Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Looking forward to it. On my part, I build decorative elements first (usually rebuilding each one 3-4 times as I go) and bodge them together. The resulting structure is usually so feeble that when it's finished I have to take it apart and rebuild it properly as a structure first with decorative bits added on. So, each component is reworked multiple times and the structural bit is probably rebuilt once or twice. I usually run out of bricks on the structure, which creates its own challenges and involves a further scavenge and rebuild process. -
A highly original and entertaining entry. I think the build is a little cluttered, to be honest, and this is where the insect vibe is coming from. However, it gives it a lot of distinctive character. Love the chain!

Excellent idea Mike, very nicely realised. I'm a huge fan of the trans clear on black steps. You have done a great job of transporting the Aslanic vibe onto forbidding surroundings. I kind of agree with Behemoth on the green. It does look Nocty, but it's a bit bright for the red roof. I wonder if you substituted the red/black flower from the Breez set and dark tan palms, would it have a different flavour? But that's a minor point, I really love this.

I mostly like meeting the other builders, I get inspiration from setting how they choose, approach and solve problems. The guys here in HK are awesome.

I like this vig a lot. Skullduggery upon knavery and really bad eggs. Very good user of the space.

I really like what you did with the capes, and the colour combination is superb. Nice posing too!

It's a chunked! Very nice, I like this distinctive chubby look. I can't see it flying far on those little wings though. Very good entry, and I am hugely impressed that you have pulled off the difficult bit of photographing a white and trans clear build.

Keep this hell beast out of Kaliphlin! The head and tail are fabulous, I can't really make out the body details that week. Love the base too!
-
I really like the eye section, this is a very nice economical build. The belly looks a bit fat for a wolf, but you did say it's lazy!

What a lovely build, and a tremendous size! I really like that you have mixed things up by putting the colourful marketplace inside the walls. The camel mural is a highlight for me. I can't wait to see this together with East Stedor! This is just an amazing example of how builders develop here in GoH.

Thanks K-Nut. I would like to explore that a little bit. Most of the Star Wars sets are based on combinations of ships and characters that don't appear in the same movie scene. Should those sets be ignored too? I actually would count the Red Skull set as TFA for the reason you cited, although I don't recall that exact tank design. As for the DoFP

Excellent build and a very inventive one. Lots of great technique here. UoP +1 all claims.

Absolutely outstanding Gabe. Really great shaping for the beast, the rake of the neck and chest is perfect and the wings are so life-like. The backdrop is fabulous too, and you have embedded the set up beautifully into Kaliphlin lore. Superb!

I feel the Princess Bride reference strong in this one. I also feel terror. Great build and very effective photography. The head and torso in particular are just excellent. What did you use for the tongue? I am not so much a fan of the exposed plate on the foreleg, it looks a bit out of place. Excellent build!

What's Your Favourite and Least Favourite Star Wars Movie?
robuko replied to Sir Brickalot's topic in Culture & Multimedia
My favourite is The Empire Strikes Back followed by Star Wars. My least favourite is Revenge of the With. It's a great story that is utterly ruined by Hayden Christiansen and George Lucas (as director and as writer) -
I really like the use of dark red, and the roofing techniques. This has to be a contender for best Moc themed on the new Dragon Knights. Loving the storyline too.

That is actually a NY Toy Fair version. I was comparing my Lego one with the SY one and I nearly had a heart attack because the Lego one has square shoulders just like Decool! It has a Lego tm mark on the neck though, so I think it is genuine. Super weird, huh? Just looking at the figs on my desk my series 1 lady agent, alien conquest alien admiral and Atlantis cthulu fig all have square shoulders too. The SY back print is way off for this fig, by the way, I think they haven't seen a real one.

Well done everyone! Kabel, I hope your agents provocateur will reflect on this before they attempt to undermine our good name again

REVIEW: 71007 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12
robuko replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great review as always Whitefang! You made me feel more excited for this series. Like others I would prefer the army builder figures to be the most common.- 156 replies

Very nice build. UoP+1 all credits, although I would be more comfortable if you can repurpose the building and post it in GoH

Good modern "crossover" sets for Space / Classic space
robuko replied to Faefrost's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Good thread Faefrost. I think you got most of them. I would add the Chima Mammoth Zoid 70145 for ice planet and the Aliens style twin blade copter 70129 as they are, the rhino tank 70131 is a good start for a Mars mission buggy. TMNT flying saucer 79120 works for AC and and post apoca control bunker 79117 can be used in SP3. And the horizon express will fit well with your icy orange moon bases. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
robuko replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am not that enthusiastic about this series to be honest, I feel I will mostly be collecting them just to keep a complete collection. I really wish the space miner had an orange recolour of that armour, I would love to build multi colour space armies. Feels like a missed opportunity.- 1,109 replies
