green Red and Yellow instead of Blue, red and yellow. Combine this with the facts that this green shield variant only ever appeared in oval form (not triangular), the Black Knights had no emblemed torsos of their own (only plate and scale/chain) torsos), and the Dragon Master soldiers were red black and blue, I was led to make one overarcing Dragon faction using the blue, red and yellow shields, the dragon master torsos/shields/plumes). I ditched the multicolored legs, and reasoned the green, red and yellow shields could be used for a separate calvary force. I used Majisto instead as a wandering Mage, severing his ties with the Dragon army. This gave me one cohesive force to use, and this is why I consider them one faction, even though they were separate in Lego lore. I treat the lions/leo's/Crownies in the same way. I can only justify two different Lion factions in my world, so I toss out Leo, and I consider the Crown/Lion amalgam to be Crownies only. I consider the newest lions (red/gray) to be a separate faction. In my world, there would be multiple dragon species, so I can accept multiple Dragon forces (BK, KK2, Fant, 2013).
  17. OK, I'm going to clarify a few things here: POSTING/PICTURES/ETC Any new EB members should be reading these topics to answer a lot of the basics: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18718 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71241 AVALONIAN FORCES There IS a standing Army for Avalonia, but during peacetime, they are primarily utilized as border guards, road patrols and Albion defense. They vary along the lines of the Green/Yellow Dragons from a couple of years ago. See below: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=536177 In wartime, each region will be called upon to provide soldiers/militia, and these actually form the majority of Avalonia's army at War. The emblems and attire of these troops varies from region to region. There are also additional forces that patrol/guard larger areas, such as Windusky's Rangers, the Elves in Enchanted Forest, etc. CREATING YOUR PLACE IN AVALONIA/HISTORICA Typically, most of the forces/trades/etc. created are specific to one region, and each person crafts everything about their region. This is not to say that you cannot invite other members to join your story, or join other members creations, just that this is less common. You can feel free to say your character participated in something in Avalonia's history if it makes sense, but not that they were a lead character in the history, or the general of the Avalonian Army or the "best/smartest/deadliest" of anything. Everything is relative, and not a competition between other members (My ranger is better than your ranger, or my militia can beat your militia, etc.) Also, you are crafting the history/characteristics of your region, not anyone else's. You shouldn't be inserting yourself in other people's specific histories unless they are asking for people to do so (which is perfectly fine). It is also perfectly fine to ask if anyone wants to have your character visit, if anyone wants to let you build one of your trade stores in their region, if someone wants to join forces, etc. You can build where ever you want (Avalonia, Mitgardia, Kaliphlin, Nocturnus, Valyrio) but your character must reside in Avalonia, and you cannot claim territory in any other guild. You can also make pacts with whoever you want, as long as they are willing, or you can deal with other groups in Historica (Desert Kings, Drow, etc.) as long as you are not trying to alter the main history/storyline. TASK ENTRIES Task V entries can be created in LDD, but they need to be substantial (same as with actual builds). The smallest a fortress could be would be 32x32, but this would have to be tall, and have a lot of substance to it. I would expect this to be more like 48x48 or larger for most strongholds. This also carries through to Task 4. In order for entries to be accepted for credit, they need to be substantial, meaning again 32x32. This is not a strict rule, but is you post only 16x16 builds, you won't get credit for more than one or two builds unless they are very detailed or very substantial in a limited space. For example, in the picture below, one of these houses on a 16x16 base would not be substantial enough to be recognized, but the 3 houses together on a 32x32 base, or one house with a lot of other details on a 32x32 base would be acceptable. TITLES The titles have not been updated recently, but hopefully I can get to them soon. They are related to how much members have participated, and how long they have been EBers. Participation tends to wane after a while (except for the workhorse DG), but then they will often return later. Also, our original members are who really created the Guilds, and made them flourish. Check out this post if you want to see some amazing builds. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66397 I hope this clarifies some things.
  18. We do not have a specific footprint. There have been conflicting scales with others guild maps. It is quite large though.
  19. I missed Beegirl, I was looking at the Super Lot prices. I have added her above.
  20. My list is based off relative value on BL according to each series, not specific rarity by distribution. Lady liberty is more valuable than the hockey player, but she's nowhere near the bunny guy selling for $28!!!
  21. S1: Zombie/Nurse S2: Spartan S3: Elf/Gorilla Guy S4: Hockey Guy (barely) S5: Lizard Man/Graduate (strangely) S6: Roman Soldier S7: Bunny Suit Guy S8: Fairy/Actor S9: Waiter/Forest Maiden/Chicken Suit Guy S10: Bee Girl (by a landslide), Librarian, Medusa, Sea Captain, Grandpa, Trendsetter ( amazing how many from this series) S11: Grandma, Scarecrow, Islander, Saxaphine Player S12: None (Spooky Girl is the only one that's worth even $4 S13: None (Again, Hot Dog Man and Unicorn Girl man are worth ~$4) Then of course, Mr. Gold is the most collectible minifig from all the CMFs, but they made him ridiculously rare, and he's more of a currency then a CMF in my opinion. He would be too valuable to keep in my collection, I'd rather have the Sandcrawler or the Death Star than a $350 display figure.
  22. You can feel free to post the story, it's just that the sigfig officially marks your joining of the guild. It's the minimum requirement for entry.
  23. You can associate with anyone you wish. Be prepared for some discontent if you're planning to collude with unsavories (Drow, etc.) but you are not limited by Guild or conciense if your character is not.
  24. Alright, back again to post. I do monitor this thread regularly, but I typically rely on DG (he is running Avalonia right now after all...), Bregir, or other willing Avalonians to answer questions that arise. I add members to the frontpage occasionally, but typically they have to have GoH builds before I will. We get plenty of members that post a sigfig, then never post another build. Titus - I didn't add your territory previously because I could not view it. The next time I update the map, I will add it in. Updating the map takes a bit of effort do to the inconvenient way I have it formatted, so It will be a little bit yet. Welcome to Mr. Greeble, Jasper Moors, Brickon, Dzidek and Faladrin! Nice builds from Bregir, Titus, LordofDan, Frumpy and Milo! Mitch, feel free to create an invading force in Avalonia. Just pick a region like everyone else does, and then you can say that your residents are aggressive/spys/invaders, whatever. Beerbeard did something similar a while ago. You don't have to be pro-Avalonia to be in Avalonia. You won't, however, be able to fight other members directly and take over their territory. You will have to go about it more vaguely, or just post build about treasonous acts or isolated encroachments into other areas. I don't think I've seen any Task 6 or Task 7 builds yet. Anyone working on anything for either one? As a reminder, please continue to post links to your freebuilds in this thread, as some of you have been doing, or post links to your other builds in each build you post (like MiloNelsiano). This also makes it much easier to track what you've been building. I keep a log of everything that happens in this thread, so if you don't post a link to it here, I might easily miss it. If you want to catch up by posting your links now, that would be great, but please post all your links in one post, without pictures.
